Stop burning through 2 years of content in 6 months and you wont be burned out on MMORPGS.

For me at least, when i had the time to play hardcore, i tend to get burned out and move to a new one, and repeat.  Soon there wasnt really any decent game left to play.  Now with the ability to play mabey and hour or two on weekdays, and one weekend in which to play 10 hours, i find myself enjoying the games i do play much more.  The little things that bother you dont become obvious, and you can enjoy the game for what it is, entertainment, not a full time job.

I like that you posted this.   A lot of us forget that burning through games at a rate of 6-12hrs per day of hardcore gameplay is simply asking for burn out.

That's not to say that it's hard to understand how even a casual WoW player could be burned out... I mean, 7 years on one game will burn just about anyone.     There's not as many 'vanilla wow' players left in Azeroth as some might think.

Hmm, other than the quoted post above saying "don't play so much", I don't know what to tell ya.

I started playing EvE in 2004 and I've gone through my burn out phases on that as well, but I don't play it as hardcore anymore, so I've enjoyed myself much more on it lately.

I would suggest Aion, considering it has the coolest combat system + animations available imo [in the list of MMO's that tried to conquer over the last 3 years anyways] but it's very grindy and very easy to burn out on if you don't like that sort of thing.

I like playing Darkfall but in a game like that you have to start playing the same time as everyone else or you will never catch up mainly because you can cap every single skill in the game and be a demi-god compared to new players when it comes to pvp just on shear skills and stats alone. Some of these mmorpgs give me the same feeling I get when I chew on a piece of gum for to long but I just can't spit it out.

Thats not really true when the game has the extreme diminishing returns that it has. By the time it takes a vet to gain 1 point in a high skill or stat, a noob gains like 10-20. It takes a few months to create a character that can is ready to join in end-game PVP. Because of offline-skilling being revamped next week, you probably wouldnt even need to grind either. I did the trial for fun just to see how easy the grind is these days and made a pretty decent character under 24 hours, skill-wise.

I went from game to game looking for something to keep me interested longer than 3 months for years and finally found Darkfall which I have played for 2 years now, and although I hated it at first I stuck with it and am glad that I did because no other game can satisfy my needs for the adrenaline that I now get from this game. Now when I log into other games it feels like someone took away my ability to jump since the game gives its players so much freedom. You tend to get more attached to your character in this game because more emotions are conjured in the real world from what happens to your avatar than any other game that I have played.
