Impossible?

So here's the deal, I'm looking for a game for myself and my wife to both enjoy. Unforchunatly our playstyles differ somewhat. we both used to enjoy UO it had a great mix of PVP and crafting/animal taming type stuff to do and isn't level / class based. However after 7+ years we got sick of it. (also we didn't like the switch from skill based play to item driven play) We tried many games since attempting to find that same balance of large community, player driven economy, animal taming (my wifes favorite thing to do in any mmo) and open skill/classless system. 

We've tried:

EQ2

about 50 eastern (korean / asian) f2p games

war

Age of Conan

Dungeons and Dragons

darkfall

mortalonline

wow

and many many more.. There were things we like about some of them and things we hated.

I'm personally really against level and class based systems where you do nothing quests and dungeon raids (see WOW and it's million clones) I really love crafting and a good crafting system is a must for me. PVP is also a plus to me, I love both open world PVP and arena/battleground type PVP.

My Wife loves animal taming and doesn't mind the level based/ quest based stuff. But does not like open world PVP.

We both do enjoy story driven worlds at times. Neither of us really like first person PVP or PVE. 3rd person or 2.5 is where it's at for us.

 

I'm out of ideas at this point.. GW2 and the new star wars IP both look promissing however I fear i'll get as bored with GW2 as I did with GW (1 - 2 months many max chars and bored) and neither are out for some time. I'm in numerous closed beta's that can't be discussed per NDA, however I'm finding most of them are just WOW clones .. One in particular even copied the interface down to the smallest details... so much for that over-hyped POS...

 

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Both P2p and F2p are viable for us we don't mind paying for a good game. Free on the otherhand is always nice as well :) however I'm tending to shy away from Eastern made F2p I've just determined that they are not really our style.

    well havent you tried flyff online? or Atlantica ONline? i saw it on the list of the top 10 games released

    have you tried vanguard?  it has pretty good crafting and a huge world to explore... might at least hold you over until some new games come out.

    Mabinogi might be the game for you. It is not level based it is skill based. There are ingame stuff like playing an instrument, working part-time at different jobs and many other things. The game is an mmorpg which gets constant updates. Developers behind the game add new content constantly. It has a different combat system maybe you can find it interesting to learn and adapt to it. I suggest you to search more information about it and give it a try because it has content for different types of gamers.

    Flyff was kind of fun for a little while, but it's crafting system is more of a "add a gem to a sword" system. Vanguard wasn't too bad, but when I played last it seemed to be dying off. I am going to check out Atlantica and Mabinogi, those both look interesting and I've not tried either.

    I agree about the crafting system of flyff and those mats are really hard to get before we are using a syringe type gun looking thingy  to extract those mats kinda hard lol
