Planning on buying this when it comes out in europe, but wanted to hear from the people who are playing the game.
What are the good classes?
I prefer a combat (non crafting) class. What should i look into when i sign in for the first time?
Are any of the classes selv sufficiant (like a doc/swordsman in swg)?
Hope you can help.
Thanks

Which FF Character Are You?
There is no "best" class, though there are some issues with a few of them...
Standard warrior, basic melee class, can use most weapons and uses "styles" to do damage.
Hunter, Mostly range-combat based though you can use melee if you so chose, they get a pet however to help with them.
Warlock, This class is mostly DoT (Damage over Time) and a pet class. Only class with a group summon spell (summon other party members, requires 2 other party members to cast) One of two classes with a class-specific mount
Mage, standard massive damage very quickly spellcaster, nice Crowd Control, only class with a teleportation spell for both self and group. Only class with "blink"
Priest, standard healer, also has some curses (i think) and DD spells. Also has ressurect
Druid, The veritable Jack of all Trades, master of none. BEST buff spells of any class, can shapeshift and be a caster/healer, tank, or rogue equivalent. Very versitile, great class to start with if you don't know what to be.
Paladin, Alliance Specific, Melee class, can heal, has "seals" which give short buffs, also has auras. Best damage soaking class in the game, has trouble holding aggro, however. Only other class with a class-specific mount. Also has ressurect
Shaman, Horde Specific, i don't know exactly how to classify this as i have limited knowledge of the shaman, though i believe they are also a jack of all trades, has a spirit wolf form (travel form) and they can melee, cast spells and heal if necessary.
Rogue, High-damage low armor. Basically a warrior who focuses more on doing damage rather than taking damage, can stealth and has nice styles that add massive damage.
Hope that helps...some...
to my part i prefere use power than weapon, thus i choose mage
But if you want a combative caractere i think Rogue it's fun

The best class is the one you choose it to be. There isnt realy a definite answer to your question. Best class in what? Dmg? Versatility? Casting? Support? Tanking? Pick what you like most and play it.
Rogues - stealth and dmg
Mages - caster dmg crowd control
Warlock - DOT/Curses?/Fear + pet
Hunter - Range dmg + pet
Druid - All in one, but average in all, shapeshifting
Paladin - Secondary Tank/Healer combo
Warrior - primary tank
Priest - primary healer/some dmg spells
shaman - like druid, all in one but average in all

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

Choose Hunter! And a good race for that would be definately Nigh Elf. Half of the players can't be wrong!
No class is better than some other class. The class is as good as you make it to be.
Do you think your Rouge is SUCKY! Well then he get sucky!
If you think your Warrior RULES, well then he rules!
Things are as good as you make it to be!
Yeah deal with it, or else

Like other's would probably agree....some races give small bonuses to the classes that they choose. But all in all, preference ends up the main thing. I like trying to get every advantage possible, no matter how small it is sometime. My 1st character on almost every MMO is a spellcaster of some sort. Warlocks are excellent in WoW if used properly. Generally, though, I go with mages. I preferred alliance this time...dunno why it was a stab in the dark...so i chose humans who have an added bonus on Spirit which will help with mana & health regeneration time. This little bonus might be crucial one day because cloth really doesn't block crap & i need my mana back asap in battle. Enough babbling though...it all comes back to preference. There's no right or wrong race. Just do yourself a favor, read each one's pros & cons, decide which one you'd like the best, and go from there so you don't have to start over characters like i did 4 times before making it past lvl 12.
GL, HF all.

Yeah nuff said, lol jk. I would have to go with whatever class you fell most enjoyable. The game will become less fun if you do it for the uberness.
hope that makes sense.
