1.Why should one use a weapon, when melee os the OP part. Tipical run forward the rain of bullets, and stab the enemy 2 times and he is dead, but the 800 bullets cut not kill you LOL
2.The movment of the chrs are a total joke, if you are not runing forward
Yikes... guess I'll be following any video releases closely for a while. I really liked what's been said of the game, but that video looked... rough, and the combat really... not fun.
Hahahaha..wtf? that guy running with dual blades looks as if he is stabbing himself. No offense but these are some of the worst animations i have ever seen and i always try to keep a positive outlook to previews.
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible
I think it looks pretty decent, graphically. The animations aren't the best, but they aren't the worse. The combat? Well I don't know, it looks alright, but one would have to actually try it to get a feel for if it's good or not.
I hope they have one of those open beta's so we can give it a try before they release heh

There is plenty of time to work on melee vs range balance. And maybe kiting will be viable. You can't judge every aspect of balance from a single video.
As for animations, we can hope they're not final. That's stuff is pretty easy to change.
1. stay in one spot clicking hot bar icons to fire repeatedly til either person falls down dead.
2. no element what so ever to use the environment for cover or strategic use, just run infront of enemy and hotbar away
3. broadway shuffle with glowsticks (daggers) in hopes it will make them run faster before they get auto targetted to death by
professional hotbar clicking.
4. circle strafing is gonna be hillarious, tack on the dragon punch for jesus melee attacks while broadway shuffling around their enemy.
5. Backgrounds are pretty
final thoughts on this: if this is what they pass for mmorpg with guns and, melee attacks in this game, then ill be sure to wait for Tribes Universe to come out. or maybe even Planetside Next

agreed,
Everquest's new horse cashshop items takes the belt with their Benny Hill abilities.
This game SCREAMS potential! I really can't wait to see how they further develop this game. I am defiantly going to follow this game like people followed EvE.
Video is a total let down. I guess the only thing this game has going for it is the sandbox elements (so far only on paper). There is nothing in this video that would warrent spending money or TIME on it.
I am actually quite sad. I had some hopes that this game could be a real steal among many bad apples. But I would rather play ToR og even WoW than this, judging from the video. And I not a WoW fan (not the least interested to play it again) and vehemently hate what Bioware is doing with the Star Wars ip. But as much as I am a fan of sandbox the combat in this Earthrise video was really bland bordering the insanely boring.
All the environments looked dreary, not in a cool way, as post-apocalyptic landscapes could be cool, not it just looked dreary. Maybe the video was low quality sampled because on 720p it looked like porridge regurgitated.
Interestingly the official forums is all happy replies ... I wonder if people are just afraid of burning their beta chances... because how that video can inspire happiness is beyond me.
Each to his own. I still dream of the day where a worthy sandbox game gets top development. Oh and the music that was slapped on is a let down. Seems to me that the sandbox crowd - myself included - are treated only to sub-par games like Darkfall (yikes!), Fallen Earth (no thank you, absolutely no!) and this Earthrise...
I guess I will hold my breath until The Secret World comes out - here's to hoping that it will be a great game.... with at least some sandboxiness to it.... (pretty please)
Awhile back, I said Earthrise looks like a FFA sanbox version of Tabula Rasa. Seeing the beta video, it REALLY looks like a sanbox version of Tabula Rasa. Pretty excited about this one, I want a sandbox TR
Still, not giving my hopes up. TR obviously launched with serious problems, I never bought the game myself. I liked the idea and enjoyed it for awhile in OB, but in the end couldn't justify a purchase. However, putting TR combat into a sandbox world would make all the difference. The biggest problems I can see Earthrise having are unbalanced pvp, bugs, andunfinished features; long as they avoid letting the details bite them on the ass this could be a successful niche title.

When will it be released ?
Was looking foward to this game...but that combat does not look remotely fun.
3min of movie and i can all ready see:

Beta is beta, I hope.
He shot one guy right out of his clothes! The knives for hands guy runs like a dork.
But...it's better than just screenshots. Combot looks marginally more exciting than Eve and Perpetuum. Wonder how well the sandbox stuff is done?
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
hope u are right about the beta is beta

Wow, I am really disappointed. I had been watching this game for a while and this video makes it look bad. The animations are really terrible.
Hopefully it is a long way from finished.
Is there any news on a release date ?
Well, the footage doesn't look good.
Bland environments and very slow paced combat...
Which doesn't mean there isn't a fun game beneath, but it doesn't exactly help me to get excited for this again.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

hmmm it looks rather bad.
It is only beta so we shal see.

Bland environments? Are we watching the same video?
There are very nice doodads to be seen, like the super mushrooms or whatever they are, but the environments are bland yes.
Have a look at the terrain in between this stuff: big bland landscapes of copied green / brown / grey terrain is what I see.

I can't get the site to load up for some reason. Looks as though I've been IP blocked tbh.
Is this the video in question?

Yep that's the new beta video
Righto. Thanks
looks better than the last combat vid, but other than that will wait to try it out and see what it's like for myself

I agree. The combat and character animations still have a ways to go in my opinion, but it's better than the previous combat vid.
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
