I get this message:
"All servers are down for maintenance."
WOW, really????? Just my !#$Q@# luck. Who the hell does maintenance on weekends during peak hours?
Comments
Chances are they'll be up within the hour.
2nd downage today. There was a 2 hour issue this AM. They must have some serious server side issues if they drop them all on a prime play day.
Game just launched, expect alot of issues like this. As with any other game. Its irritating as hell, but thats how it goes with a newly launched mmo.
Seems like it may be due to high populations:

Attention Heroes and Villains!
We apologize for the unexpected server downtimes today. We're working on expanding the capacity right away and there may be brief interruptions because of these efforts.

I've never heard of a game having issues with servers, especially when they are overpopulated ever on release
dotdotdotdot
Oh I do expect it. I just feel bad for the folks trying to troubleshoot the generic issue messages that come up. Before I came to MMORPG, I launched DCUO and got a login wait then a 'You might not be connected to the Internet message' over the login window. I check the forums and there was a 'launcher fix' thread. Standard stuff. You might have a firewall blocking or you might not have flash player installed of your Direct X might be...etc. I know full well the machine ran the game fine when I logged out a while ago and nothing changed since then. It would be nice if SOE just posted that the servers were down/having issues to help some folks not pull their hair out troubleshooting what is NOT their issue.
lol sorry OP!.. but as for to many players.. There was only two servers that I know of that said FULL! Sad but I agree after 30 days its going to be very empty. You can get 30.. the cap.. in less then a week and thats not trying.
Welcome to your first MMO at launch.

Again, we sincerely apologize for the downtime. This is now estimated to take several hours while we make configuration changes and add additional capacity. We are sorry for the growing pains, but they won't last long!

ps. I cannot respond to the flood of PMs rolling in. Please post to the appropriate section of the forums with feedback and requests.

I'm 30 and the game just began for the most part. No need to go bash this game unless you maxxed out your lvl 30's armors and feats and then got bored.
Also, there are many numbers in this game right now. Why are people denying that?

Actually, I'm familiar with launch month issues. I just thought I'd share it for the umpteenth time. I started gaming a decade ago with Asheron's Call. I still haven't found a game that brings me back to the kid-in-a-candy-store feeling when playing an MMO since then... perhaps it was because I was an MMO virgin. It's never the same after the first time
Those that played the beta to 20 won't know what they're missing, and even less for those that haven't played at all. You and I know how long it will take for us to get our gear and feats.. and it won't happen in less than a month
Plus, after you get your gear you still have to get through those hard alerts and raids for feats thats not an easy task at all.
This was on dcuo facebook just so you know why its down. I'm surprised how good this game is. Combat is fun and seems to have a great story behind it. Pvp is great, just be ready to get ganked a lot at first.

better hope they dont add to many servers, cuase after the free month those servers will be ghost towns.
Sarcasm. I needed that... thanks

Have you ever heard of World of Warcraft? Or Aion? Or almost every single popular game that has ever been released? Or do you avoid releases like a plague because this is by far the most common thing upon releases...
In WoW I used to use downtime to go out to the movies with friends.
Eve used to do downtime 1 hour a day. I used to use the hour to go and make dinner and go for a walk. I think it was a good thing as it got me off my 'seat' for a while.
Try it, your 'seat' will love you.
I am already level 26, and it has not been out a week yet. And I am not even trying to level. I'll make one more alt to see Gotham content but then I am done. While it is a good game, it levels way too fast. They shall not get my recurring monthly payments due to giving me way too much XP.
Gear seems mainly pointless. I dont notice any difference in my capabilities for any of the armors, so I am not really motivated to get it, all I need is a good weapon.
The feats are nice and after each Alert I take the time scouring the zone to get all the collectibles, and even then I am almost max level already. I have done all the Flying races I have come across and take time trying to chat. Yet still I am nearly done with Metropolis after just 1 week.
Vanguard has an ability to turn of XP gain. DCUO needs something to tone down the amount of XP rewarded. I want to pay them a monthly fee for a long long time, but they shall not let me.
Some of us havent been able to log in for days. A few have never been able to login. The server side aspect of the game is less than stable. I was able to play until Thursday. The all of a sudden I get stuck on waiting for world list when the servers are up for the last 3 days. Many others are experiencing this as well. it's very lame.
you fail @ sarcasm sir.
No, its due to a poorly tested new mmo, if they had a non-0key needed open beta/stress test they would have had this sorted.
"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."
