Went on vacation for a month and came back recently only to login and get a "suspended account" message. I contact ncsoft support and they reply saying that the account was automatically close due to possible "hacking" and asked for some information (serial #, last 4 digits of cc, date of birth, address, etc). I provide all the information and they reply saying they're going to give this to the "game surveilliance unit." The GM from the game surveilliance unit says "original creator to a new user" and will be permanently banned. WHAT?
I reply asking what do you mean new user and my account has crap gear, why would it be a new user. They reply "The decision to terminate the account is final. This decision has been thoroughly reviewed by our team, and we maintain absolute confidence in our conclusion. The account will remain permanently closed and is not eligible for reactivation under any circumstances."
I ask for proof of a new user and they can't provide me with any saying "As previously communicated, your account was caught in a detection process which we use to identify violations of the User Agreement. We will not divulge the specifics on what triggered your account to end up on our list of accounts to target. The reason for this is to preserve the integrity of the detection process. Rest assured that we do not take closing accounts lightly and have done everything possible to verify the infraction."
At this time I found it pointless to keep arguing and I wasn't having much fun with the game anyways so I didn't bother replying anymore. Oh well, with idiots running around as GM's I can see why the game is dying. Off to TERA.
I also got banned for no reason. Aion wasn't even installed anymore. I gave up on trying with them. I had to submit almost everything except a blood sample.
Way too much work for an unstable company that will just do the same thing again.
from what I am reading its great some of you got ur accts. back but some of us didn't. That just tells me that you were lucky enough to get someone on the other end that knew what they were doing and we didn't.
Its obvious few people there care about customer service but its even more obvious that those in charge don't care enough to police everyone that works there.
As of tonight I'm in the same boat as a lot of you. I haven't played anything on NCSoft since a couple of months after Aion launched. I decided to take a peek at what 2.0 did to the game and see that my master account is blocked. I've never received so much as a warning during my play time.

It got blocked after you left not during your play. Just contact NCsoft and they sort it out.

Yup, just sent in the ticket with all the good info they wanted. Too bad I probably won't get a reply before the long weekend is over.
Well got a reply but not the one I wanted. I also have my GW account on the same master account and don't have any of those CD keys or original CC info anymore. Wish me luck.
Alright, it looks like since I can't find my GW keys I can't have my Aion account back but I can still login to GW and play. This is really, really effed up.
Since I never bought anything from the NCSoft store I never linked my Guildwars account to my account at NCSoft. I however had not played guildwars for some years from 2005 and they introduced the character name thing so I could not login in spite of knowing the email and password. They however very quickly gave me the informaion I needed. However I have everything written down in a notebook from the time I started playing games in 1999 along with every game CD ,account and details of CC and everything so I have seldom had any problem getting an account back. I move from place to place almost every 3 years and sometimes that involves moving from one continent to another.
I think more people should retain their information to avoid problems like this.I do not keep anything on my computer though so no passwords nothing on it but my little ratty notebook is valuable. I have several copies of that ratty notebook hidden away and I have been threatening my husband to use his safe deposit box for my ratty notebook.

Big part of my problem, I bought GW in Japan and have moved twice since then. I should keep a notebook like you.
Yeah, I'm still spamming this thread...sorry, just venting.
So, I've got my master account all squared away, passwords changed, client installing and now I see that I'm BANNED. Great, time to open another ticket.
I'm very glad to see that I'm not the only one that has issues with NCSoft.
Now, I have never played AION. But I have played Guild Wars and City of Heroes/Villians. Last year, my account did not get hacked into once, but twice. I followed all of NCSoft's instructions about making sure there was no keyloggers and spent the better part of 2 days working with them. When I asked them about authetication units, like the one Blizzard uses (and has great success with from what I've noticed), their response was the following. And I quote: "Well, we could do something like that. But really the only game with hacking issues is AION. So it would be a waste of money."
Mmm. A waste of money? I would think the satisfaction of being able to keep their customers' money would take a bit more precidence than what it would cost them to make the authentication units.
Now, this is a purely personal opinion. But the way NCSoft handles their "authorizing you're the person asking about the account" methods is fairly archaic. Fax them a copy/email them a copy of your credit card? No, I'm sorry that is just not a valid or secure method especially in today's day and age. In truth my NCSoft master account started way back in 2000. I've moved since then and you tend to lose things when you move. They would not even accept my City of Villians key from when it first came out.
Needless to say, NCSoft has lost my business. Their customer service, again in my personal opinion, leaves a great deal to be desired. And reading the previous posts on this thread only strengthens that thought.

Y'know, as frustrated as I am I just can't go crazy over this. It's happened to me with Turbine, Blizzard and NCSoft, surprisingly my only accounts that haven't been jacked up are from SOE.
Now Turbine was more helpful and more user friendly to get my account back but responded slower and Blizzard just didn't want to hear it.
returned to try aion again after playing abit just after launch, and just got perma-banned for "3rd party application" usage.
I have no idea what this could be, support just gave copy/paste replies.
Im kinda ambivalent about not playing anymore, frankly it sucked up too much time, but the unfairness of it and having no say at all is infuriating.
Played on a pc thats only used for gaming and has minimum crap installed, with updated anti virus etc.
Absolutely disgusted with ncsoft, any gm looking at the account would see it wasnt used for farming or anything like that.
So my only guess is my play style triggered some anti-bot script or something, and perma banned my master nc soft account without any gm even looking at it.
I assume that means the account is tagged with hacker now, so any ncsoft game would be risky to play.
Anyway, not a big loss, highest level char was 38, so better it happened now than 6 months in I guess.
Maybe if I complained for months Id get it back, but I dont really want to invest more time in a game where you get randomly banned..
All I did to get mine unbanned for the same reason is emailed them, they asked for all my info and the only thing I didnt have was the first credit card because it had to be destroyed, and they were fine and reactivated my account.
Was pretty simple, but I do agree the hacking is out of hand. When my account was hacked I hadnt played it in about 6 months to a year.
Just checked my account and my account is fine. Never been banned or hacked or anything. Deactivated, but fine. Never been hacked in any game, but I use very complex passwords, plus I use different passwords for different games/websites.

Virtually impossible to hack unless done by a super computer. I think you see the difference a little variety makes in a password. This is why I warn people to make their passwords more complex, and not to use things such as their birthdays, parent's birthdays, etc. The longer the password, the better.

I despise that chart.
Brute forcing over a network connection is nowhere near that fast. Those times reflect how long it would take if the password database were present right on the hard drive. You can't do an attack like that over a network because a.) it would take 1000x longer than the times given there, and b.) the game will lock you out after several wrong attempts (if they have any kind of security at all). In the end, using different passwords for every game and every site is very good advice but using complex passwords is less necessary.
Even if you were concerned about brute force attacks, a dictionary list is so much more likely to be used than a 7-digit number list for example. The password "8288848" is a lot less likely to get brute forced than "avatar1".
Yep same here did wanted to try aion like 3 months or so ago but find out my master account has been banned to , Did contact their customer support but after about 5 emails back and forth they still didnt unbann it .
Downside is i have more games on the account and officialy done with them , not gonna spend entire week to get my account back while i didnt even played / done anything with account .
Doubt i will ever gonna buy game from them anymore this is just a joke . Dont understand why they dont try to fix stuff like this way better 3 of my reallife friends did have the acc block problem to and its not that aion doing that well at the moment i gues that they just can ignore things like this.
