How deep does SOE think our pockets are?!?!?!

Ok, i personally dont play EQ2, but i have been following up on it because i used to be a firm believer in this game. Well all that has changed, they have made me pissed. They are asking us to join this "EQ2 players" crap for what?! extra character slots and the ability to have crap that you can already see in game posted on a website? This is downright bs. People are already paying 15 dollars for the game. SOE should be offering all of these services included in that 15 dollars. I dont know why anyone in thier right mind would pay for this. In my opinion SOE has become a bunch of vampiric money suckers. ::::25::

prepared to get even more pissed. its not eq2players that gets you the extra character slots. they want you to pay 21.99 a month for the all access pass to get the 4 new slots. SOE wants yuo to sell your children if you have to as long as they get even more money./sigh unfortunatly im already hooked.

    Well...

So is only offering what Allakhazam was offering.

New services is new fees.  I never pay for Allakhazam, I never will pay for that type of services.

But I honestly cant complain much that they offer it right away for a lot cheaper then individuals would.

SoE dont really enjoy offering those services, however, they do offer it rather then let individuals step in and charge more...and they rather make the money of it then let others do it(who wouldnt?).

It bother me, but to aggro on this is a detail, you aggro on a detail that hardly matter.

What bother me is the fact they make it so visible, it is like publicity, that bother me.  It should be a little more, hidden.

Rogues services or whatever, but kinda hide them a little. :)  Make a joke out of it. :)

Their games cost more if you buy them online then in a computer store(at release in Canada), this bother me as well.

Well, actually the services they are offering is a fairly new concept though.  An integration of a "window", per se, into the MMORPG from the web.  Basic stuff, like your character, server. race, class, level, etc is displayed free of charge.  The advanced information is what you have to pay for if you want it.

I'm kind of glad they went with this concept as opposed to just making it $20/month and offering that information "free".  At least I don't have to pay for things I won't use.  I think it would have been more "vampiric" of them if they charged everyone a flat $20, and offered these services for "free".

Nah, those services are already offered by private individuals in EQ.  The fees are way to high althought.  And you obviously need to find them, which is not easy apparently.

What really kills me is how they are forceing me to pay this extra amount!

    what?

    they're not?

    Nevermind.

The main problem I have with SOE and their billing is:

Its extremly complicated, obscure and has connections to things you don't even know

I think I had to decline around 200 things while signing up for the game just so I don't have to pay $xy more

It seems to me that Sony goes the way, cheap and unserious buisness have to go, namely, tricking customers ...::::07::

but why is this??? surely they don't need it.....::::16::::::16::

    edit:
and Yes I think too that most of these extras could be brought for free or as "the Second Generation Customer Service" instead they rather want to be a last century organisation which pretends to do post-modern games and things

Ok ya know whats funny about this?

Anarchy Online has offered a FREE character lookup for its game. You dont even need to subscribe to the game.Granted its very basic but its there and has been for a long long time.It shows the class, level, and what PA the character is in.It used to even show the most wanted players for PvP purposes.

If SOE wanted to offer those items for free they could. On top of everything else they will charge ya for any new expansions as well.

NCSOFT and CCP give expansions for free as downloads.SOE needs to learn how to keep a customer base imho.

    Want to ENJOY an mmo?

Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.

    Just play the damn game:)

The basic information, like you mention here, is available free.  Just go to the eq2players.com site, click on Characters and search from someone. Click their name and you see the basic information such as class, level, etc like you mention here.

Are you serious? EQlive is one of the oldest MMO's out there and it still has one of the largest number of active players of any game.

I hate to sounds like a fanboy of any variety but seriously, if you want to complain you can do better than this.

I don't understand what the big deal is here. All of these extra things that you have to pay for are CRAP. Simply don't pay for it. There are FREE websites that you can go to (eq2.ogamin.com is one) that give all the info on items and maps and things that you need. Who the hell cares whose character is at the top of whatever server or who has all these guild points or whatever. It's pretty pointless in my opinion. If it's not pointless to you, then you'll pay for it. I pay $40 every 3 months to play this game. That is not exepnsive by any means. I play ALL the time and have only begun to get anywhere on 2 characters.

Yes I think that it is total BS that they want us to pay more to have 8 characters, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. I'm sure as hell not going to pay $21 a month to have 6 other characters that I "dabble with" sitting at my log on screen while I try to push my main further and further. Either dish out the money, or don't. It's not a difficult decision. Sony is a business. Businesses are created to MAKE MONEY. They make money buy selling what people want.

If you want it, buy it. If you don't, move along please.

I dont even play EQ2 or EQ i hate them both. They both are nothing more than time sinks. How much fun could it be to kill a friggin rat over and over again?I got into the EQ2 beta and i thought it was the biggest piece of junk id ever played. They picked the easiest route in developing EQ2 and just made it for questing.

Yeah real groundbreaking.Where have i seen questing before?Oh yeah, IN EVERY OTHER FANTASY GAME MADE!!!,

I played the original EQ for a week and thats even worse than its sequel. But hey dont feel bad im an equal opprotunity hater when it comes to fantasy games.

I hate them all.WoW is also a piece of you know what.

Yes SOE does need to learn how to keep its customer base.Fine charge for the little extras but give out expansion packs for free.

The sad part about it is SOE has a huge cash reserve so they never really feel the pinch from players leaving.

This is one craptastic game.Go ahead flame me i dont really care.

You dont have to have the extra website features, no point besides to brag if people view your info. I do agree that they are starting to become a little greedy, but it doesnt mean that you have to buy into it. I will stick with the 15 bucks a month and play an awesome game for that.

So AO is using every gimmick at their disposal to get more players into the game, and you're criticizing SOE for charging people for their brand new game?

    Gimme a break.

As far as clicking through a bunch of garbage you had to decline to sign up, well, have you EVER used the internet to purchase ANYTHING? Most online purchases require you to decline at least one thing to get through it, and all of them will at least offer suggestions of other stuff they think you might want.

SOE is a company like any other company. They're a business, not a charity. Get over it.

It are posts like these that are the reason I don't frequent this forum as much. Personal attacks against other people are just uncalled for and shows a lack of respect. I guess the mods and admins have laxed the CoC rules interuptation.

Greedy SoB aren't you? Hey you get 4 slots for that 15 bucks and YOU DONT have to take any of the EQ2players additions thats all Extra crap you only need if you wanna look at a bunch of crap offline wise.

If you want the extra slots and you play other SOE games the Access Pass is a total bonus.  I play other SOE games including the original EQ game so I think it sall Fair to offer those of us that have been around for several of their games and still play several of their games some sort of benefit for putting up with and dealin gwith alot of BS from people who like to cry like you.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

I agree. I think it is very cool that Sony gave the people who play EQ1, Planetside and whatever other games are in that pass the option to jumble all of their games into one thing, and then perk it with 4 more slots for EQ2. It more than likely is saving them at least SOME money. Very cool of them to do. Of course I think that EVERYONE should have 8 slots, but that is an entirely different topic.

I just made up my mind.  My 30 day trial ends 12-31.  If the servers aren't up by Sat. morning, I am gonna go out and buy WoW to get my evercrack fix.  SoE may lose my $15.
