Getting a bit tired of this as well. No need to keep the GW2 hype burning if they don't bring out info them selves. This is just silly to have a column without substance, and just hopes and speculation and more of this. It was fine the first time. 4 times in a row now? Getting tired of these posts..

2010: no more news since the disaster of killer game FF14 and the launch of Cata. Apparently GW2 will be postponed again.

I bet you they are watching the market and if the "world" Rifts events will be meeted with how I think they will be meeted (boring) , expect  an even later release to fine tune the zerg fests that always result from such world events.

Also talking about cross server PvP is one thing, implementing it is another.

They are not alone though: it is now sure TOR will not meet its earlier deadline of Mar/Apr 2011.

The worst nigthmare for EA is that free to play GW2 could launch at the same time as the subscription based TOR.

Lol, TOR release is still set up at !SPRING 2011!, yes looks like we really need to use Caps to talk about it, About GW2 something is just not right about that game, i mean Dynamic Events in something that we will see 1st in Rift, same thing with the cross-server pvp and battlegrounds, they are talking about ¨Personal histories¨ in a MMO but SWTOR gonna give us that 1st too, and with more content and quality than GW2, (Is BIOWARE FFS), that is out of discussion. What about PvP?,  what if we will have a better pvp experience in a game like Rift or SWTOR?, it could be since we know nothing about GW2 yet. And i dont really think that the people of EA and BW are scared about GW2, maybe SWTOR is the reason why dont know much about GW2 or a release date.

Honestly man, no need to troll. If you don't want anything to do with GW2 then so be it. I'd rather not see people like you in-game. Though it would be nice if you did a little bit  more research on the game before you start spouting off stuff that you're inaccurate about.

I'm disappointed my comments were removed. I didn't post them to bait or troll, it's a genuine concern on my part. Mmorpg just seems to be overhyping this game and are perhaps even a bit biased towards it, this censorship actually proves my point even more.

I am not allowed to question someone else's opinion? I am not allowed to voice my own opinion?

I'll end my post on topic: The fact that there is nothing to report and yet this game gets a positive post about it is just silly. This game will be a disappointment imo. It's a simply a generic asian mmo / pvp game in a shiny new coat (yes I know arenanet aren't based in asia, but ncsoft is and they run the show at the end of the day).

  • alan0alan0 Member Posts: 50

First of all its not a asian/eastern market mmo (slap) :) arenanet is teh maker of it as you say and there a western company. NCsoft is only publishing it thats all.

Secound of all i dont see it failing tbh but i dotn see it really being the top mmo, mainly because its not trying to be its b2p. So you can play any other mmo without subbing to gw2 so why is all this conflict happening hmm.

Just to point out, recruitable NPCs you bring with you on your journey is part of the traditional Bioware experience. If you played any of their games, you'd understand that. It has absolutely nothing to do with Star Trek online.

As for this article, and articles like that, they serve their purpose. I'm sure they're helpful in motivating developers to get more information about their game out. When you get a sudden drop in information and no one says anything about it, it's sort of like saying no one cares. Greasy wheel gets the oil, and all that.

For people bitching about MMORPG.com overhyping a game, grow up a bit, please. If they were hyping the game you were into, you wouldn't care. But someone else would. The same goes to them, and on it goes. By pointing out the supposed favoritism you're only making yours more obvious. Frankly I'm tired of seeing some new article about DCUO everytime their devs break wind, but I'm not trolling their forums bitching about it.

Although I agree with most of your post, I disagree with the last paragraph.

mmorpg.com is a general mmorpg site and thus should treat all of those types of games equally. Now of course I am aware that they are largely dependant on news stories and what they are being fed by developers, but that's exactly my point. There IS no news about GW2, so no need to post about it.

here's the only problem i see with your statement thou, the guy before me was acting like tor would be some kind of savior to us and lead us into the unknown world. One problem thou this is a mmorpg and guess what sto did the team thing first on a MMORPG. You saying well they do it on all there single player games means nothing because this isnt a single player game.

i agree with the paragraph 2nd one, but i do not agree with the last one thats one of the main things wrong with mmorpg they take a game where everything has been done before but is more limited with slightly improved graphics but because its the supposed name brand version where batman is called batman instead of batman being called something else to keep from getting sued its better. Well its not because i have played both DC universe and city of heroes and im sorry but COH is better imho.

ive played kotor 1 and 2 yes everyone likes the single player ones very well with the exile and darth revan, but that has nothing to do with anything there releasing if you have been keeping up with the news if you think this is going to be kotor but online you will be highly dissapointed and rage nerd quit like all the people that got suckered by ff14

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you on certain points.

First off i believe GW did the team things before STO with hiring henchmen, but i think we can agree that ToR will have more indepth characters, as you can talk to them and influences their decisions and they can influences yours and changing if they are light side or dark sided (like kotor 2) and ect.

and now i'm going to jump to the last line and ask a question, what in ToR doesn't feel like kotor?

    Blasters? Check

    Branching dialog? Check

    Light/dark side? Check

Star ships to go other planets? Check

    Same Universe? Check

References to Kotor in game? Check

The only things i can see that are different are graphics and how wide open the worlds are and PvP.

My opinion, Tor will be a really good game, one i will play for a while. I don't see it as the savior of MMOs because i don't think MMOs need saving, they need some reworking and need to come out complete.

On topic: I'm not worried about lack of info on a game as long as it doesn't take forever to bring something out.  It's going to be natural for games to have a dry spout of info from time to time.  This is usually the time when they have released all the done stuff and are working on the next thing.  Games are usually either worked on all at once and very little info gets out, or it's worked in bunches and a lot of info comes out then nothing, then more then nothing, over and over again.

In the end though, i believe Anet knows what they are doing, so i'm not worried about lack of info or dry spouts or anything.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

There's been two classes revealed that use melee weapons though, not one.

Warriors and rangers.  Rangers use longswords and even two handed swords.  Unless you're suggesting that the ranger THROWS the two handed sword at people. :D

More seriously, according to the information on the ranger released so far, the two handed sword is supposed to be a highly mobile area effect melee weapon.  That's pretty cool, if you ask me. :D  (Kind of reminds me of dervishes, to be honest)
