*** that's not all of them by any means, but those are all shooters that have just as much fun value that are 10 years or more older than Black Ops. Only difference is polygon count and sound.
Haha see those games where fun back then, but if you go back and play them thier ****. Games don't age well especially shooters. I suppose fun is subjective so they still could be fun to you. And saying " Only difference is polygon count and sound" is a lie. The overall gameplay in general has envolved a great deal and we have custimization, leveling, matchmaking, great campain, multiplayer, zombie modes, theater watcher etc.
But thats enough off topic banter between us....back to Earthrise.
Too many new and good ideas on this one, im buying for sure.
Expecting it to be buggy etc at start.. but, so was eve when launched and look to what eve became after. Important is the idea behind the game and the direction its development will follow.

Rome wasnt build in a day
Wow also had serious bug issues at start... The one I remember most is the lootbug/lag^^ When you run around in lootstance after looting something, looked pretty weird to hit creatures like that:D
I remember SWG at release was buggy as hell, only half the stuff was in game, no armour, mounts and crashed alot.....but ended up being the best 2 years gameing of my life.
Sod it im gonna try Earth Rise and hope for history to repeat itself.....minus the soe fuck up that was cu, nge.
Just want to say I find it very interesting how this game releases in-game footage that looks like crap, but because of the idea and development direction behind it, the feedback is still productive and for the most part, positive.
Look how many of us just in this thread alone are willing to take a leap of faith for this title...
Then you have SWTOR and it's similarly unimpressive footage, but I somehow feel like discouraged about Earthrise than I do SWTOR -
Perhaps because I feel Earthrise is genuine and trying to innovate, whist Bioware is trying to make another quick buck.

Comparing Earthrise to SWG is an insult to a fantastic game, Pre-CU that is. Even in it's current BETA state.
Isn't there already a game on the market like this one? I honestly don't know. Fallen Earth or Earthrise or whatever the hell they are. I dig the whole futuristic/post-apocalypse spin... I do. But... I digress.
I hope it's a good, solid game.
I hope it doesnt' feel like a clone of whatever that other game is that launched a year or so ago (that I bought, played for about 2-3 days and never played again).

Both are post-apocalyptic but beyond that they part ways.
Fallen Earth is post-apoc like Mad Max or Book of Eli. Earthrise (note that their names are about opposite haha) is more like Minority Report.*
In sum, in Fallen Earth you are fighting with sticks, stones, and when you get higher level early 1900s technology. In Earthrise, lasers.
*not that I am a fan of the movie.

Looks interesting is free for all PvP and looting ? Just curious I am not very brave to play FFA and open looting.
It does have FFA PvP but it doesn't sound like it will be a lawless gank fest. Its a bit like Eve with different areas where thiers is different levels of security. You can also purchase insurance for very important items.

Comparing this to Fallen Earth is a bit off. Their only real similarity is their post apocalypti but as someone already stated they went different routes with the setting (one Sci Fi the other Mad Max). Also Fallen Earth is a pretty linear PvE game while Earthrise is more of a sandbox FFA PvP game.

Read the bloody words ...think your find no one compairing swg to earthrise apart from the fact both were very much flawed at release and worked out pretty good.

Why even mention SWG's beta stage then if you wasn't comparing it to how Earthrise MIGHT pan out?
Both worked out pretty good? Earthrise hasn't even released yet, and will never be as successful as SWG, it'll even struggle to compare with the sham that was Dark & Light.
Just pre-ordered. Funny that the mmo market is so dry right now that I am willing to spend 60 bux on a game that only has two videos, one cinema, and not much else. If they actually deliver on half of the stuff they are promising, I will have a blast.
East Carolina University, Computer Science BS, 2011 -------------------- Current game: DAOC
Games played and quit: L2, PlanetSide, RF Online, GuildWars, SWG, COH/COV, Vanguard, LOTRO, WoW, WW2 Online, FFXI, Auto-Assault, EVE Online, ShadowBane, RYL, Rappelz, Last Chaos, Myst Online, POTBS, EQ2, Warhammer Online, AoC, Aion, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Allods, Darkfall.
Could I ask where you pre-ordered ER from please? If you could provide a link too that would be awesome! I only hope MHS is as competent as Icarus, with FE, as they release patches very frequently and if you had to list the last three indie games by order of competency, completeness, ect they would rank (IMO)
1 - Fallen Earth
2 - Darkfall
3 - Mortal Online
So I hope ER comes in over FE, but I would be happy if it were second, slotting between darkfall and Fallen Earth. (I am sure it wont be the train wreck that is MO).
Ok, just some more questions, did they charge you the full amount on your CC when you ordered or will they charge it when the game actually ships?
Also, I am wondering if I should hold off to see if they give us a grace period, as I am in AUS, it might take 2 weeks to get to me, all the while the game has launched and I cant play becuase I have no CD key to enter on my account!
Food for thought, but thankyou for the link, I really appreciate it!

If you live all the way in AUS i'd wait for the digital download if you want to play on release, unless you want a boxed version.

same! sandbox is so rare, buying!
Just remember , this is going to take some patience.. Launch is not going to be pretty, but I think in the long run we will look back and remember all the silly stuff we had to endure. There wont be another sandbox game for a long time, and I for one will stick it out as long as it takes... lol. within reason..

Personally, unless you're a collector of boxes, I would suggest getting the digital distribution order; it's been stated that the digital distro versions will come with unique (and perma insured) items, but hasn't stated which items as of yet.
The boxed version seems to only come with a map and a poster, or something.
The boxed version will feature exclusive limited edition bonus poster and map with purchase. Earthrise will also be available February 4th for digital download at www.play-earthrise.com and select distribution partners. The digital version will also offer exclusive items to players. Depending on the place of purchase, players will receive different types of player bound starting armor, containing permanent insurance.
dont go to rift, the simple fact that you are considering ER(sandbox) and rift(wowkoid theme parky you cant use these things bound to you indestructible gear bind on pick up items no economy no virtual world clone) I would suggest choose ER

Fallen Earth was my last leap of faith.
Now... I'm left to choose between RIFT and Earthrise.
I'm going Earthrise, even though I don't have much info on this game. I'm just SO burned out with the themepark mmos...
Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...
dont go to rift, the simple fact that you are considering ER(sandbox) and rift(wowkoid theme parky you cant use these things bound to you indestructible gear bind on pick up items no economy no virtual world clone) I would suggest choose ER
Avoid Rift it is a major snoozefest themepark, looks nice is polished but offers nothing new, 2 months in you will probably be bored senseless
. . .and speaking of Buying, the ER Main page is updated with pricing / Earthrise Store opening announcement.
