My view of Perpetuum.

PalladinPalladin Member UncommonPosts: 430

Just registered to this site to rate Perpetuum but I am not good enough yet to i'll do it here.

On a scail of 1 - 10 with 10 being best I give perpetuum a 10.... grading on the current market of previous crap games

I am not a big fan of scifi based MMOs so take what i say with a grain of salt.

Perpetuum ROCKS

Game features i like

PROS

Detailed, scailable clan managment. ...... with the right settings your don't have to worry about the clan moochers and sucubi.

Detailed and scailable alliance settings.

Time based skill training. As long as your account is active you will get training points (EP)

Indeapth, diverse skills sets IE tank, support, healer, debuffer, buffer, DPS such a diverse set of skills no two characters will be the same, total freedom to develop your character the way you want.

There is no messing up ...train the wrong skill today...train the right one tomorrow. No mater what anything you train will be usefull at some point.

Most diverse crafting system i have ever seen

NO mob camping for a .001% chance of getting the drop you need and have been camping all month....You got the NIC(ingame money) jsut find someone selling the items you want. All top end gear is player crafted and available to anyone who can aford it.

Like I said i am not a fan of the SCIFI theme but i have been in the game for a week now and i've grown to like the game reguardless.

Its more about the game features the avatar is a secondary concern to me

This game have almost all the features I want in a game and the only other game that comes close is Eve. There isn't any other game out today or in development that i would bother with over Perpetuum

The Music rocks.... I ahve never played a game where i left the music on Perpetuum is the first.

YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO CHECK IT OUT AND SEE WHAT A REAL GAME CAN BE.

There are three main play styles where I am concerned.

PvP style = people willing to go out and fight and lose bots every single day without end

Semi pvp style = people that prefer the day to day safty of the Alpha islands but on occasion will venture out to the Bate islands but will run from fights if attacked. they accept the cost of possible destruction

PvE style = people who never pvp, don't want to be attacked and do not accept the cost of a lost bot lightly and prefer the safty of the Alpha Islands 100% of the times. These people never want to be blown up by other players.

Tthere are Four full on pvp Islands and 3 PvE islands. The first two play sytles will love the game whole heartedly. How ever if you are strickly a PvE style player you may want to limit your activity to the three core PvE islands.

The encentive to venture to the pvp islands are greater rewards, better production and refining facilities not available on the PvE islands.

I strongly agree. Perpetuum is amazing in every aspect. It has the depth and complexity of EVE, but is much faster paced and intimate, since your on ground and not floating in space. The mission system is refreshing, the combat is unique and fun, the harvesting and manufacturing are vast and complex, and the graphics are great. On top of all of this, its rocking an INCREDIBLE sound track, I can't remember the last time I really enjoyed the music in a game, especially an MMO. There is so much room for development its not even funny. If you're even thinking about trying this, hop on board right away, you won't be disappointed.

Been around awhile and now in retirement playing online games as my hobby now. All i can say to reinforce what has been said above here is this game is one of only afew that ive ever lost sleep over and could not wait to start playing again. Note that it is also to say this could change but so far sense early launch it has not. Also of note it only costs $10 a month. Try it out folks.

Are you aware that there is only 1 server or you just put more hope in Avatar Creations than CCP? :)

I now I will play devils advoate, you dont pilot mechs as much as you do micro machines the the size of rodents, or atleast thats how I feel.

Seocond this is an odd one but enough to put me off, the worst avatar creation in the history of the game, you will look liek someones retarded step childs drawing if your lucky

  • randomtrandomt Member UncommonPosts: 1,220

I played around for a while in the beta, it was an interesting game, very EvE like (the interface used to look really similar too lol). I am glad they got it up and running, fresh blood injecting non-stereotypical mmo play which turn successful means a better future for mmos in general when the other devs realize the cookie-cutter format just doesn't cut it these days.

The only reason I didnt buy Perpetuum is the time based training.. I just don't like that kind of system (also why I left EvE after a few years off and on, actually)

Now you can only control small robots, since you have no skills yet, but later you will be able to pilot mechs and heavy mechs.

The character generator is very funny. You can do whatever you want, you will be cartoon-like.

I've about given up on that but i am watching and wondering how many folks they can get on 1 server, they keep on adding im impressed that they stay ahead of the numbers.

WOOOW thanks i will take this as a complament. :)

No i am not with Avatar. I am jsut another gamer like any of you. I tried the game and loved it and was so motivated that I came here to MMORPG to review it....something I have never done for a game before. I feel that strongly about this game. I even had to register and post a few times before MMORPG would let me rate the game. But I persisted and finally was allowed to rate the game.I was not allowed to rate the game right off so I started this thread.  I think this thread is what got me the privilage of rating the game to begine with.

I would appeal to anyone looking for a game with depth to try Perpetuum is has what you are looking for and the Devs are great they are very responsive and they are in the game every day looking for things to fix. Avatar is the most proavctive game developers i ahve ever seen in my 10+ years of MMO gaming.

Again you owe it to yourself to see this game it will blow your mind at how deep it is. It makes ALL other MMOS look like junk. (except eve)

I actually like the time based training system. it puts everyone on even footing. I no longer have to compete with people who have unlimited game time where as i might have 20 hours a week.

with time based training all i ahve to do is keep my account active. I can even go on holiday and come back and have all those training points waiting for me. I can go to work and have those points waiting.

Over all the time based training works especially if you don't have tons and tons of time to play. Time evens the play field.

DL'ed  this morning  and  am  having  fun,  the game is  as stated before  very eve-esque,  in a good way,  seems  to have taken the good from Eve  and incorporated it to suit their  own means.  I am  still  just in the early stages  but  it  is great game so far.  Lots to learn yet....

Be very careful leaving area close to main base the mobs on the outward edges of island are tough and ive lost 2 castels and there around 400,000.00 nic to replace. They use ew to slow you down and they are twice as fast as you. Found this out the hardway.

hehehe so i am not the only one to have this exp. I found these tougher bots use demobilizers to slow you and sensor supression to increase your lock time and ecm to break your target lock to boot. I got me any a buddy smioked out there. Tock us all of about and hour to replace the bots doing missions and making money.

Trying to log in myself, won't connect to server. Do you know if you have to buy time first in order to connect or are servers down?

  • kirak2009kirak2009 Member UncommonPosts: 543

Four? Did they really add one more PVP island?

All PVE content and ore needed for any non-basic robots, is placed on PVP islands, Alpha islands(the starter ones) have only very limited, low end NPC.
