Keep us posted on your clan name and how it goes.

I am on a really "casual" schedule now due to RL, but I would like to join up with a clan once I get some solid blocks of free time. I'm in Asia atm, so if you need a night crew to keep an eye on clan holdings, that could be do-able later on. I usually play during Oceanic prime, which is around server reset time.

sounds good im from NY but i play late night till almost server down and then on weekday i sometimes get on really early till the afternoon. I know enough people to make a clan and get into some action and possibly a holding.

i was thinking about giving the game a try...

    quick question:

if you guys are in elf area, does that mean an orc or one of those werewolf folk can't go over and join you?  is it essentially a suicide mission or is it more like eve where one'srace really doesnt matter too much....

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

you can play with any race but say if we are elfs in eld lands and ur an orc u wont be able to go into our racial npc cities the guard towers will kill you. but we will be living out of a player city where race doesnt matter as long as you own the city or are allies with the owner of the city.

Be honnest please. How do you plan to help new players to raise their skills/spells, specially those who think about pvp most of the time? If i dont get the type of answer i want, then im not interested.

There are many way to help people skill up and help new players. Gear, gold, advice/tips, regs, and the confidence to play with a group of players who have fun and are friendly. Having practice duels, and taking new players to test there skill when they have they feel comfy to try it out.

This comes aacross as a poor attitude.  For the record my guild helps people who help themselves (I'm sure the OP is he same).

    • If you PvE and skill-up on your own  we will provide you weapons and armor (free)

    • If you are working hard I will personally take you out for melee power leveling

.....but I ask for things in return.

    • We fight as a group.

    • Have your heals and use them.

    • We don't need leeroy jenkins, when fighting as a group stay ranged.

    • Don't combat loot.

    • No drama.

    • Share the loot.

    • The team always comes first.

That's how I've done it since I started out in Darkfall well over a year ago. It's much more enjoyable to actually play the game you're paying for.

I can think of quite a few people who never really experienced much of the game because they were too busy focusing on development and AFK macroed for caps. These people barely even get to play . .. and to think of how the grind was reduced so they wasted a lot of money and time when it came down to it when they could have just been playing the game that they were paying for. It used to takes months of hardcore macroing to attain what a casual player can gain now adays after a month.

When i asked my question, i were looking at the exact opposite of what you just said. Since you seem to plan to stay as a small or medium clan and dont think about exploiting the game, i doubt some of you will stay online to allow us to Blood Wall on you. This is what i need, the reason why i join a large clan like Dark Hand of Valor instead.

During my total of 45 days in game, playing legit is all i did. Swimming was the only thing i did while at Work/Gym.(I never keep my computer open over night) After i reported my stats, skills in the forum, most players said that i were slow because i dont have mastery yet or witch brew. Those who play legit are the one saying that im slow BTW.

So, wait teal i get Mastery and magic school high enough, or once offline progression get in and i will join you guys. It just pumped me up when i saw someone reporting that he got GS mastery to 50 under 3 days and he was already pvp viable.

This is a good example of your problem.

DHOV is a clan of good guys.  They even have a few good players like Collasus and Risky.  However, you won't learn much from joining them.  Thier PvP ability is nearly  non-existent:

    • Outside of Collasus they have no PvP leadership

    • They do not group up and PvE.  This how you will gain most of your skill.

In short they don't really help you skill-up efficiently and they woon;t teach you the PvP skills you need to survive.

You are clearly one of those guys who will macro non-stop while my gathering alt will actually gain skill at a faster pace played with fewer hours.  If you aren't willing to put the time in and play the game, MMO's in genral are not for you.  In every other game you need to put in the time.  In WoW you will grind instances, in DAoC/WaR you will grind instances or keeps (PvE) non-stop for rep, in EvE you will either PvE or logout for a year before you are viable.

Your post is 100% accurate. Just saying...

1st of all, its not my problem. Just want to point that away. If balance between real life and the time i take to play an mmorpg is what you concider a problem, its your own opinion. I got to level 70 in wow under 2 months BTW. Remember that wow also got an offline progression system, its what darkfall is getting and what will fix his grind problem.

BTW, you are wrong. DHOV, They do group up and pve. Its a large clan so its obviously a fall statement from you.  Unless grouping up for you mean that a vet is a must to concider a pve team as a group. Beside, Risky and the others afk progress all day in town on blood wall. I do not need to get babysitted either, its not what i consider fun. I really dont see why grouping up with other newb's when you are one is suppose to be a problem. Thats the DF problem, not us.

And i got enough player skills anyway. All i need is the skills in game, specially spell utilities and buffs. DF videos + my previous fps game experience is the way i learned how to play DF.

For your last paragraph, just want to say that the only time i do macro, is when im away, when i need to do something else. I never login, stay in town and let my character do his thing alone while im on the computer. What i mean is, macroing is better then loging out or stay online everytime you need to do something else.

Best of luck Skully.  Your schedule is pretty much identical to mine, I play after hours until server down and then few hours in the late morning/afternoon.

Anyway, on the subject of macroing and whatnot.  I think anybody that refuses to do it is in denial or isn't competitive in nature... or is Destroyer/Mage Killer or whatever other gimp spec there is (Edy I'm looking at you!!lol).  I've seen both extremes, and both are equally stupid in my opinion.

The ones that always macro are plain .... slaves.  They spend all their money/time and even real life money on regs and whatnot, hoping that 'one day' they will be skilled enough to venture into a real (or virtual in this case hehe) world and have some fun, and do some pvp.  However, the devs will have it that you are never ever really done, there is always something to grind, so they are stuck macroing for months on an end and eventually just fade out.

The ones that refuse to macro and/or afk swim and whatnot, are just gimping themselves.  Some things you simply can't achieve in any reasonable amount of time if you 'just play the game'.  Take a simple heal self spell from lesser magic school.  How many times does it take to cast that to raise it to 100?  Who knows, but the answer is A LOT, and if you only used  when  you 'just play' the game...aka when you need it, it would be years before you maxed it.  Now multiply that with all the magic schools and all the magic spells and it becomes mind boggling.

The best thing to do is balance things out.  I 'just play' the game when I'm online, go and kill mobs and grind up my magic/melee/whatever, it goes up faster when you are doing PVE.  If PVP comes along the way, all the better, heck at least few times a week I pack some crap gear and go somewhere random to do some PVP.  But, when do go afk, I will at least leave my toon afk swimming if nothing else, there is no reason not to.  Leave him sprinting and casting heal self, leave him macroing a self buff from a magic school that I need few more points in to get the spell that I want, to reduce the actual grind, and to give yourself a better morale boost as you are progressing through things faster.

But it should be said that there are those that really do 'just play' the game, and those are the people that in no shape or form can be considered competitive in PVP.  Nothing wrong with that if you enjoy the game and that playstyle.  But that's definitely not everybody's cup of tea.

Hopefully afk-whatever will be a thing of the past tho, after this week's patch, with the offline skilling.  I pray they do it right, I really don't need to swim any more.  I've been swimming long enough to circle the world of Agon at least 49 million times.
