I love how people continue to claim it'll be instanced like the first game, but I read the guild wars 2 page and watch the maniphesto video and both claim they are dropping the instanced worlds so they can make it persistant and "DYNAMIC" but hey perhaps I am biased, loved the original trilogy play it to this day from 2004, this is my reason oh and the NORN :D

People really need to do their research, or at least watch one of the many gameplay developer commentaries before having their opinions lead by their own misconceptions.

Last I heard in order for them to make the dynamic events possible is they would need it to be a seemless open world otherwise how do you perform dynamic events if you are already in a party with someone and know what is going to happen? Commen sensee people... Anyway the only instance I think I heard them say will be the pvp zone like guild wars classic.

  • AblestronAblestron Member Posts: 333

the only instances they will have will be

    1 your personal home district

    2 PvP

    3 dungeons

the rest of the pve map is open to all players at once, and thats like 97% of the map is open to players

there is even an entirely different map called the mists which is open world pvp that consists of servers ("worlds") fighting against each other

so dont even worry, the only instances they have now are whats necissary to maintain the fun, who wants their personal house to be crammed full of noobs, or who wants another group of people trying to ruin your dungeon run?

    1: Dynamic Events

2: Death to the Holy Trinity!

    3: No monthly fee!

I liked and played GW1 for a long time, so naturally I'm interested in playing GW2.

This. I have been waiting for GW2 long before it even appeared on this site.

  • jaxsundanejaxsundane Member Posts: 2,776

I wouldn't say my interest in the game is really all that high, I played GW1 and thought it was a good concept just not for me so I played it for maybe a month or so at launch.  I respect what NCsoft has done as a company with GW1 and not charging a sub fee especially so I have no problem showing them support again.

Add to that the fans of the game seem to be pretty enthusiastic about what they see, and I like the few things I've read about and I expect to get a similar experience if not better one than I got playing the original.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

    None of the above.

I just started a while back cause I read that Gw2 will be a persistent world anda friend told me about the Hall of Monuments in Gw1 and that it will give you bonu stuff in Gw2. I love the artwork and the things I've seen so far about the game so I bought Gw1. Can't wait for the 2nd!

I just recently (very, VERy recently) found out about this game. I had known GW1 as a MMO-hybrid, where you could only be with other people in cities, and had never been interested.

But just now I found out that GW2 is gonna be a full-blown persistent MMO world. This got me excited. The videos I;ve seen so far are absolutely amazing; it seems to combine visuals and gameplay.

Thank god i was unaware of its existence and found out just now so close to release, cause the waiting would have been a torture.

Agree, played GW1 and it was great when it had a PVE population.  The drip drip of information about GW2 makes it sound proper good.   Was gonna make comparisons to GW1 but whats the point they are diferent games and 7/8 years apart.

just what makes you think that its close to release and that you dont have to wait ?

well, word on the street is that GW2 is to be released at some point in 2011.

I mean, it would have been a much longer wait, had I first heard about it back in 2007...

Actually and this isn't meant to put a damper on things, but any release date stated is speculation.  GW2 offical release date is and has always been when it's ready.  many speculate that it's going to be out near the end of 2011 or the near the start of 2012.

So even under speculation you still have just about 1 year left.  Not real long but in my opinion wouldn't really be close to release date either.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

Yeah, and they actually seems to mean it too. If certain other companies would have done so their games wouldn't have done so badly...

While GW2 looked fine in the demo this autumn it seems like they still have work to do. But I am happy with it, waiting until a game is ready is the only way to do and if it takes 4 months or 16 isn't a biggie to me if the game is good enough.

As for close, I heard about it when GW:EN released and it is a lot closer now, but it is not time to get really hyped up yet. Besides, I still need more of those HoM points. :)

It's easy to see why. With this kind of game it is much easier to convince the investors to release it when it is ready.

That, for me. I really can't afford subscriptions just because I don't believe in my own self-control, but I can afford console games since they're a one-off purchase and if GW2 can be sold like console games... heck, I'm in.

    Four words.....Realm vs realm conflict

and the fact there is no ongoing expense unless I choose to incurr it.

  • PalebanePalebane Member RarePosts: 4,011

I voted none of these, though the two reasons I have could conceivably fall into graphics and design. The two main reasons I am looking forward to GW2 are:

    1. 3 faction PvP

    2. Race selection

Also, they have stated that they are trying to bring the community together in this game instead of having mechanics that tear it apart like so many current MMORPGs. Time will tell if they can pull that off, but it would be a very welcome change in my opinion.

To be honest, I chose Art design.

    Why?

Those guys are totaly MAD at recreating / creating a UNIQUE world where you can build an entirely unique avatar that will fit you perfectly.

Almost nobody in the game will look the same, or will have the same accomplishments, and this is part of the design too!

I think the most important thing to remember is the social aspect of a game as well.

GW2 will be completely unique as you will have more ways to interact with other players than just the original game itself.

Mini games will add a lot of fun! Makes me want to try a RP server for once, when I always only considered PVP servers in other games.

I wish to explore craft skills even more now that you can uncover unique recipies, imagine being a successful tailor or armorsmith.

Think about it: being the only one to be able to craft a true black tabard, or the only Fire Armor in the game. How your team mates will benefit from this.

That is the awesomeness of the art system GW2 is teasing us with.
