This is just for all the lifeless folks that have nothing better to do other than flame hard working people who have given up an insane amount of their time to try and get the Servers back up.

 

GO OUTSIDE!! GO TO THE MALL!! GO TO THE MOVIES!! GET OFF YOUR FAT ARSES!! And stop Bitching.  It happens, no one not even the devs could of expected this.  These people work insane hours all the time, they work and slave.  Working in the game industry is the hardest industry to work in, it burns programmers out in less than 5 years.  It can destroy or even make married living a nightmare, it can make even getting a girlfriend or a boyfriend incredibly hard.  Stop whining and live with the fact the servers are down and your getting a refund for the missed TIME. 

 

If you can' tget out of chair cause your glued to it then by all means keep eating junk food till you choke because nothing you do say or cry about is going ot make the game come back faster.  It is stressing I sat for hours myself playing another game in hopes EQ2 would come up but you dont see me crying because for 1 WHOLE night i couldn't play!

Anyway rant over, just tired of seeing desperate lifeless please moaning about a game.  Its an MMO its software, nothing is perfect.  Get Over It.

    That’s not the issue, i think we all have jobs and family’s and stuff to do outside of the game. The main thing is. Is this what a costumer of SOE shuld expect when you get an SOE game? I know that nothing is perfect and that its a software.. bla bla bla.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    Thing is would you be so patient if it you where in the store w8ting for something and no that worked there could tell you when to come back and get it. We are paying for this. I don’t want to sit and w8 thinking it will be up soon. They can just say. The servers will be up in 24h plz don’t sit and w8 we have a problem. And set an ETA of 2 days if they don’t know.

    This is not the time to defend SOE. I’m not saying that SOE are full of **** like sum of you are just that we a paid and we expect some service for it, INFORMATION!

    This is a discussion forum, that’s what we do discuss things. And today the topic is DOWNTIME. You seem to want do stuff in RL, so go do it.

    Im defending sony for the pure fact I know what its like to be in their position when your software suddenly stops working.  It took my team a day and a half to get all the bugs back out in a rollback.

    I'd much rather be playing the game, but im tired of hearing people cry after 12 hours.  Its the first time this has happened in the game.  If it starts happening frequenly then yea theres a clear reason to complain.

    btw THEY ARE GIVING US REFUNDS ON MISSED TIME so ...shut up.

     

    And since you missed the point to my post yea shut up again!! NONE of these posts are discussions of the down time its all crying boo hoo sony sucks blah blah.  If it becomes a discussion then ihave no problem with it.

    All I was asking for was more information, so we don’t sit and w8 for the servers to go up. That’s what I find most annoying about this.

    Hi all, well i think it's just one of those things, we all experience problems in our day to day lives, the car breaks down, they can't get the part in for a couple of days...you wait, etc.

    I was an avid player of EQ and many other MMO's and this is just one hiccup in a so far in a very good product.

    I live in the UK and it hit me right at prime play time, but heck it happens, I caught up on the RL stuff, bills, washing clothes, tidied the flat lol, when it comes back up i'll play. I expect good service like everyone else, and I think we are getting it, they are working flat out to fix the problem and thats good enough for me, they are entitled to a break as well, I mean come on we all need to eat, drink rest for a few, and reading the EQII Forums its like some people don't think they deserve that, that's just out of order, they are human too.

    Anyway back to my movie lol.

    After 24 hours of downtime I think all the flamers are justified.  24+ hours of downtime for any type of network is unacceptable.

    I did, and I bought WoW.  While I feel its not as good of a game as EQ2, I have lots of friends playing it....and their servers are a bit more stable.  This is the 4th day of problems which prevented me from playing, and only being able to play a couple days a week makes that a very high percentage downtime for my concerns.
    It happens, no one not even the devs could of expected this.  These people work insane hours all the time, they work and slave. 
    I'm not in the game industry but I'm a Senior Network Engineer who helps keep a very large network (5000+ users) running.  Before you try to compare our 5000+ users to the hordes of EQ2 users, our network offers litterly hundreds of applications, hundreds of databases, hundreds of mail servers, hundreds of offices, many remote access servers, mainframes, mac (ug!), and PCs, hundreds of wireless networks, video conferencing, VOIP, hundreds of VLANs, hundreds of custom applications and more networking related equipment than I care to mention.  EQ2's network serves only a few major functions, so although they may have more users their network is far more simple than mine. 
    Point being we've never had an outage last more than 12 hours, and thats because we have a backup plan for every possible situation.  We've lost entire offices due to various natural disasters and lost connection, Houston flooding, San Fran earthquake, 9/11 (a regional HQ), and we've still been able to recover within 12 hours, at the most.  EQ2 can't make a single application work within 24 hours?  C'mon, how can they NOT have a backup plan for 1 single application?

    Its their chosen profession, I have no sympathy for them.  And just about every real career puts stress on your out-of-the-office life, so whats that have to do with anything?  Nothing, unless of course you are just some fanboy burger flipper who doesn't realize the stress of a real career.  But its far from being the hardest or most stressful industry.  Its an entertainment industry filled with fanboys like you who will praise them no matter how poor of a job they do.  How can that possibly be the toughest industry to work in?
    Stop whining and live with the fact the servers are down and your getting a refund for the missed TIME. 
    We are not getting a "refund", we'll get additional free play time.  As I canceled my account before coming here (since SOE's message boards are down, probably because they fear bad press over this incident, no news is good news in that respect), I wasn't offered any type of refund.  They are giving their remaining customers more time, probably something like a week or two, maybe even a whole month, give people more free time, they'll play (and pay) even longer.  They don't care about us, they care about our money.

    Yup, my rant is over too, WoW is just about done installing, time to spend my limited free time playing a game that actually works :)

    I can live with the servers being down and, personally, wouldn't mind if the dev's took their time and didn't kill themselves trying to rush to bring the servers up. But, I can also see the customers' views. The customer has a right to be upset about a paid for service being down, especially over the weekend. "The customer is always right." Right?
