Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible

The 2011 rpg Goty race is going to be awesome! Mass Effect 3 vs Dragon Age 2 vs TES V: Skyrim. What a great year 2011 will be for rpg fans.

Aww image well forgive my mediocre taste I go bury myself in these games and have fun all the same. I just love it when people think they have superior taste and try to make you feel ashamed of your plebeian ones.

I didnt like ME very much , thought it as way to generic and bland. Havent played the second though but heard it should be better.

I can see where Thillian is coming from (even though it pains me to say it), compared to old RPGs likeBaldurs gate and Planescape Torment theese new RPGs just fall short in every way.

I will never understand why Bioware choose to create the most generic fantasy setting/story ever made (Dragon age) when they got the chance to create something without an existing IP.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

It's the outcome of simplification over the years in almost everything around us. Now it gotten to a stage, when the Mass Effect 2 can be literally played by a trained monkey.

I personally didn't find Dragon Age to be generic at all but I think the big pull for me is that they created a solid game with a good story and tactical combat that is beyond button mashing and included a world most darker than most you can find. It's also one of the few recent games that I found myself actually debating some of the decisions in the game. If this means I'm one of the monkeys Thillian mentioned, so be it.

Well, they did that, with Jade Empire, very interesting and unique fantasy setting, no generic magic, classes and monsters and a pretty good, immersive game. Ironically enough, this game of theirs with the most unique fantasy setting and story was the least appreciated and popular of their titles. So, it wasn't as if they haven't already walked that path.

I'd say that MMO's like ME and ME2 are more action RPG's than classic RPG's.

Anyway, thanks for the trailer headsup, Paradoxy image

Yes, if you're fan of overproduced and overhyped self-proclaimed RPG's. They are all like Michael Bay, lots of money spent on presentation and marketing, and not much left for the actual content and design. Trained monkey could play these games. Average gamer is like an average voter, and it's better to avoid any actual brain activity. It's much more effective to get Michael Sheen as voice actor, do a couple WAU moments, and pay a few reviewers to make it look like everybody loves it.

Is it only me who finds it really ironic that this guy has REALITY CHECK in big bold letters in his signtaure?

Not really, I think he's spot on.

Bioware makes really flashy, "cinematic" driven games these days that feel more like playing an interactive movie than they feel like playing an RPG. As another poster said, they're RPGlite.

Yeah Bioware games are like being in a big budget hollywood movie and it works great that way; Its has amazing story, believable characters, nice visuals and atmosphere. Nothing wrong with that. I am sorry but times have changed and only people who need REALITY CHECK is those who refuse to move on with times.

Insulting and generalising won't help in getting approval of players though.

one dislike about the vid, earth is attacked by them now, by several yet 2 million death on the frist day?  they should have gone for 2 billion and sevean billion a day later hehe.  the most adv and ancient enemy in the mass effect univerce attacks up and we get the treadment of slow death ..meh :)

Remember that the Reapers like to 'indoctrinate' sentients...

They were also kidnapping millions in ME2, so they might have done so again on a larger scale...

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

I'm sorry but Jade Empires setting is hardly original. Instead of making a generic western fantasy world (which they did though with Dragon Age), they made a generic wuxia/Chinese myth world.

Those death counts were in London/UK alone! The total number probably is in the billions.

I knew that little teaser they gave had something to do with Mass Effect, especially after seeing the rifle the guy had.  (Squeals with excitement)
