Yeah. It's a good game. Not much different then another one out there besides the rift events tho. But I enjoyed it during beta and will be there when it's live. Warhammer wow all in one. Just hope the wow diehards stay in wow. Don't want to hear how much better wow is rift chat.

You can have fun choosing your call and souls and skills and whatnot.

We don't really know what the endgame (as in over the 30s levels) so the game can keep you busy atleast a month if you like standard gameplay MMORPG, good graphics and to have choices in character personnalization.

Can't say if it will keep you interested after a while.

Since you re asking, I say no you didn t. Its an average experience, and needs another 6 months to a year, to be worth while. What new released game nowadays doesn t though.

I would of waited till after release reviews and opinions, but if you can spare the dollars and have total faith in former WAR developers (WAR failed after everyones free month) then that's fine, hopefully you can squeeze more then 2 weeks out of it.

lolzor.....one developer from WAR aint going to ruin a game now will he?

Trion is a totaly different firm from Mythic.....just because they hired an ex-WAR dev is going to make this game fail to you?

    again....lolzor

You'll get mixed opinions, which is good. When looking at the previous and current landscape, knowing that every mmo is an amalgamation of prior ones, I've been more comfortable with Rift after being involved in the early beta events.  Trion seems to be one of the most serious studios (in addition to ArenaNet and Bioware) when it comes to offering a bit better breadth and depth of pvevp game-play, and mechanics that not only build upon what came before it, but offering much of what I liked in a variety of previous titles, that wasn't available in one, and actually combining it into one title with an advanced platform.

Personally, I'll be on a PvP server to boot, since I think that their mechanics will offer even a bit more breadth and depth to organic massively-multiplayer game-play than other titles before it.

^ This except I didn't make it past 15 minutes into beta 2.

Did you do the right thing? It depends on what you think is fun. If you don't expect it to be a WoW-killer or anything great then you might be ok.

I played the beta but got bored extremely quick.  I can't say if it was worth it to preorder, but for me it was definitely not.  The whole time it felt like "been there, done that."

Like one of the previous posters said, "Been there done that". The whole Rift system is a good selling point but the time I spent in the first beta wasn't exactly the type of game I originally thought it was. Feels like a clunky re-skin of WAR but with an event system that will at least keep players involved. I play WoW but am also looking for something that I can really get into, but sadly, Rift isn't that game just as the others before it (WAR, Aion, etc.).

Since you preordered and didn't wait until after release I hope you feel like you got your moneys worth. :)

Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Listening and taking to heart the opinions and reviews on mmo's these days is a waste of time.. They have been, in the past, very misleading biased and sometimes very incorrect in the information they indulge.. Although I truly HATE having to buy a game before trying it, with P2P games if you don't get into any beta this is what you have to do to make sure YOU (not anyone else) don't or do like it..

Don't believe the hate and don't believe the hype.. Believe yourself.. Unfortunately if you end up disliking the game you have already spent your money on it.. Theres plenty of more beta to come so hopefully you can get into one and find out if you are going to go through with it or not..

No need to bookmark him, you are still off. From what I´ve read, there are devs from Ex-EQ2. Ex-this and Ex-that in Trion. To give the fault to a single dev if this game fails would be silly IMO. Perhaps this Mythic-guy also built DAoC - and the next game that is closest to DAoC´s PvP setting on paper is Guild Wars 2.

As long as you do your research and aren't buying the game based off false hype, you should be happy with your decision.

When I first heard about Rift, a lot of my EQ1 and VG friends were claiming that Rift would be the EQ successor that VG should have been. I got really excited about it at first because there wasn't much info to counter their claims. As time went on and more info came out from Trion, I started doubting the rumors. Once I got my hands on the game I lost all hope.

It is an extremely polished game though so if you want something similar to EQ2 with a PQ system like WAR then Rift will be a great choice. IMO there are already too many casual friendly solo quest grinding games on the market and adding one more will just further fragment the player base.

Pre-ordering automatically allows you access to the Beta from what I understand.

If that is so, then you can get in the beta and judge whether you did the "right thing" or not based on how you like the game.

If you feel you did after trying it out, do nothing and just wait til launch (or post how much you liked it).

If you feel you didn't do the "right thing", cancel your pre-order, uninstall and come back and post (why you didn't like it).

Asking others if you're gonna like the game or did you do the right thing is weird, because unless they know what you like.. they can't decide that for you.

    Try the beta.

If you enjoy WOW then you will probably prefer WOW to Rift.

If you dont enjoy WOW then you probably wont enjoy Rift.

Well I'm going to say "no".

Reason being is that I can understand someone preordering a game based on so little info.

If you are asking whether it's a good game, I would say "yes" though it does do a lot of "same old same old" when it comes to quests and the like. I think one might have fun with it as long as one doesn't have extremely high expectations.

Hopefully, the info you have seen gave you an accurate represetation of the game.

Otherwise, my adivce to to do thorough research before preordering any game.

Hey now.. There's no room for common sense and/or logic on these forums.

Seriously though, I agree.  That's the most logical course of action at this point.

    The right thing? probably not.

Played all/most of the beta's and after a short time ingame i got bored extremely quickly, which doesnt bode well for release for me, gonna wait on this one and see what happens/where it goes after release.

I'll say that you did. I've been in the betas and I loved it. I will be getting it for sure!

Yes, it's true that it's a mash up of other titles before it, let's not forget that WoW was also. At this point, there's nothing new under the sun. What matters is the way in which it's mashed up.

The main point of a game is if you the consumer have fun. That's the true point of any video game. It shouldn't matter if it has the highest subscription base either.

If there's millions or thousands it shouldn't effect personal opinion. Fun should be the bottom line. Don't let the evangelist of other titles effect your personal opinion. Form it for yourself. And above all, have fun.

I liked it and disliked it at the same time. Where do you go from there lol?
