On every gaming site, or generally mmorpg sites with forums, people have been talking about and basically praising this game.. It is no secret, this game will sale like hotcakes on release day.. I really hope it works out too or else these forums will be pretty big QQ fests.. To sum up what I have been hearing about this game boils down to a few things:
1) Very detailed and correct world design and lore.
2) Limited visual customization.
3) Action packed combat, perfect for consoles, a little wonky with mouse control (combo clicks) on PC
Yes, misleading thread title, but if this game does not deliver to those of us who did not get into the beta (keys dissapeared within minutes on every site that gave them away), there will be a heavy dose of QQ's for everyone to enjoy..
I have pretty much decided to buy the game and give it a try.. But expect some QQ if I end up adding to my "useless P2P's turned into coasters and wall decorations" group.

I don't understand why people keep saying the visual customization is limited. People have always claimed that CoX had character customization, but when I played a long time ago, I was pretty disappointed at how limited it was. And this was years ago, when it was pretty in depth compared to the other games years ago.
I have yet to see 2 people in DCUO that look even relatively the same. There are alot of new pieces you can unlock in the game and alot of new styles. I did feel slightly limited on the initial character customization, but after I was finished with the initial look, I felt pretty happy with it. But then, I started unlocking tons of new styles and new pieces to add to my costume, I felt very happy with it.
I can either wear what I started with, I can wear a new style I found, or I can show off the gear I've obtained. And there is a ton of variation in between. If anything, DCUO has the best character customization of any game on the market. Even in the initial creation, it's really not as bad as people make it seem. I felt like I had more options than CoX, at least.
You are right about one thing. This game have great first immpression and some broblems will raise later. But so fare its different things than you mentioned.
1) I dont know how detailed it is, I am just fan of movies not DC comics, but so far feel and lore seems to be ok for me.
2) There is very limited customization of character itself, but you wont see it that often. On the other hand, costume customization isnt that bad. You can paint every part of costume, change it on the go and you collect new parts all the time. And stats dont affect your costume.
3) I played DCUO only on PC and there is no issue with combat. Its great even on PC and I am very critical to console controls or ports.
There are problems I see with DCUO right now:
1) No group mechanics AT ALL. You cant play with friends. You cant communicate woth them, there is no content for groups, you cant share quests and so on...
2) Really bad UI for PC. Its part of a problem above, but chat is useless and rest of UI very limited.
3) No content. While quests and missions are great, there isnt enough content to keep you busy more than 1 month. You end up grindig PvP armors in queues. This tyme of gameplay you can get for free in Global Agenda.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it here, visual customization is limited compared to CoX and Champions, but it's still far more robust than most games, MMO or otherwise. You can't use sliders to tweak your face or body type, and you're stuck with three colors, but there are tons of options to choose from.
Yes, there will be a lot of vocal disappointment next month. Some people won't like the combat (it's unique, so it's gonna rub some people wrong); or they'll be disappointed that certain power sets aren't available (there really should be more, but most people don't ever mention travel power attacks and "iconic" powers, both of which give you a huge amount of customization); or the game world is too small (alas, it is).
The real problem is that people decide they're a "fan" of something months before they even try it. If you already think you're a fan of DCUO, and the game turns out different than you expected, oh well, I for one am not going to pay any attention to your nerd rage. Whatever you think of DCUO, this isn't Star Trek Online, where watching the nerd rage was the most fun thing about the game.
They have said that from 20-30 there are raids and other alerts for only those levels. There is also rumored (I will say rumored for now) that they are going to have new issues or missions that come out every month like comic books.

Seriously dude, go fire up a trial of CO and then do the same thing in DCU. It's not even close.
"TO MICHAEL!"
You do realize combat controls and the UI are two separate things, right?

Certainly.
I find it odd that the chat is farked, but the combat is okay.
You do realize what you think a picture suggests, isn't what it really means, right?

While I am sure this game will sell to DC Comics fans and a few others, I have to say that some of the animations I have seen were so hilarious that I actually feel pity for the game. For instance the "Run" animation has this awkward hopping gait to it that reminds me of playing Super Mario Brothers from back in the 1980's. The "Wall Crawling" animation isn't any better and some of the attack animations looks like a stroke victem trying to do the "Swim" dance routine from way back in the 1950's. Add to that a REALLY lame "Hero Creation Story" and I have come to the determination that this game is not for me. For anyone that does like it though, I wish you great joy in it's playing.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Ok so it is given you haven't even been in beta to really comment on how the game looks. It is great you can use your search engine and find videos on the web, but until you actually see it on your system or a PS3 it is hard to make a fair assessment of the graphics and feel of the game.
So what should a "Hero Creation Story" be like? I mean you do realize this is a game based off a comic book franchise right?

The game runs buttery smooth on my system and looks great. I love how my character looks right now, but I did feel a little restricted in terms of character creation, especially with faces and hair styles.
So far I've seen a few little groups here and there. Seems like most people, including myself are running around solo. Not much going on in the social dept, but then I'm busy trying out different things and I'm sure others are doing the same.
I'm not a big comic book hero fan. Initially I was like, ow...there is a lot of clicking. Then I started learning some combos and it was bearable. Then I was like, hey this is pretty fun. Then I gained some levels and I am starting to think I like the game but I'm 50/50 on buying it.
....I really just want to play TOR.
Every player character in DCUO is an average joe that was at the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time, which is basically a power stealer from another hero. No wonder SOE didn't bother with the bio space. The game has a lot of qualities but the RPG part is a bit weak.
People who enjoy the game will be playing the game including almost everyone I know from beta. The only people that will read the QQ is the QQ'ers as they have a big circle QQ fest. It is unfortunate for people who look for info on the game that all there is in most forums is haters, but that is how it is for EVERY MMO launch. If they don't know that then they will learn fast enough.
As I have said before, the problem I see is that for the game to use an "experimental" combat system, people who did not get into beta only have videos, screenshots and forum reviews to go off of.. It sounds like one of those things you have to experience and sorta get used to.. They need to have like an open session for 1 or 2 days before release.. Sort of like a stress test but also to give everyone an opportunity to see if they would like the game or not..
That would definitely help folks like me who are on the fence and do not want to spend money to find out that I do not like it..
I realize you don't know when to quit.
