DCUO is great.

Definately better than any other new mmo release since... I can't remember when.

I'm having a great time playing. The end-game thins out to a bit of farming before you're really "uber", but I think all mmo's are like that pretty much. Replayability is pretty solid with the 2 sides and multiple story lines. The "hard-cores" will start complaining in about 30-60 days about needing more end game, but I'm sure expacs will come.

All-in-all it's an impressive game, fun to play when you get the hang of it, and the powers' "rhythms" down. Worth checking out.

i have never started an mmo and had this much fun from the word go! i dont care if its light on content later on, running around kiling other players is always enough to satisfy me for a good couple of hours. and thats all i want, a couple of hours of fun when i need it

I want to play badly but how are you guys managing the 4-9 click mouse combos ? Is the controller better can you not click 9 times. I really want to play please help. Is there a difference with the controller the Xbox controller is it ?  I am in earnest I want to play or recommend a weapon with least amount of clicks. Can I manage to end game using only the very first combos ?

Well those levels I managed too in beta but I read some weapons need to click the mouse 9 times then hold for the higher level combos. How does combat with the controller differ do you not click the buttons as much ?

The number of clicks are nuts for me I will wear out my mouse so I am considering getting a wired controller for my PC but if you still need to click it makes little sense to change except that the controller is cheaper than my mouse.

Never mind it is okay I did not mean to derail the thread. I decided after searching the net there is no solution you need to click that many times for the higher level skills to charge so in the end you still need to click incessantly and count the clicks too. Sorry for my post.

If it didnt have a monthly fee I would buy it for ps3... To bad they were stupid enough to do that. Would be perfect as a b2p.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

I have a problem getting into super hero mmorpgs. I don't know what it is but they simply don't grab me. When I was a kid I was really big into comics and due to that I assumed this setting would light a fire in me and I would play, but that wasn't the case. I am glad people find the game fun though.

I'm playing with mouse and keyboard at the moment. I was fully prepared to steal one of my son's xbox controllers, but I just haven't felt the need. I'm using handblasters by the way--I don't think there's more than a three-click combo available.

    That's my sentiment, as well.

My understanding was that there is no monthly fee for the PS3. You just need to be a member of the PS3 online group (which has a monthly fee, but is for all the PS3 games)

I think by 9 click combo he MUST be referring to one of the tap then hold x 2 combos.  It's the only thing I can think of that would require that.  And even tapping is only 3-4 button pushes for a grand total of 6 for one move.

Honestly, I like the MOVEMENT on my xbox controller but I preferred the Mouse/Keyboard for pretty much everything else.  And since I want to quick key stuff ANYWAYS, I always just keep it near (since it's a laptop it's not NEARLY as difficult).  Plus, the mouse helps in the menus go faster than having to RB/LB through ALL of them to get to what I'm looking for.

No, you still need to pay the monthly subscription. Being a Playstation+ subscriber may give you some additional benefits, but will not cover your account fee.

The game does have the standard $14.99 a month MMO sub price. The PSN store already has the sub options for purchase. There is a one month, two month and three month sub option.  Some people were thinking PSN plus members would get to play free but this is not the case and was never stated in any way by the Devs or Sony.

Look at post 19 on that thread the guy counts 10 mouse icons for an aerial attack. There was another review I saw the guy said 9 clicks for a dual sword attack.

Dual wield has up to 10 click combo. Dual wield is the worst of the clicky-click-click sets. Unless they changed it right before release.

Most of the other weapon sets aren't too horrible. But make no mistake, just because your weapon set doesn't require 10 clicks doesn't mean you won't be clicking 10 times a second in combat. Your mouse will hate you. So will your fingers pretty quickly.

    It's still fun, but man...

Yeah, I am sticking with the mouse/keyboard too. The combos become intuitive after a while. Whenever I learn a new one I practice it a bunch of times. I can do them without an issue. There ARE combos with many more than three clicks though.

As to the original thread intent I too am having a blast with this game. If they keep a solid amount of content coming I can see keeping a sub for a long while.

Yes I figured as much I enjoyed the game a lot but in the end in consideration of my aging fingers and my mouse I decided against buying the game but you're right it was a fun game.

I can imagine the clicky stuff will become a problem later on, but I am levelling a number of characters very slowly and having terrific fun atm. After experiences last year I didn't expect to equate fun with an mmo again, so this is a very welcome change. Early days of course but the gameworld is really well done, the pvp exciting and the sense of being in the DC Universe unexpectedly strong.

I know that this is a horrible wish but I hope I can get some nice program to help with the combos by mapping them onto my keyboard or mouse....... probably get banned in the process but seriously want to play. I know I am like that dog who has a bone in his mouth and is looking at the one the dog in his reflection is carrying. Typical me . I am glad though that DCUO is available it opens up this genre a lot more and I am hoping it does very well.

    I agree with the OP!

To the person complaining about the clicks in multiple threads - Dude, just buy the game!!  Especially if you think it's fun but the clicks are annoying.  Buy it and play around with different weapon skills until you find one with little clicks.  For example, my hand blaster guy barely does clicks....I hold right mouse and click once to do a double shot combo.  and I hold left mouse click to do a lunge.  Other than that, it's right click spam for range or left click spam for shots.  Not every weapon has directionals and 9-click combos.

I'm sure you can do something like this, and I doubt it would be grounds for banning. The only issue is that macros wouldn't be fool proof since your combos can be interrupted. Not only can they, but it's VERY common for them to get interrupted by stuns, interrupts, knockbacks, etc.

Macros would be the only way certain disabled people, people with arthritis, CTS, etc. would be able to play this game for any length of time.

    It is great because...?

Something else beside "action oriented combat" pls.

  • cheyanecheyane Member LegendaryPosts: 9,404

Argh ! exclalaber2 sorry about the multiple post whine.

Well I did consider autohit program but I am waiting to see if anyone has any success using it and have not been banned. I could try it myself I guess but eek what if they ban me? Cowardly but criminal me is afraid.  image

People aren't allowed to like it because they can finally enjoy the combat in an MMO?  If someone thinks that's reason enough, then that's reason enough.

Sure they can, but I am more interested to hearing other aspects beside action oriented combat which makes the game great.

That is not enough for me to buy the game as there are tons of single player games with action oriented combat.
