Some of you need to learn to read.  He didnt ask what you like about the game but what's unique/new....as in what is different about Rift compared to other MMO's.  The answer is simple...Rifts and thats it. Everything in Rift is found in other games and even Rifts are stolen from WAR's PQ system but done better.  Lets face it, once you have seen your 50th Rift it gets repetitive and boring and the rest of the game is just copy/paste from what is out there.

Well Rift's class system is at least somewhat Unique.  So I guess you haven't really played Rift for yourself have you?  You just want to be negative.  Are you pissed that You never got a beta invite?  Or did you get ganked by a higher level player?  Come on Now!  Tell us how you really feel about Rift...

New: Rift takes questing to a whole new level of linearity and hand-holding.

Unique: The rifts are a bit different than PQs...it has...no I give up.

They have tried to be unique. I can't deny that, but the uniqueness is rather short-lived. The Rifts don't really punish or deter and the class system isn't really as unique as it would like to be. It all really merges into a solo and very linear grind.

That was the only thing i really liked about what i saw in the game. Other than the graphics which are beautiful, the gameplay is good and familiar but in my case its far too familiar thats why i wont be playing it.

I'm curious if people really think that devs/GMs will be hanging about servers triggering events...

If they care as much about the release as they do about their beta im sure theyll find the time to trigger events, i mean it is the whole premise of the game.

I think you need to do more reading, infact, many of you do. If you did not reach high level and participate in the Event system, you are missing out on what Rift is really about. It's a standard MMO skeleton, built to provide dynamic content on a massive scale not usually seen.

The system is built to trigger events on it's own, through hooks, etc, they do not NEED devs to do it, although they can. That is built into the system as well. The dynamic event system can be used for other things besides just rifts.

Not saying people should like it, but most of these posts are highly uninformed on what has been supplied on the net since the company(Trion) first formed.

It's been said in several interviews and posted on the RIFT forums, but I'll repeat it here for those who aren't aware of it:

The events that have been happening during the beta DO NOT require a GM / dev to trigger them.

The event at the end of beta 2 where they unveield the dynamic zone-wide invasion that had nearly 600 people fighting can and will occur on servers WITH OR WITHOUT GM intervention.

That was the bombshell that TRION dropped on us about their dynamic events that so many people in the industry (and gamers as well) completely missed.

Did GMs begin the events that happened at the end of beta 2 and 3? Yes, they did. They triggered them so they could be there to watch / report findings / test stability / etc during a "controlled" (i.e. triggered) event. Will those events happen w/o GM intervention when the game goes live? According to TRION, they absolutely will.

any i'll tell you what, those where some serious invasions....  It wasn't just kill the 300mobs here at point X.  Their were patrols that set up camps along major highways, then had patrol points/routes, they had waves of stuff spawning.   I really felt like this was an important thing.

Picture your running down the road minding your own business.  Horns and trumpets blare, the sky goes dark you can't see more then about 100ft in front of you, "text appears to let you IT"S ON zone wide!".   It was awesome.

Hah yeah, that was something.  I was with a group when the words "It's time to get real" came up on screen.  We were all, "uh.. uh oh". ;D

I had my visuals set to "ultra" and things got real interesting. Sky goes dark, swirls of green energy (plane of life) began going up to the sky, music changed, and that was before getting near the rifts.  The rifts had the usual bolts of lightening that came down and their other effects.  It was pretty obvious that the event was going to be no walk in the park.

Unfortunately the hundreds of players and tons of mobs on the screen at the same time eventually forced me to set my visuals to "medium" and I lost a lot of the really nice effects.  It's the first time in a long time that I've considered upgrades for my PC, though I doubt that I'll go that far. :D  DxDiag here if anyone's curious.

The raid event was much more interesting than "go kill boss, end raid".  There were sub-goals. You had to defeat one type of mini boss before you could begin to take out a larger boss, and you had to close the rifts to weaken something else.  I forget what closing the rifts did because there was just too much chaos going on and I was focused on the mobs.

...and yeah, there were tons of mobs.  We had wave after wave come at our raid group, which prevented us from reaching the boss mob for a bit.

My only regret was that I wasn't playing a class that I found to be more interesting, but that's all part of the experimentation.

Two words..Tabula Rasa, though it didn't help endgame, it fixed and added a lot of stuff. And Rift is taking lessons from that and will add content at ALL levels

I beg to differ... The "release patch" for TR hardly fixed much that I could remember.  And  when not much got fixed, and none of the end game content they promised appeared, the player population dwindled then the game slowly died.

Still I might try Rift.  I mean It has to be better than some of the stuff I tried last year!    And since Earthrise seems to be headed for the crapper, I can't think of anything else that even interests me (until later in the year).  Besides, If I get Rift it will make the wait for TOR much easier.

Then again, maybe I should just preorder DA2 and save myself the cost of subscription...  =(  Its really hard for me to trust developers now days.

Do you remember Final Fantasy XIV? During Beta people were talking about the "One Patch to Satisfy Them All". Never happened, we can only wait to see if Trion has actually prepared such a legendary patch.
