I gave the PC beta a fighting chance, but it was so horrible i just couldnt do it anymore. The ui and character options are horrible, probably the worst I have ever seen any any mmo.
the game play is nothing but a mindless click fest, that will in were out your mouse, but not before your fingers fall off from overuse
I am a long time player of CoX, so it IMO is the gold standarrd for hero MMORPGs, and this one doesnt even come close. it doesnt even come close to being good any any category.
bottom line, I wouldnt pay my hard earned money for the game or a monthly, probably wouldn't even play if it was F2P because it just sucks that bad
... click-fest ... you do realize there are patterns right? You can't just click-click-click and be any good.
Good riddance...
Finally making an MMO that doesn't auto attack. THAT's inventive. For once, skill ACTUALLY matters. "Oh... it's sooooooo hard". W/E I hope this weeds out a buncha people. This forum is NOTHING but negative on ANY pre-release. Does NO ONE else see this pattern? Even games that are actually pretty DECENT on launch get ragged on.
And heaven forbid you try to have a conversation about a game on here...

Someone is always going to rag on a game, whether it be good or bad. All things don't suit all people, get used to it.
I've played the game on both PC and PS3. I agree with most of the OP's criticisms, except the parts about the game being hard. Once you get a good combo the PvE game becomes an endless sequence of Press MB1, hold MB1, Press MB2, repeat forever.
Most fights there's not even a need to use any of your "super" powers. I mean, you can, if you want... but they're really unnecessary outside of PvP....
i was gonna pre-order but think i will sit back and see the fall out this time and see what happens after wasting good money after bad with champions and sto.

yes I do realize there are patterns, and I was quite able to perform them. But in my IMO its a click-fest. I also am quite an avid gamer and play all sorts of games; FPS, mmorpg, stratagy, etc. and I found I was clicking more than any of the other games I play. so much that my fingers began to cramp after 20 -30 mins of play
thats fine if you want an mmo that doesnt auto attack, but this one is a poor excuse for that also.
hey if the game is a smash sucess, I will eat my words, but I see it as a flop in the making. and the fact that SOE thinks its anywhere near ready to launch just reinforces my opinion

Even as someone who plays various types of games on both PC and Xbox 360, Iv found the sheer amount of mouse clicking in DCUO's combat to be rather sore on the hand and fingers after a pretty short session as well and could see this becoming a major problem for some people.
Ok I have to reply to this. There is no skill in playing video games. Your mind adapts to the sequance of gameplay therefore you find the game easier to play and make alot more sense after a certain period of play. Its exactly like the brain training games you get, they do not train your brain what-so-ever, your brain adapts to what is happening and it becomes easier and routine to do what you are doing. Once the mind understands and adapts to the gameplay, anyone (and I mean ANYONE) can play any game exactly the same way as everyone else does.
In fact, after enough gameplay, out of routine your brain will press and do things (through the medium of you hands of course :P) without you thinking to much about what you are doing.
There is no skill in games, Only real life requires alot of thought and skill, nothing else.
The End

Why are people whining about beta-product?? I know release date is near and that there could be little bit more, as always. But like in city of whatever and champions online they added them much later on.

Because issue's in beta's become issues in final product.

The problems identified are pretty core in concept, things that are not likely to change between now and the 18days left before release, so one can assume they will be Release issues. If these are things that can be changed later on, i highly doubt most people will likely want to wait and pay for 2 years to get the things they wanted in the initial release.

Well, there arent too many "issues" arent there? The only thing people are complaining is content. And even if i do agree at some stuff (like the customization), there is enough for starters.

There are patterns to every computer game combat system. Timely, efficient use of skills and abilities in effective sequences are not new to DCUO. Yes, the exact buttons being mashed are different, but the general concepts are the same.
The "skill" claims are being overblown, as is usual with variants in gaming.
Yes, no auto-attack. Other games have dispensed with that as well. DCUO does have auto-targeting, and auto-facing - which offsets some of the supposed differences in "skill" required.
I will agree with you. The MMORPG.com boards are not generally a good place to discuss games. They are used more for people to influence others' perceptions about games.

Probably should actually understand what a word means before you make inept arguments about it.

I do not believe there has been one MMO that has come out issue free. MMO games have bugs that's why they patch after launch. Name one game that was perfect at launch.
