Okay, so my retail WOW arrived yesterday and will be installed tonight. Anybody know what the deal with the servers is? Are there specific servers? Like any server better than another server? Any types of special servers? Just want to make sure I do either join an uber-crowded server or the wrong type at the very start of playing.
Also everybody keeps referring to this gane's end game, what specifically do y'all mean? And does it or will it change as the game progresses?

The servers state whether they are pvp, normal, or rp servers, and they also state the overall load, at the time you are signing in, on the servers (ie: light, medium, heavy). I am currently on a light server but there are still plenty of people to group with.
The endgame that most people refer to is the point at which you reach level 60 an all that truely remains in the game is to pvp (until hero classes and/or increased level cap). Some classes do change as you progress through the game, pallys become more support class toward the end, mages dps seems to creep after level 40, etc...
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
It will be very easy for you to sort out the servers. They are listed out together and may be sorted by Type (Normal, RolePlay, PvP) and by population (Low, Medium, High). I also think that within a category, they are sequenced by their populations (the list may also be able to be sorted by clicking on the titles too). So, it should be no problem for you to find the type of server you wish to play on.
The 'End Game' is the question of : "What do I do now that I have reached the game's Level Cap?" (Lvl 50, 60, 100, 200), whatever it currently happens to be. Most new MMORPG do not have a well defined End Game; in the ones that have been successful, the End Game has developed as the player base has reached the Level Cap. For World of Warcraft, I do not know what the End Game is, or if there currently even is one. In EQ1, the End Game is continue to Grind. In DAoC, the End Game is Realm vs Realm and Grind.
By the way, Grinding is the process of simply killing monsters over and over in order to level yourself, or your Items. It is not a good thing.
Good Luck and hope to see you In-Country.
