I came to mmo's to escape fps and the click click click which can be so hard on my hands.

There is quite a bit of clicking I didn't really think about it til you said it though so I can't say it's gotten that bad yet.  I also haven't really spent a long session playing yet either maybe this weekend though.

To the person who mentioned the chat, when it comes to ps3 I'm going to tell you now for people out there without a really nice tv chat is unreadable, as a matter of fact it's a chore to read anything at all.

The first day I played I saw lot's of chat, the next really none at all.  I think though this is a complaint that is going to exist (atleast console side) no matter what unlike COH which I thought had a pretty active and engaging community.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

As an "old fogey", I'll have to agree with the posters here about the excessive clicking. But if that's how they want their game, who am I to object? It's their game. I assume they already know a couple hundred thousand younger folks who will already be lining up to click away on a PS3 controller somewhere, so more power to them.

Not only that, I have a few brain cells leftover from the 80's that are asking why they are being ordered to remember Left Button Tap 2X, Hold Right button, release, Tap 3x to "Block Attack and Counter" all over again. (Apparently, those cells thought we left all that code-clicking nonsense behind with Street Fighter 1).

Most of my friend's my age that have tried it don't really think it's gonna be their thing because of the clicking and retro-style codes to execute moves.

I'm starting to think there is an active conspiracy to get older gamers out of MMOs and into the bingo parlors, leaving nothing but young whippersnappers uberleeting each other...

About as simple and clear as anyone could put it, well said.

100 clicks a minute just spamming incessantly random skills or 100 clicks a minute using strategy worthy of Napoleon is still 100 clicks.

Your fingers don't know the difference. They feel the same at the end of a day of gaming and your mouse hates you.

honestly I saw the title of the thread and what section it was in and thought "comic book geek found his graphics fix huh?" as my first reaction :P

Try using a G11 or G15 keyboard to make macros for your combos.

To much clicking for my liking.  It isn't that it causes me any discomfort, but just seems to be tons of clicking for the sake of clicking.  I don't even feel that the clicking plays as much a factor in tactics and action as other parts of the combat system do.

So far, that's my only real complaint about the game - potential for carpal tunnel/repetitive motion injuries.  I got an achievement for 100 hits in a row.  That's 100 rapid clicks.  My wrist, fingers and mouse are going to get worn out quickly!

You don't have to, some people prefer to though, i've seen people destroy with nothing but their superpower. It just adds a bit more spice to your combat that's all.

That is what I feared most. I can play console style games 1 hour at best. No quite good for what I want from an MMO. :/

i guess once the game goes live there will be tools like 'shadowmate' for Age of Conan to help with  the clicking and combos.

Man I was shocked when I came home from work and this post had grown, lol.

To the 21 year old guy wondering why my hands hurt, imagine 10 years prior to you becoming a fetus I was playing video games all the way up through your entire life as you pood your diaper, learned to walk, learned to talk, went to school your first day, went through grade school, entered high school, got your first girlfriend, your first job, your first car, maybe went on to college and are finishing up.........all that time I've been playing games.  Why do my hands hurt?

Also I do a lot of writing at work.  Tons of paperwork and they are always adding more, so you have to write as much as you can as fast as you can.  Then I am a realistic figurative sculptor, graphic artist and portrait oil painter on top of my day job.  So I do a lot of things with my hands.

I have a g110 keyboard that I bought for AOC but after awhile I just stopped binding keyes because sometimes it can screw you up.  But that is definitely an option.  I haven't been in game since I made the posts so I wanna try the hammer first.

This may have been one of the most awesome posts I've seen on here in a long time sir.

I'm 24 and I wouldn't say that my hands are truly in pain, but it's an obnoxious system. No one has clicked so redundantly and rapidly on the PC since 1997 with the original Diablo.

I don't think I have any problem with remembering combos or carrying them out reflex-wise, but because it's all on those two fingers, it's awfully irritating. I'd rather have 9-button combos that use the entire numpad than something seemingly designed to get me in a hospital with my wrist cut upen ASAP.

I'm about the same age as the OP.  Granted I just started playing last night and have only played up to level 3, but so far the mouse clicking doesn't really bother me that much. It actually seems kinda fun so far. That might change as I get further into the game but what feels awkward for me right now are the keyboard commands.  With most other MMO's you use the mouse for movement and you can mostly keep your left hand on the number keys for your attacks. With this game you have to use the keyboard to move so I'm having to go from my w,a,s,d keys to the number keys and back again. Not used to doing that, and I only have 1 power so far. Hate to think how it will be with more powers. I've tried remapping my movement to left mouse, have a 3 button gaming mouse, but so far haven't come up with anything that really works since I still use A and D to strafe with. Maybe I can get used to it, just have to give it a little time and see.

I just turned 25 years old, and my hands hurt like hell before I completed the tutorial. It was just too much clicking. (Hand power attacks)

I wonder if SOE ever answered to this?

I mean, I love action combat, but what has click 20000 times like mad to do with action? Action was AoC, action was CO. I don't want button mashing.

For all of those that want a ps3 controller on your pc get "Motioninjoy" and your ps3 controller will work on your pc.

I use an aftermarket  controller with bluetooth that works very well.

All I can say is wow. Mid 30s and 40s is not old, imho. I'm 47 and have been playing this game since I got the beta key back in November. I haven't had any problems at all.

There are probably a few people who have legitimate medical issues who probably should not play this game. Carpal tunnel, arthritis, maybe a couple of others. For the rest of us, I don't think you can have exciting combat when you are using autotargeting, auto firing of weapon, auto everything. The best thing about this game is the combat. To dumb it down by making everything autotarget, one click, bam! dead NPC would be a mistake. All my opinion, of course.

There will be no answer to this,  the clicking is the combat system.  Its batman Arkham Asylum - extended.  This is the way it was meant to be.   If you macro your combos which some people have said they have,  you may get by for a bit for PvE,  but on the PvP server you'll lose every time hands down.  A friend in a league had his combos macro'd and I created a villain to test it,  macros don't work very well as thinking on the fly and action/reaction is the way this is supposed to work.  Its like rock, paper, scissors,  just sped up, and the guy who can throw out the right set slightly faster usually has the upper hand.

Those that can't combo as well still have a place,  but action games aren't usually geared to those kinds of players,  its not just DCUO.

I don't see how making everything lock target, click fifty times, bam! dead NPC is any improvement.

It's still mindless, boring combat; there's just more of it packed into a tighter space.
