Why should i get EQ2?

Well ive been playing WoW i love it., But I came from eq which i liked. My sister's fieance has the game and loves it but my friend got it and said it sucks. im thinking about playing the game so i want to hear from the ppl who play to tell me Why i should get it.

I plaed EQII for a couple of months of beta and a month after release then dropped it for WoW. Now I am thinking of dropping WoW and going back to EQII after two weeks in WoW so each to their own, it's only 50 bucks to see for yourself.

Im loving it, best game ive played so far. THe more I play it seems the more I like it. I think you should try it, the first month is free.

Umm why don't you go over to your friends house or your sister's fiance's and ask if you can play for an hour? I mean he is your friend right? =P Or if he isn't using the CDs anymore ask if you can have it or buy it cheap.

Its fun if you don't mind the grinding. I personally enjoy the combat, graphics, and story but I also disliked WoW and only played it for a week [lvl 23] so you probably make have my tastes in mmos. You may want to check your system specs first.

I disliked wow and eq2.  They are both grinds. One is just a solo grind.

*sighs* omg im really tired of seeing these posts, they just lead to wow vs eq2 flame wars.  If you know what each game offers go for the one that offers you what you want or play both and just cancel your subscription if you dislike another.  Or hell just read the actual game forums. 

But here's a short and NOT comprehensive in anyway reason to play or not to play.

If you want PVP dont play this game.  Its not even in the works period no matter what a pvp playing dreamer says.

If you dont wanna group atleast half the time Dont play this game

If you don't wanna be part of a community as in buying and selling to players, or crafting dont play

If you want to lvl fast dont play this game

 

If you want alot of content everywhere, hidden in loot hidden on npc's play this game

If you like to group play the game

If you wanna be part of a guild play the game

If you want a con system that keeps high lvl players from camping low lvl mobs play this game

If you want a different graphical setting play this game

If you want a game that's login servers always work play this game

If you want a game that doesnt' use that horrible bit torrent patcher play this game

If you want costumer service on the boards that keeps you updated on why there was a massive shut down in the game.  And even attempts to update you atleast once every hour or two hours play this game.

If you want a game thats trying to fix bugs before putting in new content.  Play this game.

  I play both games.  I play one cause i can solo alot and the other because I just love the world of everquest as a whole and I really hate PvP.   Neither game has anything completely over another.  They'r eboth great, they offer something different to keep you from being board or stuck in a rut.  They have large worlds, although I hear WoW's is bigger (hasn't travelled to far away yet).

Im not going to try and force your hand by going play this game because.  I mean your an adult, I think you can make your own assumptions by playing the game.  No matter what anyone here including myself tells you will really show you what the game has to offer, but I can tell you this its completely DIFFERENT from Wow.  I mean..drastically different.

well, u have to register the CD Key that u get with each box. so u cant use it more than once. he would still have to buy his own, which sucks but...

EQ2 is the best mmo out right now if u liked EQ1. if u are more a fan of pvp then Shadowbane or WoW would make a better choice. since i dont care at all about pvp. EQ2 is a stellar game in all aspects.

If you're already playing a game that you love, why start a second game? EQ2 is a pretty big time sink and you're not going to be able to play both games in my opinion. I can understand it if you wanna do it to play with your sisters fiance or whatever, but if it's for anything other than that, I would just stay with WoW if I were you. I have dumped a ton of time into my 2 characters and they're both only low 20's.

Eq2 isn't like Eq1 at all, i find it ALOT better, but it is the kind of game in which it will hold your attention for a long time, and there will be expansions before that long time is up, thus holding your attention for alot longer   Its a fun game, and like EQ1, you have to work for your character to get good.  Noted, its much more tuned so casual gamers, if they play right, can get up to higher levels too, it just may take them a bit longer

You obviously dont know what the term "Casual Player" means.  A casual player is a person who only wants to go onto a game for maybe 10-30 minutes every so often.  They want to be unattached.  The typical casual player are women in their 30's and people between the ages of 8 - 14.  The sheer concept of Everquest is lax to the casual player.  The real casual player game is The Sims Online due to the appealing factor it has to that demi-graph.

It really boils down on your definition of causual player.  I mean, you could have a hardcore casual player, who isn't a hardcore player, but plays often enough.  Then you have the total casual players who take casual playing to a whole new level, who as you said, can only play for 10 to 30 min. at a time.  Which in that case, you will never get anywhere in any mmorpg, its like this, what can you possible do in 10 min.?  Run out of a city and walk a sort distance.  And if you can only play 10 min. every few days, i would suggest dropping mmorpgs all together, and go play a normal RPG, becaus in the end you're not playing the time you bought.

I know plenty casual players in game, their all around level 20 (sadly, so am i , but normally i'm always on some deep, long, and intracite quest where i don't really feel like killing)  None of them play 10-30 min. at a time.  Normally 2 hours or so every other night or something like that.  I myself try to get on atleast 3-4 hours a day when possible, but real life does come before any game.....or does it?!, no really it does.  But being a casual gamer doesn't prevent you from playing.

Wow way off defination: Most MMO's define "Casual Player" as someone who plays 1-2 hours or less a night. Has nothing to do with age, sex, or location for that matter.

Exactly.  I can't think of any game I've ever played where you could accomplish anything worth doing in occasional 10-30 minute sessions.

You should get EQ2 because your interest in it is already piqued. Does it really matter to you what people say here? If you are interested, go pick it up.

Friend of mine sold his account to me for the price of taking him out to lunch ($14 for the two of us), so try to find someone like that. You might want to get their account before they realize that dropping EQ2 for WoW was a bad idea and they want it back... LOL

Good post Elvenangel. I have played eq since beta and still do. I also play EQ2. Yes, there are some things missing but Sony can't put Everything in the game that Everyone wants unless there are posts like Elvenangel's and others commenting what they think. That is one of the reasons EQ was as popular as it is. Believe it or not, Sony listens. Sony has even called me at home to ask me my opinion of certain aspects of the game and they were implemented. I beta tested WoW and EQ2. WoW was ok and if I didn't have EQ2, I might play it. However, I didn't really care for the cartoon characters. My toon was named Brat. She reminded me of the little girl in "Finding Nemo" with the braces. I know my post is miniscule compared to others but the one thing that comes to my mind is that I used to fuss and complain about not being able to solo since I was a directionally impaired bard and very weak. Well, I can solo now as a bard and I miss the grouping aspect. I enjoy it sooo much more when I can group but unless I ask for one, I won't get one so I end up playing by myself. Still, I love EQ2. I am not one that pays much attention to fine detail. I just like to play for fun. I don't find myself having to tear myself away from the computer or turning off the sound so my hubby won't hear it and try to sneak into bed at 3:00 BUT.... It is still fun. Just needs some tweaking
