Still next to no players either. They follow the money. Also FF XIV must be one of the most protected games against gold sellers, although it does so at the cost of placing constraints on the players.

That may be the case... I know SE stated they implemented certain systems to thwart - or at least slow down - RMT efforts.
And in that regard, there still wouldn't be any "invasion", which is what this thread is claiming.
I'm just updating to keep misinformation at bay, and to let those who might read the OP and take it seriously know that they shouldn't.

The "usual suspects" are making such a concerted effort to tear this game down it makes me believe they have associations with FFXIV competitors. I just can't see anyone, that is well adjusted socially and mentally adequate, spending a significant amount of their free time tearingdown a game unless they are getting something out of it.

Nah. I highly doubt they're paid by anyone to do what they do.
If there's any agenda they're fulfilling, it's their own.
Now, why *they* are motivated to do it? My guess is it comes back to basic human nature: Some people just can't stand to see others enjoying something when they don't.
What they're getting out of it is, it would seem, the satisfaction of thinking they're turning people away from something they don't like, thus getting more people "on their side". The whole bandwagon thing. It happens with all MMOs.
A few in the past have been at least honest about it and have flat out admitted that they figured the fewer people who played the game they were bashing, the more people would possibly go play the one *they* liked.
It really can be as petty as that. Some people really do need to validate themselves and what they do by how many others are doing the same.

I didn't say pay necessarily. There are more ways to have associations other than just getting paid. I won't make any more detailed accusations but I have a hard time believing someone would spend that much effort on nerdraging. Maybe I'm just underestimating his severe lack of productive things to spend his time on. IDK

Ah okay... Well, then let me extend my remark to say that I don't think any kind of reciprocity from a competing company is necessary to get these people motivated.
They seem to motivate themselves.

I don't mind when people criticize a game, as long as their points are valid. Saying such, there are quite a few valid issues with FFXIV as it stands. As for the gold farmer invasion... it was inevitable. There is no single MMORPG out there that has ever successfully guarded itself from RMT, there is just way too much money in it for the farmers.
expect a RMT "little-invasion" when ps3 version starts. as to this time more poeple will come in the game and probably stay in it because how many mmo's are there on the console market? not so many that's for sure. they will increase that is for sure. and they will play teir role of supplying new players with ingame money for real ca$h. but as it seems now SE got it under control. for the moment at least.
stuff was rough in ffxi when free trial came out. oh man...

"Was" inevitable?
It never happened. There has been no "invasion" of RMT into FFXIV.
That's the point I've been trying to make here.
Again, think of the uproar in other MMOs when RMT is even moderately present... FFXI had a big problem with it for a while - people were very vocal about it.
Aion *definitely* had a RMT "invasion" for the first several months after its launch... they'd sit right in front of the auction house area and have shops set up advertising their sites.. not to mention spamming chat channels, sending tells, etc. *That* was an invasion.
Lineage 2 has a RMT invasion and has for years. They pretty much run the economy in that game.
When you see stuff like this in the first 10 minutes of logging into a MMO:
... you can say there's a RMT invasion going on.
FFXIV has some RMT to be sure... It does not have an "invasion" of them. Not even close.

nah, he was too lazy for that, and I am too, haha. I remember in XI a lot of people also got hacked for this same reason, I was lucky I stopped going to somepage.com and other sites after they were compromised. I take it you use the security token?
LOL Wait...wait wait wait...why? Why would there be a ton of gold farmers in a game that no one's really playing? I am so confused...and how did this even happen? With such a small population of players one would think they could keep better tabs on the people there.
I hate conspiracy theories, but considering how desperate they are for funding right now I'd be willing to believe they know those botters are there, and are letting them have their fun for now. Once those free months are up, which is soon, those sub fees will still be getting paid. Beggers can't be choosers, I guess
Gold famrers deliver any gold amount you ordered in 15 minutes so they need to keep minimum stock of gold for business. Since the server is low population, it could be their best time for exploit. After a month or two, they all grown up to max level and away from the low level zones. Botting and farming gold is their business. And your business is playing the game and pay every month subscription fee. It's something you wouldn't know, not everything you don't know is considered as conspiracy, at least this one.
Oh god this game has RMT... I'm so shocked.... Oh wait no i'm not! Its in every MMO with these same kinds of Gangs. Its realy shocking how you are just looking for dirt to throw on this game. I'm sorry too tell you its geting better the servers are actualy getting more populated I was playing on Selbina and had quite a few people ot play with and the world was booming with players doing stuff...

I've got 99 problems and an RMT ain't one.

They find it enjoyable. That's all there is to it.
Some people find bashing every new MMO enjoyable. Some people like one game and think every other game is inferior.
It's not really that weird behaviour.

My brother's account got hacked, and he thinks RMT is responsible. (probably because he visits all kinds of websites for crafting recipes).
They took all his shards and crystals... lol ._.
I visit alot of sites for crafting reipes. Did he use the security Token?

Everyone should stop trolling this forums.
It's useless,i have yet to find someone in another game who likes this game,if someone says "ffxiv" in LFG everyone starts laughing.
Just let the people who like the game to discuss about it without the constant "this game sucks" comments, you won't change their opinion anyway.
