Sorry guys... I guess I just have different tastes.  Nothing in that video looked even remotely appealing to me.  When we said GM event I thought we were talking about GM's actually playing a character in game.. with talking and giving context/backstory as opposed to just a random spawning of a few mobs that were surrounded and beaten down.

One of my favorite MMO memories was a GM event in Shadowbane.  They spawned and controlled a huge demon who had an army and was recruiting other players to join/follow it.. or attacking and destroying player cities.   My clan was a subset of another larger clan.. we were all Confessors.  We split off and joined the Demonic horde while secretly feeding info to the defenders.   It was a GREAT time.

Second time was on a private UO server where there was a continual backstory about Shadowlords(or something like that) who would pop in and lead small forces against us at random times.  Taunting us..  When we got our first kill of one we were able to dismember it's head and taunt the next Shadowlord with it.  Every day there were GM events like this!

THAT'S the kind of stuff that appeals to me.  THAT is the kind of stuff that I am willing to pay more than the normal sub fee to experience.

Like I said.. nothing wrong with this event in MO.. it's just underwhelming to me, but we all have our own likes and dislikes.  I'm glad some of you enjoyed it and had fun!

This was the first little scripted event, Henrik said it was scripted, they had only to start it.

    Nothink to complain about it

Oh, and we have seen the first epic monster, but no it was flying high. This will be controlled by GM.

was a great event, once hte risar lord was down to 25% hps my alliance and co charged in to take the glory, killing all the other players who mainly scattered and fled before finally killing the risar lord for ourselves. Was a great event that really created excitment within MO and i cant wait to see what else the devs have planned for the citizens of Mortal Online.

15 guys standing in a circle around the boss who is stationary... swinging at him and then stepping back to rest.  I stopped watching after 6 minutes of this... maybe it get's better later on.   Did he drop some named one-time only sword or something?

I dunno... I honestly don't get what you guys are excited about.  I'm not saying you are wrong for liking it... I just don't see anything here that excites me.

meh, all pve in all mmo's looks the same to me, especially watching a video.  It's never as fun watching someone play as it is playing the game yourself.  Maybe that's why some people are so emphatic that MO isn't fun... they're always just watching others play it?

Haha, you keep saying the free trial is imminent, but sadly I think that time is a ways off (a few months, id wager).

If your so curious why not just re-sub? A lot has changed, but you'll get in the swing of things soon enough. Especially since you watch the forums and patch notes so thoroughly, I'm sure you'll grow to appreciate all the features that didn't excite you in writing.

Unless you just start playing with the preconcieved notions that you've held for so long about MO, in which case you'd have just wasted about 15 bucks.

Due to the (IMHO and agreed to by the CC company) fraudulent nature of their pre-order process and failure to deliver a working DVD I obtained a chargeback and refund of all charges + interest.  As such my account was closed... so to see all these changes I would have to purchase the game from the same company... which is never going to happen.   My main issue was originally not with the game but with the company itself and how they took it upon themselves to convert my "pre-order" to an open ended loan which they felt they could extend without limit and without even acknowledging email requests for updates.

I would still take the free trial to see what has REALLY changed, but never in a million years would these guys see a dime of my money again.

    Holy topic derailment, Batman!!!

In a (futile) effort to get this thread back on topic, Henrik has some interesting words today regarding the event:

"Great movie, I loved the ending

I hope to see more of this now when things are "happening" in the world of Nave, I mean something must have made those risars to attack the cave camp right?"

Star Vault sent an email before the game launched telling people that the subscription would start a month after the game's official launch, the date of which was also noted, and that they would have to manually cancel if they didn't want to subscribe.

Show me one MMO where your preorder did not set you up for a subscription to start after the game launched and the free time was up.

Sending out a single email with no requirement for reply acknowledgment  is not legally acceptable in my country (or, it appears, his).

When  the product was bought there was no mention of activating a sub plan, and I am interested in which MMO's have done this previously as I can't think of any (been playing MMO's since M59).

    Can you enlighten me please?

Show me a MMO that does this. All of the ones I've ever played/preordered dont.

On Topic: The risars look like they were computer controlled. It looks pretty boring just standing there whacking a few mobs for no reason.

Actually, it is legally acceptable, by the following line in the Terms of Service:

"THESE RULES MAY BE REVISED AT ANY TIME. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REVIEW THEM OCCASIONALLY TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES, POLICIES AND AGREEMENTS PUBLISHED BY STAR VAULT."

Now, most commerce laws would prevent Star Vault from just going "subscription time!" and charging players, but they are allowed to change prices if they give proper notice. In most countries this proper notice is at least 30 days.

This isn't new, and it happens every day to millions of people. Your phone company, cable company, electric, heat, water, and banks have been doing it for years. If you're not the primary bill payer in your house, pay attention to whoever is, for when they get a letter from the ___ company telling them that costs are going up next month. Granted, in most areas utility companies have leeway with what percentage they can raise/lower without requiring notice.

I'll point you to a case in the opposite direction. When Pirates of the Burning Sea went free to play, they had to make a blanket statement over a month before the launch. The launch was delayed, but they still had to make the announcement that the company's pricing plan was changing because of legal requirements.

Star Vault has always had information on the website that there would be a subscription fee for Mortal Online, although the exact amount was not confirmed yet before the subscription policy went into place. There is no chance you could use the "I didn't know there would be a subscription" in a legal situation and get away with it, all the evidence points to the contrary.

Also: Getting a charge-back applied does not mean that what the company was doing was illegal. Credit card companies and banks will notoriously defend their account holders, and in the case of a reversal of charges where the person puts up a decent argument, they will simply reverse the charges and wait to see if the company challenges the reversal. Bottom line, your bank/card company doesn't have the time to fully investigate, and they care more about keeping you as a customer than they do about Star Vault keeping their fifty bucks. What you don't read about is how if the company proceeds with a response via their lawyer, your bank/card company will buckle like origami and send the charges right back to them. Getting a reversal applied does not make it valid.

the ai works fine, the creature is obviously hitting people they are all just standing around it so it doesnt have to move but when it agros a guy with a bow it runs at him, i think the amonut of players hitting it was making it switch targets to often but it did run aronud and attack often i had to run for my life.  I was there at the event as part of the force that attacked and eventually killed the risar lord. It was a long fight prehaps to long but still alot of fun imo more fun than i have had in all my time of playing AOC EVE EQ2 or SWG.

Also regarding the subscription thing, i live in the UK and have had uk companies change my pricing plan payment amount and other things all through 1 email notification. email and mail are now both acceptable ways of notifiyng your customers of changes and in this case that a subscription would start.
