The game is freakin ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. I literally crapped my pants when we went to the first city.
Is this another Asian grinder with AOE trains, AOE trains?

Lol...not in the slightest. But the game is so slick even if it was a grinder I would play it. Its THAT sick. And I hate grinding.
Tera looks very pretty, but after my experience with vindictus and that combat system, i am not sure about tera , maybe gw2 will do that combat style best.
Very nice to hear these euphoric blurts but please, do us all a big favor and take half an hour or so to write up your first impressions as soon as you can manage to take a step back. Tell us all about game mechanics / atmosphere / combat / layout of the world / crafting / etc, etc. Thanks

I have limited knowledge of Tera but from what I saw it looked like a pretty closed in world. . ie you follow paths through the world rather than large open spaces. The art style was also not my thing. . Panda Bears as characters are not "sick" from my point of view, just make me feel sick. . but I am old.
So yes please. . why is it awesome? What makes it great. . you not only didn't give details you didn't even say what part? Was it the combat. .the graphics? The animations? What would make it so great that you would grind in the game if you hate grinding?

First a disclaimer. If you don like the Final Fantasy series of games' art direction/style, you probably will not like art direction/style of TERA. I on the other hand love the Eastern meets Western design style so that will certainly amplify my feelings towards the game.
That said, quite simply it is the most amazing MMO experience I have had? Why? I think it does every I personally like in a game very very well. EVERYTHING has high production values, to the environments, to the models of weapons and armor to the character models themselves. Pretty much the best in the game, (MMO Genre, probably rivaling the best console/pc games aswell) in all visual fronts from what I have seen so far. This game looks better than most games of any catergory, let alone MMOs. It feels like I am playing a Final Fantasy CGI at some points.
The combat is visceral and dynamic from what I have played, only two melee classes. Spells casters/ranged I have limited experience with. I played Vindictus, and while that game was fun at first, I prefer swinging around a huge weapon, but also having my character be ruled by realistic physics, gravity, weight, momentum etc. This game does it in a way I have never seen.
I've only gotten to level 13 so there is not a whole lot more I can offer in terms of info, but I will say this. When you see the city for the first time, you will shat yourself, I kid you not.
I agree with Unscathed, they've really put a lot of work in to it. I played it a year ago and playing today and seeing how they're still tweaking and perfecting the combat system is great. It's so fluid, it even makes grinding fun because it even teaches you how to play your class unlike in other games where you'd stand still and press keys. Keep in mind I'm playing with a 450 ping so I'm not even getting the full combat experience.
The pvp in this game is going to keep players playing for a long time which is what i was hoping. Group play is extremely fun but I have to try group pvp. I don't know why anyone would be put off by a game where you have the option to play a race of animals when the pvp is so great. It kind of reminds me of mount&blade but way more responsive.

Sorry but I don't see anything in common with Vindictus... can you explain?
TERA and Vindictus both use an action game style combat system, though from the videos they do look like they do it differently.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

Is combat really that fun ?

Its not even comparable imho & thats why I asked for explanations. The combat systems in those two games are worlds apart. I really don't get the whats in red...

About combat, C9 is still better imo, but overall yeah... combat in Tera is the best you will find once released in the west.

But do they block non-korean IPs ?
And...how the hell can you read anything ingame ?
Umm yea, I was just at the official site trying to find a link to DL the korean version. So can you guys give me any info on where I can DL the client and play the korean OBT?

No idea but I think it implies having a korean ip. Or a friend in korea who lets you play over his/her account for a bit. Personally I'll just sit on the fence for a while. Watching, waiting, stroking my hype gland and sharpening my opinions ...
