I think everyone who plays a game knows that: its quite similar to (let me divert away from MMO analogy because Im not that great at always referencing MMOs) how 1up posted a somewhat-negative review of Golden Sun Dark Dawn, which has been hyped all over the net for years since the announcement for a NDS Golden Sun.

The review, in particular, called out all the flaws that Golden Sun has as a whole.

Players lashed out at the reviewer, which led to a followup article where the reviewer had to explain his real feelings about the game and how he did support the game, but just saw... flaws. Flaws that werent necessarily bad, just didnt make Golden Sun Dark Dawn a perfect RPG. The players didnt LOOK for Golden Sun as a perfect RPG, they liked the story, they liked the series as a whole.

I think, as gamers, we accept the flaws of games we love as much as we love the awesome parts of the game. Its not feigning ignorance, its just part of the quirky charm of an individual game.

You do not have to be a fanboy of one MMO at a time. Feel like playing a sandbox? Go play Saga of Ryxom or Ultima Online for a month. Want some good pvp? Go play Warhammer for a month. Bounce around. No one was really meant to stick with and support ONE GRAND MMO for all time.

Right now, I am playing the new WoW expansion and I am having a blast. Then I come to this place, and it is depressing.

Well, I like staying in a game for long and making friends. Socialization is a key part of MMOing for me. I am still in contact with people from games I no longer play, and I even know some of them in real life now. I like beeing part of a team that works together towards a common goal.

That won't happen if you change game every month. Now, for the typical MMO-soloer that we get nowadays, I guess this is not an issue, but it is for me, and I can easily imagine it is an issue for many others.

If hoping to a new game every month is what you like, I have nothing against that. But I am going to ask you to, please, if you apply to any guild, be honest and say that you are leaving in a month before joining.

    To the OP....

I think you only get depressed if you don't understand the definition of discussion.

Nobody is looking for a perfect game, heck i have played over 500 games for sure,i would be a lier ,if i said i played over 500 perfect games.Nobody is going to stay in the sme game forever, and it is for good reason,ALL these games lose their flavour because they ALL have holes,it is just that i find the majority are afraid to admit it,like they are afraid of something.

See the difference is right here in this thread, the OP says he is having a blast,i say GREAT !I am glad the Op is having a blast, that is the purpose we all seek i am sure. The difference is that the op did not start a thread claiming Wow has the best graphics,or is a polished game or the best quests of any game ever,or Blizzard has stepped it up even further ahead of the competition, all that is bs lies.

So nobody is going to come here and depress the OP because he is having a blast,i say no problem enjoy :D

What the op SHOULD have done however is to at least explain your enjoyment,i mean to start a thread with really no detail is kind of a weak thread is it not? With no detail it more or less looks like the OP is joining all the rest of the Wow players and tooting his own horn..does it not?I hope the OP looks at his thread, all he basically did was start a discussion thread that says he is having a blast, how do we discuss that??

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Well, we don't need to promote Wow thoughts, it do pretty fine by itself.

And the perfect MMO does not exist but that doesn't mean that some are better than others. The sandbox fans are upset because you can count the number of sandbox games that have released the last few years on the fingers of a fan inspectors left hand and most of those games if not all had a really lousy budget. They have actually pretty good reasons for wanting something else.

I don't see any problem with wanting improvements in MMOs. You do have a point that one game for everything might not be the best thing right now, I still have many friends who play Wow or EQ2 for PvE and then play Guildwars (and earlier DaoC) to get some PvP kick.

I'm sorry, but you missed the point of the original post if you feel that it requires posting the details of why he is enjoying a specific game at this moment.

Would discussing the specific details of why he is enjoying the wow expansion really change the overall message or would it just reinforce his statements that wow bashing invades most of the posts here?

    @original poster

Great points all around.  I understand why the overall tone around here is rather glum, because it is reflective of the overall condition of most games.  It would really only take a few decent releases to change that.  At least for a while until people burn through those and end up in the same place.   Here is hoping for 2011 to be better though.

    Well op its really easy

You like the game thats fine and believe I'm happy for you but if you only want to hear good things about WoW you have to visit pure wow fansites outthere such as mmo-champion (which is a shame it should be named wow-champion because this site does ONLY cover wow).

Personally I know what I like and what I don't like most people are just sick of hearing, reading about this game everytime, everywhere. Even biggest Wowlovers have to keep in mind that this game is the exception and not the MMO rule.

Yeah I'm one of these overthinkers but I'm pretty confident in doing so. It just pisses me of that almost every new game is aimed for a dumber crowd with more handholding, easymode its not just MMOs its the gaming industry itself.

I mean, honestly which STF thought it would be cool to having a magical healing while being bucked ->FPS games...Hell even console games are becoming dumbed down there are games where you can skip "hard parts" thats not gaming thats BS.

Yes I do miss the golden days of gaming gaming is a leisure time activity and not business, suits investors should be run out of the industry immediately!

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."

I want a game I can sink my teeth into and play for years, not jump from game to game.  I have been jumping since I left WOW about 9 months before WotLK was released and I want to stop jumping around.  I want to play a deep meaningful game with a good social network.  None exist ATM.  So I jump from Warhammer to Global Agenda to Heroes of Newerth each night trying to find what I want and waiting a rich MMO.
