I'm not going to get into it... but when I look at the last HoC chatlog.. and compare it to this one.. they really.. really look similar in many ways. It would be interesting to see how many of the questions were the same/similar and if they had the same/similar answer.

That was an intersting read lol, guess i am bored yes
All sounded good to me ,i liked the questiosn and the answers.
One thing i noticed msot people don't realise when asking for things ,was mentioned in large scale battles. It is not just in large scale but also anywhere in a game. This is LOD [level of detail].There is no magic solution,i tire of people blaming a developer for large scale lag,it is GOING to happen, there is no magic formula. So what Henrik is going to do is make the game look worse, lower the detail in large scale battles,to lessen the load.
Is this what people want,to play a game that is all low detail, just so they can have large scale battles?I am not in support of that,i want my game to look as good as possible,i don't want scenery phased out,or players dissaappearing,or mountains that look like a plain grey mesh,it ruins the whole purpose of the game ...immersion.If everything looks poor/fake then it just doesn't look at all imo.
I guess it is a fine line,PC's can't handle too many polys, all high detail,it just isn'tgoing to happen,so it is up to the develoepr to keep it looking as good as possible.I do not beleive in a developer making a game look just awful to appease a few more customers,if yo uhave the ability to make a great looking game,i say go for it,others want to play, upgrade.

There are methods and tricks to handle large numbers of units and players without simply lowering graphics across the board, Wizardry. The problem lies in the fact that by default the UE3 engine isn't optimised for that kind of thing, so any solution SV implement would have to be built from the ground up. Are they capable of this? I'm going to look at past experience and sat no.
unfortunatly SV carries on doing the same thing. Which is tell the community what they want to hear in order to keep the subs active, and fail at delivering.
When you use 99,9% of your budget on big name engine and it fails to meet your needs...you're pretty much screwed.
