How close to DAOC is the faction conflict ?

ShadanwolfShadanwolf Member UncommonPosts: 2,392

Daoc is the gold standard for me on faction vs faction conflict. This game looks like it will have deep crafting which is a real plus. Can someone detail  faction conflict ?

-will there be geographic locations to attack and hold ?

-will faction conflict be 24/7 open field ?

-will there be full looting of killed players(I sure hope not)

-player housing(if so... instanced or available for all to see)

-will there be seige equippment ?

-player mounts?

-two signifigant factions..or more ?

overall..how close to DAOC might the faction conflict be ?

    -player mounts? Yes, not mounts...vehicles

-two signifigant factions..or more ? Supposedly player created....

overall..how close to DAOC might the faction conflict be ? It won't be anywhere near DAOC. Dark Age of Camelot had THREE hard-set factions that fought over controlled land on a 24/7 timer with no lockouts (except for contested lines to be able to capture said keep.....NF bleh) mixed in with purely ironed out & crisp PVE to create a combination you just don't see anymore.

Don't expect another DAOC to just come out of thin air unless it's DAOC_2. The only people who could pull another DAOC off would be Mythic (or x-mythic developers) themselves. However, due to EA-Bioware's hold over Mythic I doubt they'll get the "OK" to do it despite the massive revenue gain.

Err I thought Earthrise was a full loot game? I remember reading you had to purchase insurance and the like...

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

There is very little information on player factions. There are about 6 NPC factions that have been shown, but nothing (that I know of) has been said about the factions that players can belong to. I had assumed it was going to be FFA PvP.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I dont know where this guy got his information but its not right.

There is full loot after PvP, although you can insure items and they won't be looted (this will be expensive).

Territories won't be open to conqure 24/7, they'll only be open certain times.

As for segie equipment I know they will have mechs that are able to be built for mining purposes, so maybe they can also be used for offensive attacks.

For factions their are 3 main factions: Noir and Continoma are the fighting factions, and if you don't join a faction you will be Neutral which is the other main one. Thier smaller factions such as criminals.

First of all, don't listen to Fadebomb, as he/she doesn't have any clue about Esrthrise apparently.

This game is basically all about territorial conflict n the end-game. Players need to build bases to harvest the high-end-materials from said territories.

-will faction conflict be 24/7 open field ?

Earthrise is FFA-PvP and you're free to kill anyone. NPC-factions are not the driving factor for PvP, but if you ike to only kill players of the opposing faction, you can roleplay ofc.
    Territories will have siege-timers.

-will there be full looting of killed players(I sure hope not)

Yes, there will be full-loot, but with an insurance-system.
-player housing(if so... instanced or available for all to see)
Not at release and it's wasted dev-time actually in a open FFA-PvP-game, where there's no instances.

-will there be seige equippment ?

Yes, there will be mechas for siege-warfare.

    -player mounts?

    Yes, hover-bikes.

    -two signifigant factions..or more ?

NPC-factions will be two main-factions and several smaller ones. Each faction offers different technologies as rewards, but they're not bound to anyone and freely tradeble.

It will be closer to EvE in regards to faction- and guild-warfare. Guilds can even consist of players with different faction-alignments.
