I voted good enough for me. And they seem to be as good as any current AAA mmorpg soon to release at this time, but having said that. . .isn't graphics a fundamental?
Really, good quality graphics is a fundamental for any current mmorpg, or soon-to-be released mmorpg.
Expecting that there are a variety of classes, open-environmental and dynamic pvevp game-play are all fundamentals.
But what's yet to be experienced is how those fundamentals are implemented in game-play, in order to capture my attention for a very prolonged period of time.
Personally I think the graphics fall in between good and awesome with a heavy lean to awesome. Here is why. I have done some extensive traveling in my life so far, both around the USA and to other countries such as Aruba, Canada, Grand Caymans, Jamaica, Japan, and Mexico. In these places I have seen about everything including badlands, canyons, deserts, forests, hills, mountains, plains, river valleys and much more. Not to mention every climate from Tropical to Sub-Arctic. The screen shots I have seen so far actually make me ALMOST feel like I am back there. Now granted, we could have the Ultra-Realistic graphics of Avatar, but then we would most likely be suffering from so much video lag that playing would be imposible. Especially on lower end machines, if they could play the game at all.
The style of the graphics I would rate on the good to awesome scale as well, but with a slight leaning toward good. Overall though, it fits the feel of the universe it is trying to emulate so I am very happy with the feel. Plus is is a scientific fact that different concentrations of elements in the atmosphere cause a different color sky, which would change the "look" of everything else. So you get a little bit of realism here.
The one thing I think falls short is the proportions for the character models. To me the Twi-Lek head tails are just a little too thick and look unnatural. I also have a prblem when I see characters holding weapons and the grip is wrong. Most times if you look at the hands, they do not fully wrap around the handle of a weapon and as a weapon enthusiast I can tell you I would never use a pistol I couldn't get my hands around. It just kills the accuracy. The lightsabers have this problem too and if you can't hold a "sword" properly, it is very quickly laying on the ground instead of in your hand where it belongs. Lasty on the proportions front is a character in armor. Most screen shots you look at so far show characters who seem to have "normal proportionsof someone in regular clothes yet they are in full armor. From thirteen year of military experience I can tell you unequivically that someone in full armor does NOT have "normal" proportions. Especially when you keep the armor on but remove the helmet. A person in this situation would appear to have a tiny head compared to the rest of the body. Very few screen shots show this though with the characters in the game.
Anyways, that was my two credits worth.
