I think people are just witnessing smaller companies close up shop over an MMO tanking (like APB), and what they aren't considering is that this *isn't their only source of income*. Ask yourselves these questions.
Is DCUO failing going to make SOE go bankrupt?
Is SW:ToR failing going to make EA go under?
...
Why would you assume *one game* is going to do that to SE? It's a powerhouse of a publisher AND developer. Hell, Atlus has more riding on their in-house games, and they publish more 3rd party crap than the Wii handles shovelware.

Square Enix eats Blizzard for breakfast, has lunch on EA and snacks up Konami and Namco for Dinner. If anything SE will just buy Blizzard, remove jumping from WoW and make all characters into Tarutaru, Galka and Elvan.
Games are still 52% of SE income. 109.9 BILLION Yen
The Income is up 5% across the board. ROI is up 3 %.
Recurring Income and Game sales more than DOUBLED! Games are the BIG income: 254% compared to last year!
So yeah, SE will go bankrupt and merge again. Thats a laugh!

no not with the kind of money they are making now or the games in the future... keep dreaming lol.
With what have they been making money lately? its defintely not from FF frenchise.
You do realise that their action figures and plush dolls from the series can finance a small nation by themselves, right?
Heheh, to be fair, merchandise is only $10 Million USD but considering the ROI on that it's pretty neat. Games still beat everything else they do with about $250 Million USD.

No way square has become the new acclaim. Theve gotten big. They gobbled up Eidos and other companies. I think there sitting pretty. They do anime as well so theyre a cash cow. You cant base a company sucess on just two games. Yeah 13 was more like a movie but won awards. Dragon Qusest is still the best rpg ive played and they ruined it by putting it on the Wii. And they know about the mishaps theyre having with 14. If they were wise they would release Dragon Quest on Ps3 and 360. Now just fix 14 and stick to what they know and things will be even peachier.
I'm personally hoping they make some amazing games so people start investing in them again. But......
All they have left is Versus >,<
LOL just because final fantasy 14 is sliding does not mean they will go bankrupt. They make and maintain many other games. The title of the thread is rediculous.
Yeah total rubbish, you would have to be utterly slow to put all you eggs in one basket. Se does other ventures to, like publish anime. 14 will be fixed and rereleased for ps3. I would love to see dragon quest on the ps3 and 360 i think they made a mistake there when it went on the WII. Square enix is too good to leave the game.
I'd seriously like to know how much cash they make with their handheld titles alone. They're so cost-efficient yet they sell more than many other big budget console games do.
Too bad Full Metal Alchemist ended. I bet they made a fortune out of that franchise.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
Unfortunately they don't split up games into console, pc and handheld in the financial report. Handheld is probably the biggest ROI factor considering the much lower production costs.
They have a mind blowing USD $1,329,527,505 in cash. Watch them buy some more companies in the future. They are on the way to become the Entertainment giant of the world.

Heheh maybe they eat Activision. Or all the others MMORPG companies. Would be sortof fun people ccomplaining stupid SE will boycott them I will play mmorpg X which is much better but turns out to be owned by SE too. :P
Annd please take my answer not serious in that case.
Once they start acting like Activision I'll sure as hell boycott them. At least now they have some originality left instead of rehashing everything under the sun.

I really dislike Activision Blizzard special their management lead and how the reuse things over and over again take 'Guitar Hero' as an example.
Or the way how Starcraft 2 got splitted up now in three games because of to much content and lots of other descisions they made.
To be fair other manager sthink and act propably the same way as the one from Activision but never saw someone that arrogant as they have. That person really does not play the games he is responsible I would say.
No. SE is too big to fail. They expected XIV to be in the red from the start, so they have enough money that they can afford to loose some.
Their entire future is not riding on just one game.
=========================
I wouldt say that any companies expect to be in the red like this. I would say it is ridiculous to say that SE would ever go bankrupt though because of this. They make far too many games, albeit mainly crap for the past few years. Its kinda how we all went to see the new star wars movies because we remember the originals being so great. That is the same way that SE runs pretty much. But like David Bowie, they have their hands in the production gig more so than actually making decent games.

Played:FFXI, WoW, LOTR,EQ. Playing:FFXIV.
Looking Forward To:DCU, SWTOR.
Not at all, a couple of bad games does not ruin a major player, look at EA.

Do note that Square Enix is just not a game making company. Also Manga/Anime. To many fan's and support to go backrupt, merge possible tho...
