Going on 24 hours and eq2 servers still down

LeppardLeppard Member Posts: 21

Boy... something really must've been screwed up. We're thinking some kind of hacking into their servers to cause such a long downtime.

This sucks... i'm holding my wow pre order receipt in my hand wondering if I should make the trip to best buy or not....GRRRR

Well I don't want to support further whinning but I think, their rollback/backup System didn't work
because they didn't really test it till yet ::::08:: and now they have to manually rebuild the data ::::18::

I am really upset with the fact that they have posted (for the past 24 hours) that they will deliver hourly reports on status, and have yet to see one.  They have posted one update in the patch screen (also saying they will give hourly reports) but that still says they are pushing for 7 am pst, and it is 11:30 am pst.  I have looked on the eqII website but havent been able to find any updates, and also noticed the forums are down as well (I am assuming to prevent flamming).

I completely understand things like this do happen, and am not one to flame, but this is really bad IMO.  I for one think they should pro-rate these days (at a minimum) to our account, and hope they will step up to the plate and do the right thing.imageimageimage

There have been hourly (roughly) updates here: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=news_announcements&message.id=37
Currently the servers seem to be slowly going up, thank god I was studying this weekend otherwise I might have been upset.

Perhaps I should say, thank god I the servers was down this weekend otherwise I wouldn't get any studying done ;)

The forums are up again since a while,
and the hourly message you can find
    here:
    http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=news_announcements&message.id=67#M67

The problem with these messages is, that its basically 11times the same message whith random words changed ...
and theres is no info at all about why/what/who/etc.

    update:
ah well the last 2 message gives us at least some bits ::::34::

For all those who lack the patience to wait, and say they are leaving for WoW, "don't let the virtual door hit you in the @ss on the way out see ya!"

Less lag for us who still want to play EQ2, and with your whine mentality, have a ball with the WoW community, you'll fit right in!

couldnt agree more with ya man  image, you guys just need to wake up, and realize that not everything will be perfect, i heard the lead developer on G4 TechTV say that they have a lot of VERY nice stuff in store for us for christmas.image

Subscribers=fixes, content, and support. The more the game loses the worse off it will be. EQ2 is not doing that stellar currently and it's reputation and Sony's is certainly not getting better. If Sony continues to take the attitude of some of the posters and could care less about subscribers it will be a minor player in the MMORPG industry within a few years as EQLive ultimately dies off.

Eh..I've already went out and bought WOW.. we THE CUSTOMERS should not have to accept this kind of garbage anymore.

There are more then enough competition and if SOE can't handle providing us the services they claim, someone else will.

The WoW servers were down for 10+ hours just 3 days ago, so don't think that WoW will be much better, at least not yet.

Actually they were down for four hours for planned maintenance.

Very big difference, but good luck to the people who are willing to wait for Sony to get their act together.

WOW sold out of the initial 350,000 copies and I still can't find a copy in stores yet EQ2 has tons on the shelves. Financially and by subscriber numbers WOW is crushing EQ2. About June or July the long term numbers for both games will be much more clear. I think WOW will be much bigger just because it caters to the casual players which make up a much larger share of the market. Currently my servers have been down for 34.5 hours on a Friday/Saturday. Sony should have learned to NEVER NEVER NEVER put major updates on servers on those days in case things go wrong.

They were down for 4 hours planned maintenance. Then, another 4 hours to fix instances. Then, the login servers were down for more than 3 hours.. So it was 11+ hours.

Yea, the first 8 hours was planned, but servers should never be down for more than 1 hour in a day without a major patch, let alone 11+ hours.

OK, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I experienced four hours of scheduled downtime plus approximately 30 minutes when they took the login servers down due to everyone trying to log in at once.

Hey Sartagis, way to try to turn this into an EQ2 vs. WoW thread. Go troll somewhere else. As far as the servers go, yeah it sucks. But it is in no way going to drive me away from the game. I'm sure SOE didn't plan for this to happen. And as far as I can tell they are really busting their ass to fix whatever problems may have arised. My server was up early Saturday so it wasn't that bad. For all who still can't get in, my heart goes out. I'm sure it's frusturating as hell.

Some servers still down, and 3 free days HA soe has no idea what that means

and wow does. When problems arose in wow 3 days were added at the end of the month to my account.

What does soe do, bug emails account cancle, some make others go through re open re subscribe

Promise three days free bull crud. For those that played first month they already got charged for second month, and those that got hit with the cancle bug are still cancled unless they maunaly hit re subscibe again  and from looks of account no free days are on there.

So thanks for the the 3 days yea right bull..............oh and thanks for the cancle bug too
