General: Modders Creating World of Starcraft

An intrepid group of gamers is working on a gargantuan MMO mod project utilizing the Starcraft II builders' tools to create what they hope will turn into World of Starcraft. The team has released a pre-alpha video showing some impressive work featuring the Ghost class. It's pretty cool!
This is a pre-alpha trailer for the unfinished Ghost class in World of Starcraft. By no means is this a finished product. This is merely a proof of concept and progression. No announced release Date. Game by RyanWin. Music by Maverlyn. Winzen Productions is not directly affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, we're merely using their engine and assets.

I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.

I'm impressed. Kudos to these dudes whoever they are for taking the time and effort to work on something Blizzard should have worked on instead of Cataclysm.
And no, I don't think Titan is SC mmo... I don't work in the dev dept but time and time again we've all been told it's a completely brand new IP and has no connection with warcraft, starcraft, or diablo.

Is this legal? lol, i mean did blizz not copywrite the starcraft stuff?? are they letting these guys build this? hahahahaha.. Nice concept thoe, lots of people would gobble up a starcraft mmo.. personaly i would rather a diablo mmo... OH YEAH, but instead of cartoony crap graphics like wow.. a diablo mmo with more realistic evil graphics so i can look mephisto/diablo/baal and the other 4 uber demon people from hell face to face in HD MAYHEM!...... ok im done now..

Well on his website he says he is using the mod creation tools that come with SC2 and he also has a post telling blizzard what he is trying to do and if they want him to stop, they can post telling him so. He is a talented individual who may make it in the industy one day.

There is also a Diablo style game in the works using the SCII editor. A link to the project escapes me right now, but it looks similarly awesome.

I was really impressed...looked funner than most real MMO's. I don't think Blizzard will stop him from doing this because I think in order for you to play the game, you have to have SC2, its not like they are losing money from him doing this, they are getting free advertising for if they ever want to make a real Worlds of Starcraft. I see this as a 100% good thing.

I think it there's a big chance titan will be a Starcraft MMO, look was was released right before WoW...warcraft III and xpac to get people into the story...
with starcraft II having huge fanbase, three sequels to create even bigger story lore and a number of planets with different looks, one would be very surprised if blizz wouldnt use advantage of it...plus having a sci-fi MMOFPS like tabula rasa game and fantasy MMORPG would pretty much make them the kings of industry (like as if right now they aren't

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
So is this the next "MMO" to break 1 million players? Sure looks like it.

The only thing I can see coming of this, is a desire in the future to not implement modding tools for their future games, heh. They will SHUT this down, the only reason why they haven't responded personally to his website is due to legal reasons I'm sure.

lets hope this kicks and blizzard decides to support and publish it. theres a lack of scifi in the mmo world (as we all know). This is looking better than a lot of the proper mmos in production.
I like the ambition this guy has... Good job! I hope this game brings you prestige and wealth.
Blizzard won't actively support it other than hosting it like they would any other mod for the game. They may highlight it in the forums though. So long as those guys don't try to turn a profit or make money off their mod, they are set. That's got to kick the butt of most anything else you could have on your resume. "Took an RTS map editor and built a fully functional MMO."
