Grouping with other mentors?

I was lucky enough to play in the beta but my friends were not so I didn't get a chance to test out, how easy it was to group with other people who start with different mentors? for example, My wife is going wonderful woman, my brother superman, and I'm batman.. Will it still be easy for us to quest together? If anyone has the answer to this it would be greatly appreciated.

Its not easy at all, you cant get quest from other mentors (until they are opened to you by themself). You can play with your friend, but you only get XP from killing (very low XP), so your friend will be high level much faster.

Another problem is chat, its difficult to read party chat and as there are no sending chanells you will have problems with sending msgs to right channel.

Grouping is very problematic and GUI is trash made for PS3. Worst part of GUI is chat that is useless. But grouping mechanics as whole are really bad too...

Not sure if this will change by release but the former poster is correct as to not being able to share missions. Which I think if you just rotate whose mission you're doing you will be fine. I would highly recommend doing the first boss encounters for each mentor as its the only way to get those feats. The feat system is like achievements but its a point system everytime you get 00 points you get a new skill point to use for your character. As an example in the limited beta I've played which had a level 20 cap if you run through the game not trying to get feats you have something around 15 skill points for my character where I started doing feats after reaching level cap I was up to about 25 skill points. Skill points are used for your movement power tree and your fighting style tree.

While there isn't a way to "share" missions,  there are missions that you will have from other mentors as well, and you will encounter these roughly after your first mentor mission. From then on, when you both go through the open world and instanced missions for those mentors whether they are theirs or yours, you will both get credit for the kills and completing the boss.

Also,  going through their missions that you do NOT have access to,  (for example your mentor is wonder woman, theirs is batman, therefore you will be fighting circe and they will be fighting joker)  if they take you on their joker mission, you get feats and headlines for that which will accumulate into a new skill point,  so its never useless or boring for them to help you through those missions.

Also,  you get different drops and costume items which again will go towards your feats.

Thats really just a preliminary overview of grouping for quests,  but not really touching much on grouping.  While the chat isn't nearly as clear as it should be,  you do have the capabilities of talking in group chat, or league chat, or say (local) chat  or shout etc.   If you don't want to bother specifying which one to talk in every time, you can always use the VoIP system built in.  Seems to work very well for groups,  then just set /shout as default.  Should make things much easier.

    Hope that helps.

Also, I think somewhere in the teens you do get access to missions from other mentors.  At least I recall around 12 being able to take some of the same missions or quests from mentors in other areas.

Now, trying to alternate missions will be an extremem pain as the missions are generally located in various places around the game map.  At the higher levels 15+ you will find these are nowhere close to each other and yo would be spending a lot of time travelling back and forth.

I think once you get through the basic first 5-10 levles there are a number of shared mission arcs you can follow.  However, the rewards and drops will be related to that mentor.  So you may get useless stuff for doing them, xp and stuff will be good tho.

The only other issue are the misions are basically arcs.  So you will be re-playing mission arcs to get people caught up with you so the team can be on the same page with the missions.  That seams to be becoming the norm nowadays with MMO's anyway so not much of a QQ on this one only.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

I don't know what this poster is on, but this is flatly wrong.  Each mentor has ONE unique starting mission that other mentors do not give, and so you cannot share that outside of the associated feats/renown that you'll get for completing it (which everyone will WANT regardless) and past that point you can share almost all missions.  Granted you "share" them by all acquiring the same mission and then doing it, but apart from people who simply can't break out of their expectations for a WoWesque interface or similar, I don't see why that's a problem.

You'll play the first hour or two solo, while you work up to the point of other mentors opening up to you.  This is hardly unreasonable.  Think of these as newbie quests or an extended tutorial.  At that point, while things could certainly be clearer, you can easily share missions and goals with anyone on your side (hero or villain).

Note, also, that the xp issue is a very very minor concern in a game where max level comes easily.  It's far more about collectng feats, renown, and similar.  It amazes me when people just walk into the world and complain about how grinding random things they find there doesn't yield great xp.  It really makes me think the MMO standard has damaged some players beyond repair, that they can't think even that far outside the box.
