Day 2) Ok, put control and UI issues to one side, hmmm this is kinda fun.

Day 3) I hate PvP, lets try a PvP server for a laugh. Hmmm, it's actually quite good fun :)

For the first time in a very long time I've decided to make my main on a PvP server because it just adds so much to the game, I've still experience ganking and high level Villians picking on very low level Heroes (of course us Heroes would never do that ;) ) but the difference in this game seems to be that you have a chance against people quite a few levels above you. As a level 5 I got jumped by a level 14 and I got him down to half health and made it very difficult for him to finish me off by blocking and rolling all over the place, was great fun :) I know other games where if a level 14 attacked a level 5 it would be one shot and over.

At the minute I would sum this game up in the following way: DCUO is a great action MMO wrapped in a layer of frustrating controls, topped with a horrible UI and chat system. It's great, but it definately needs some work doing to keep the frustrations from getting to people before too long.

Chris Cao also highlighted how much fun PVP was.

For me, it just isn't. I guess to a large part DCU just IS a PVP game. Which makes or breaks the game for you, IMO. There just isn't enough PVE. A bit as it was in Warhammer. Not saying the game is like WAR, just the analogy of lacking PVE qualities while being too focussed o PVP for those who are just not so into PVP. Like me.

EDIT: In beta at least EVERYONE and everyone's mom used to chose Hand Blasters. Go figure. I'd still wait half a year until the game has a real PC UI and more content. And hopefully more visual choices, like some other body form for men besides EPIC muscular, super muscular and child...

I'm amazed no one finds it as bland, limited, repetative and boring as I did.  Ah well, more power to them - enjoy the game :)

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Now that we are in a new era of "honesty" for both Bill and MMORPG, I expect the pre-order SNAFU to bring his much anticipated "review" of DCUO down to 9.2 from the 9.5 it otherwise would get.

Look, Bill, we get it.  You "like" DCUO.  Fine. Everyone has their own taste.  Hell, I am a fan of bad 1970's disaster movies, but that doesn't mean they are great movies to the general public as a whole.  I actually love the song "MacAurthur Park" by Richard Harris (the one with the "someone left the cake out in the rain" lyric...) yet it's considered to be one of the worst songs of all time.

Maybe someone other than YOU should be writing the review?  I don't think you are objective, you are a fan.

So those 1970's disaster movies should be reviewed by somone, from the general public, that do not like them. Someone that in no way share your view of likeing this kind of movies.

Would that not be slightly wrong?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

If there was a free pc trial I would be wiling to give it a try but having been burnt by SOE on games before not quite ready to plunk down the cash plus monthly on this one yet.

After reading Bill's opinion of the game I went out an picked up a copy - and can say I am having a blast. This probably isn't the game I will sink most of gaming time into, however I can see myself enjoying it for quite some time. I am glad I took the risk and bought the game. Thanks Bill !

So of my friends I game with had picked this up so I thought,"what the hell" and picked it up. Until Rifts comes out I will be playing this. The game is fun, the pvp is really fun as well, and it feels like you're playing a fighting game. Pretty balanced, and if you like pvp it's everywhere on the pvp server. This game won't last longer than a month for me, but being that it took 4 days to go from 1 - 30, I'll be playing this game for the next few weeks smashing fools.

Not only did I put my foot in my mouth, I kicked myself right in the face . .  .

After all the negative things I had to day about SOE and DCUO, I did purchase it and try it out, just because I am a DC comics fan and mmorpg fan as well.  Initially, it was fun.  After a few days, its a whole lot of fun and I am logging in every day.  I'm glad I tried it, and I should have remembered what I always say to folks asking for feedback and advice on games they haven't played . . . try it for yourself before making any judgements.

You have to understand, when you make a game for both console and the PC, both the UI and chat systems will suffer because they are designed for the lowest common denominator, the console controller.  You can't have it both ways.  Console people don't chat, they usually use voice, hence SOE is not going to spend a lot of time on that feature.

I got the game, it is fun to play, but I don't see much depth here,  it is more a console type of game where you buy it, play it for a month or two and move on to the next game.  Hope SOE is making enough on box sales, because I don't see a long term subscriber base for this game.

Can't wait to get started on this game.  Started DLing it when I left for work.  Gotta see the gf and then its DCUO time!

I'm thinking of going healer.  I had a CoH healer who wore a white t-shirt with a big red cross on the front.  Made it very easy to find groups.  People always enjoyed seeing me jump in!

You guys don't care.  I'm just giddy.  Wanna fight about it?
