Dragon Age 2 looks worse in every possible way compared to Dragon Age Origins, What is Bioware think

After seeing this video on youtube, I immediately canceled any idea in my head of buying this game. The video shows actual gameplay from Dragon Age II. Where do I start? The grahpics on the character creation screen look worse the Dragon Age Origins, less detail and worse character models. The next scene shows the UI, Party frames and the party and a few enemies. The Party frames looks terrible, just a HP bar and a Tiny Portrait avatar that looks so poor compared to the first games avatars.

The character and weapons models as well as the textures and landscape / area all look terrible and are a step backwards from Dragon Age Origins. The models looks like Neverwinter nights 1 models, seriously how did the detail and textures go backwards from the first game? The spells look worse then the first game as well, In the video you see a rogue do a stupid barrel roll jump for no reason and then stick one sword into the enemy, the animations look retarded. I'm so angry just from this 2 minutes of gameplay footage, it's really saddened me the game has gone backwards and made no improvements whatsoever.

Oh and their already advertising paid DLC, and the game ISNT EVEN OUT YET? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAMkzz0hKww

This is a real flop from Bioware, the game looks awful.

    Nice use of hyberbole there.

The only objection I have to DA2 is that it is like Mass Effect in that you just play their character. Otherwise I don't see anything worse in the gameplay than in the first one.

    Do a barrel roll!

I remember them saying that they are giving what their audience wants (hinting that consoles sold better than the pc). I will of course play DA2 but I'm anticipating a bit more Witcher 2. Then we got Mass Effect 3 and Tes V at the second half.

Game looks fantastic to me, if you're not going to buy it that's fine an' all but who really cares?  If the game is changing from the direction that -you- think the series should be taken in I guess that's a shame.  However, it's their game and their world that they've created.  I think they have a much better sense as to which direction they should be taking their own franchise in comparison to a fan.  Also, DLC and advertising DLC for a game before it's release isn't really a new thing.  Dragon Age: Origins had NINE different DLC packs to come out for it, so, erm...  Not really seeing the point of even bringing this up.  It should be expected by now.  Nobody is forcing you to buy the DLC.  It's an optional quest, or character, or storyline that isn't required to enjoy the main game.

I like to complain about games.

You do know that showing the combat style while having preliminary graphics before they put in lighting, high-rez textures, shadows, saturation, contrast and other effects is common place with games this early in development right? Way to prove once again that gamers these days are so impatient that they will even bash a alpha stage blog entry video for combat footage ,who's only purpose is to keep DA fans in the loop,  just to satisfy their urges to troll anything.

"The game mainly sold on console, so we’re going that way of the audience,” explained Laidlaw, adding that BioWare will be focusing on the more console-centric third person view for budgetary reasons.

Although praise is good, it matters little, gaming is business first and foremost.

Yes, the game looks ugly based on the one video, from the one area, for the 20 seconds that we have been shown. DRAW FINAL CONCLUSIONS ASAP!!!!!!!

I can't, really, I can not believe that you think the game is going to look like that, really, I don't think you are THAT stupid, please, take a deep breath, check the video again, there is OBVIOUSLY a lot missing, and that was pure WORK IN PROGRESS material...

Please, next time, use your intelligence, if any, or try harder.

    BioWare = Fail!

They are doing the same thing as Mass Effect 2. Giving the fans of the original a big middle finger, changing the mechanics and gameplay while completely exploiting the player through design elements which result in RMT business.

Make no mistake, EA has rotted BioWare to the core. At this pace, BioWare wont last long.

What the fuck...they are already selling DLC's?

uh I dont know, what about if you put the fucking DLC in the game already Bioware?

Because  you know, THE BLOODY GAME ISNT EVEN OUT YET!

fucking money whores, taking out content to profit more tsk

I never thought bioware would do that

Honestly i was never impressed with DA:O's graphics are characters.. Lets face it, they were never that great to begin with.. And i've played through on both console + P/C.

Only thing i'am disapointed with on DA2 is the fact that you lose out on a orgin story... Really the orgin stories for me were the main reason i played through the game multiple times.. And being a dwarve is just epic.

    Where have you been?

I mean compared ME1's DLC's to ME2.. And the worse thing is most of ME2's DLCs are for weapons and gear.. I mean, thats stuff that couldve/shouldve been implemented into the original game.. I still purchased a lot of DLC for ME2, but none of the weapon packs.

dumbed down so called "action gameplay", DLC again right from the get go (used to be called PATCH and for zero $), cartoony graphics and not much depth what does that tell you?

*hint* Bioware under EA label :-)

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

Again, I feel this is EA 100%.  EA wanted more income, so they bought Bioware.  We all know what EA does with companies, does this surprise you they are dumbing games down so they can be console only.  Granted Bioware released KOTOR and ME1 both on console before PC anyways, but I just feel Bioware/EA aren't worth my money anymore.  All the goodies have been made by them, and the rest will be not enjoyable to a classic RPG lover anymore and are more intune with the "instant gratification crowd" Seriously what happened to beating games on the hardest setting and with a different choice, or solo play in team games(Think solo challenge for BG2)  Nope its all about stupid achievements.

Lots of debate raged on as ME2 was considered 'not an RPG' as it had no 'inventory management'/stats management.

It never occured to me that inventory/stats were what made a game an RPG. /sarcasm.

Lots of subjective things are considered better for ME1/2 (story, char, voice acting etc) but you can't deny the gameplay (esp the shooting mechanics) greatly improved in ME2.

DA2 seems fine and yes I have it on pre-order. :)

Gameplay looked a lot better to me then DA:O.   Seemed like it was a little faster paced, at least in the video shown.

I'm not that interested in the DA series, eventhough I did go through Origins,  Mass Effect was more my thing.  I'll eventually give DA2 a try, and in no way did the video dissuade me.

There was a time I thought Bioware could do no wrong. Since the merger, I have seen the quality of their games, and my level of enjoyment from them, drop dramatically, and it makes me sad.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

After the merger they've released ME2, (ME1 was one month after the merger so EA probably didn't do anything, heck EA didn't even publish it) Dragon Age and a generally positively received Sonic game on the DS.

Not a whole lot of  'drop in quality' IMO.

Unless of course you didn't like DA? o_O

Seriously? You think that's PRE ALPHA footage? Bioware is already advertising paid DLC that will be available on launch day for an extra 20 bucks. WHY can't that be sold WITH the game? If they are already dividing the game up for DLC, that shows the graphics are already in their final form, or that they're trying to rob people. Both are bad. You fanboys, seriously.

I am extremely pumped after watching that video. I loved Dragon Age Origions and this looks INCREDIBLE to me. The combat looks like it will be even more fun then that last game.
