And I'm posting about it because they usually release info about it the next day, after I say something like this.

Prayin' for mesmer next.  I wanna see if it's still the fastest caster in the west that gets all them ring-a-ding broads with those fancy skills :D

I had the 12th off work so of course they didn't reveal it.  I have the 19th off so it probably wont be then either.  I also have Sundays off but they dont reveal professions over the weekened.

If you go look at the screenshots that were included with MMORPG's Most Anticipated MMO, you'll see that the third is clearly official (or an exceptionally well made mock-up) character art of what can only be a Mesmer. You can tell by the dress, the fan, and most notably, the purplish color throughout. If you look at all of the other revealed classes, which are holdovers from the original Guild Wars, the same theme runs throughout. The overriding color scheme for each class matches the colors of their skills and the bosses from the first game. Purple was the color for Mesmers. MMORPG probably informed Arenanet that they had won and so they gave them this official art of the Mesmer as a tease for those who were paying attention, for the next class reveal. This is all conjecture, but I'd be willing to bet money on it. We'll have our Mesmer reveal soon.

Here's the link to the page in question for those who may have missed it.

plenty of people also think these 2 are professions, just because there is a concept art that looks like a profession doesn't mean it actually is one.

If you've read Edge of Destiny, you'll also have a very good idea of what two of the remaining three professions are (assuming Mesmer is a chooseable profession) which I won't reveal here.

I know what the 3 professions are, I have been following the profession speculation threads on gw2guru for a while now, but that still doesn't mean they are in the game.

True, but I'm going to go ahead and say that they are, 'cuz I feel lucky. Let's not forget those two images are near exact matches to the two professions that are not mentioned by name in the book, but are revealed through the main weapon(s), armor and possibly, tactics of two of the characters.

While I was originally hesitant to say that those professions will be playable, that they may only be in the game as a nod to the past and a tease of the future, Arenanet never did that in the past. Any enemy or npc profession was useable by the player. It's all speculation until they've revealed all of the classes, but c'mon, you know it just as I know it, that those are two of the remaining classes to be revealed. I don't think they would have snuck that art into the MMO manifesto nor release a canon book with characters that seemed to mimic those professions, if they weren't far enough along to be certain that they will be in the final game.

I'll make another huge, possibly foot in mouth assumption, and say that the reason they haven't been revealed is due to two things:  1.) All of the major mechanics have not been ironed out for each of them yet, so they just aren't as polished as those that have been revealed, and 2.) The game is still a long ways out, so there's no reason to reveal all of the professions too soon and risk the public potentially losing interest without new, juicy details to look forward to.

There's every chance that I'm absolutely wrong, (Arenanet is certainly the type of company to radically change a profession or remove it, if it isn't working) but I'm certain that I'm right.

I didn't realize that art was part of the GDC slideshow back in March of last year. I didn't start speculating on the other professions until I read the second book and looked at the MMO Manifesto again. Regardless, I can't wait to see which profession is revealed next. I loved the first game, and I'm dying to play the second.

The pictures themselves mean absolutely nothing unless the professions that most people associate with them actually make it into the game. On another note however, whatever profession Logan and Caithe are will definetely (can't seem to spell this word right for some reason) be in the game because Anet stated that all 5 members of Destiny's Edge will be playable professions. But that brings us back to the fact just because the pictures look like they are actual concept art for Logan and Caithe's professions it doesn't mean they actually are.

Long story short, Logan and Caithe's professions are playable but the pictures themselves are just that, pictures only.

me too! we know that mesmer will be revealed eventually. I would rather see the new class, thats more fun than old class.

Found this on guru, a fanmade look of the remaining professions, it looks almost official

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

Cool art. Just one question. Is the golden charr playing a pan fluute, or is that a set of binoculars that shoots bullets?

:D Rofl but yeah it made me wonder as well, the creator kinda failed trying to ilustrate charr holding three barrel shotgun while searching for enemies...

..but deadly binocular sounds kinda awesome:D

That Charr with the mortar cannons on his shoulder looks hilarious.

I honestly hope they don't reveal the mesmer next. I would prefer to see what one of the new professions is going to be, instead of rehashing over the older professions. I would actually have preferred if they had made all new professions, simply because people's expectations might be different with all new professions instead of holding fast on to what the profession was in GW1.

Thats the profession that Logan is from the second novel. In the novel (p. 80) it says the name of that profession.

Oh. I think I saw the word "Guardian" floating around here somewhere. Is that what it's called?

  • ZenakouZenakou Member Posts: 50

Yes Caithe is a assassin, Logan is a Guardian, and Jennah is a mesmer. And people like seeing old professions return because those were some of our favorite professions in the first game and for them to get updated newer versions of themselves is pretty tight. Mesmers are a unique class to guild wars so people definitely want them to return. And plus you guys forget that Anet will add new classes and such when they release expansions for this game. And given the new engine they're using, I'm sure their next few classes will be quite unique much like the ritualist and dervish were.

I want to see a paragon again or a paragon type ( also a bard archetype) profession.  Using shouts to boost attack or defense for the whole party was very cool. I like to be a support player and the paragon was one of those professions that helped me do it.

Of course there will be a mesmer type class. Queen Jennah is pure evidence.  An assassin class is very possible but I thought they were gonna bring 4 old professions and 4 completely new ones.

-I am here to perform logic

Even tho mesmer is pretty unique I alsays think of him as of a debuffer...

For me the most unique class was dervish..

I mean seriously in which other game do you teach your enemies a lesson with your scythe (+the way self enchants and the energy and dps management via releasing them was soooo fun!)

yea dervish is quite unique. I like those avatar skills.
on topic: only 15 days left until deadline! so somewhere in the next 2 weeks we will see a new class, can't wait ^^

I wish they would have said "news will be coming in Feb" and released the info this month instead.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
