What will Rift be featuring?!

thorppesthorppes Member Posts: 452

OK first of all it's probably wise to note I'm not knowledgable about this game at all.

I know Rift will feature your standard quest and leveling system, instanced dungeons and dynamic events in the forms of elemental rifts.

What other features will Rift have upon release?

How is PvP done in Rift?

    Rift will feature Rifts.

As explained in the trailer that was released a few days ago... Rifts interact with the world in many different ways and can be used for PvP purposes as well. You can release a Rift close to an enemy foothold and watch the Rift take over that area.

IMO In a sandbox you have many ways to do things. Not only whether the content is player-created or not.

For example, if someone decides to level 1 class to 40, one to 30 and two more to 50 with a same character that can be considered "making up your own content". Some may prefer just leveling one class to 50. That guy has less "content" to do than the first guy.

Also "how do I accomplish what I want to do?" Can I level strictly by doing PvP or instances? Can I grind monsters in a group or do quests on my own? Or maybe in a dynamic content-style event with lots of participants? Just crafting? Or gathering?

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

    RIFT has multiclassing sorta.

Basically you pick if you're a warrior, rogue, cleric, or mage. Then each of those have 8 "souls" (sort of like classes) that have talent trees you spend "soul" points in to progress. Then you can have up to 3 souls active at a time and spend points across them accordingly. You can also save up to 4 builds that you can switch in a blink of an eye depending on the role you wish to serve.

PVP has open world PVP with contested territory zones on designated servers. Looks like flagging for PVP can happen under consentual circumastances on any server. Some zones will have PVP objectives built in to them maybe. There's Warfronts (Battlegrounds) with objectives you're used to seeing.

That's what's on the table. NDA lifts you'll see a bit more.
