Seriously, name ONE game that they dropped the ball on? Neverwinter Nights was Great, Baldurs Gate was great, hell they even made a Sonic game great (GASP!!)
Playing Galaxies was always so boring. Legacy quest anyone? I run over to this NPC, talk to him, he says go to this place and kill 10 of these guys. I go do that and I run all the way back to that NPC. He says good job. Now do it to the other 10 guys standing near them. Ok. Now go see this guy. And it's basically that over and over. It was, kind of fun. Exploring and community stuff was more fun than that. But as I see it, this game will have community and a story that's actually interesting if BW's other games are any indication.
No, no player cities. But you can craft in an interesting fashion. Your friends can be a part of your quests and interactions with NPCs. Every person you group with is going to get a roll to make a choice and you'll be wondering what the hell chocie they will make and you'll get a fun kind of satisfaction when you get to choose to KILL this guy instead of letting him live.
Does it really have to be the next best MMO ever? It can be what it is and still be good. It's doing things no other MMO has ever done. It's not going to be for everybody. I'm sure you can skip all the VO if you don't like it and just play it like a regular MMO. The story is supposed to immerse you further into the questline so it's not a strung along line of nothingness like Legacy quest in SWG was.
What hype? The only hype I see is for a different game we know next to nothing about.
Funny how hours of unedited gameplay footage, not to mention developer panels plus interviews and blog entries constitutes 'next to nothing'.
Yes and still less then other games. People have based their "fact based opinion" behind such little information.
I will most likely play GW2, but the hype behind it yet knowing so little blows away any sort of hype behind TOR currently on this site.
No doubt there, but the hype is for a good reason.
Arenanet has proven themselves in the mmo market with a game that millions of people played. It would be like Blizzard making a WoW 2, people are going to get excited.
Again though we have had a lot of information regarding GW2, if you haven't seen it yet I would check out this panel discussion with the developers:
Also Arenanet tend to never talk about something unless it is up and working. These guys don't exaggerate their games features like some other devs we know.
This is a bit of an exagerration I think I've played GW1 and don't see that the amount of people playing that game comes close to the hype surrounding GW2. It does though sound like a pretty good game the hype though is reaching unattainable proportions.
They've sold 6 million copies of GW1... I'm sure that has SOMETHING to do with it.
My sentiments exactly.
No doubt, they sold around 1.5 million copies of all 4 games combined (averaged of course, I'm sure the highest sold was the original GW and not the 3 xpacs).
Not bad at all for a game 6? years old now.
Now I LOVED GW1. I played in those beta weekends so many years ago and fell in love. I love how I can kick it up, update quick since I don't have to download ALL the updates for EVERYTHING at once, and play. But I can't get as excited for GW2 knowing so little. Knowing about SWTOR I am very excited.

To be brutally honest, NWN Official campaign was bad. Like really really bad and it only got better with the 2nd exp HOTU.
The toolset was awesome though and the modules/persistant world (MMO style) is still going stong after 7+ years.
On topic: this is a star wars game from bioware. Like KOTOR. KOTOR!!!

I totally agree, Dragonage, Kotor, Mass Effect! What more proof do you need that this game will be awesome?

I only need to use 1 word for this: Bioware.

I'm a huge SW fan and a huge BW fan.
