Amazing video. I really enjoy how they tried to highlight the core features and concepts behind the game play in the cinema. Most games just make cinemas that have bad ass fight scenes, but really relate to the game in no way at all.

look ppl its very simple. if you dont like the idea of playing a GAME where u can be killed by other players then dont play earthrise. leave it to the people that do like it. i intened to spend my time in earthrise making money and steeling from people and killing others.
and as for organized pvp ganking etc. yes it will happen it happens everyday in eve. there are ways around it. i played eve for a long time and did my share of ganking and being ganked. its just a game and should be treted as such. and pvp is a part of it. if you dont like then go away.
that being said i hope to see you non-pvp cry babies in game so i can kill you or maybe just steel ur mount

And it will be subscribers such as yourself that will make sure it is an empty game. I play DF and EVE both but tend to not lean toward the asshat side of the pvp crowd. And the sad thing is that folks like you will be the ones that wonder why no one plays.
Just because it is FFA PVP does not mean the game should revolve totally around it. It is but one feature but the lesser mentality crowd cannot seem to get that.
im not saying the game has to revovle around pvp. the devs are. and as for me i fully intend to be an ass in the game and take all you have for myself and my guild. why? because i can. if you unsub cause of it then i just win again. and as for there not being many play because of it, well that just means more resources for me and the stronger i becomel. you are 1 person. u cant tell me who will or will not play

Look at DF and MO for examples if you wish for what happens when the community is one where the majority are folks like yourself. In both those games people would love for the pop to be bigger but they are their own worst enemy. But then your age is showing in this conversation as well and angst ridden teens are more apt to be their own worst enemies.
lol i like you u dont take no crap. you should come to my guild site and check us out. http://fts.guildlaunch.com
Well, imo the vid shows an aspect of the game. If you are put off by this, then you have not done any research whatsoever.
yes, you are right.
people will see this vid, and having done no research, will think 'gank game' and dismiss it.
this is why is is a bad movie in terms of selling the game to the wider playerbase that would actually be hooked by world, choice, and freedom (if they had shown that).
I think you are still misunderstanding what i am saying...

i see what u are saying and i agree. if someone who hasnt seen any of the other vids or doesnt know anything sees this they might not be interested. but on the same note as everyone that is talking in this thread has seen it, that argument doesnt mean anything.
I honestly like what I read about this game, and liked that trailer. . .particularly the end also
Earthrise could be full of win for me, if the landscape, the world has sectored security like EVE, that scales.. . .ranging from low sector to high sector, but not just isolated to the starting are. And while at the same time, more rewarding elements of game-play in low sector areas as opposed to high sector; at least I would think that that would be a smart way to do it.

Is that the case?
yes. the devs say that with more risk in more dangerous areas u can and will get better rewards. ie weapons and mats

Okay...so it sounds like it might not be a stretch to consider that this is like EVE Online, maybe not as complex, but similar in game-play where you dont have to play as a ship.

The difference would be where Eve is adding PvE content. Earthrise (in theory) is launching with plenty of PvE content. That is the goal anyway. I don't know what they'll actually launch with, but they've described a lot of content in the forums. :-)
*edit* and Eve probably runs better. At least there are no dorky dual wielding guys running around.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Anyone who has played EvE Online in 2003 when it launched can tell you how smooth EvE was running compared to what we see these days. Back in 2003 EvE had maybe 5% of todays content and it was running horribly. They even had to roll back a few days several times.
So, if Earthrise has not all content available at launch, that's nothing to shocking actually aslong as the game runs somewhat OK and if the core-mechanics are ready to go. Territorial warfare and mechas for example will be patched in a few month later as we allready got told this week. Not too bad though, if you think about, that territorial warfare got added in EvE Online allmost 2 years after it was launched...

This is true. It just has to be good enough to get through the initial launch and for the game to get moving. People can be very forgiving with quirky stuff if you can give them a good time.

This is entirely untrue, ER is targeted for Both hardcore and casual, and will fit in this game just fine i dont understand why most people considered a FFA PVP not suitable for the Casuals i am a casual player in EvE, and i also do PvP
I am a casual player as well and I'm looking forward to seeing what this game can do. The game has FFA PvP with Full Loot, but that's not all the game offers. You have to actually read a good bit on the website and in their forums to find this out though. Hopefully some additional information will come out highlighting the other content.
It's probably good to get the FFA PvP/Full Loot bit out of the way though because that is a sticking point for a lot of people.

Ooooooooook... The whole game is base on being in space & living the life of a space ship, but ofc, its not a space sim.
Gratz on winning the "can you make more sense dude!" award.
I wish ER all the best though.

As far as I know there are no full items that drop off mobs, so, no looting weapons.
Everything, aside from some starting factional gear, is player made. You don't go kill a boss to get a better weapon, or whatever.
Apparently if you get shot in high sec areas the guards will loot you.
true i think your right but on the other hand if i kill a player i might get a weapon =D

Well, when you make statements with question marks, basically talking to me as if I were five, thats the kind of sh## yer gonna get.
While you're correct about Mechs not making it in for release; all they said about territorial warfare is that a special announcement is coming.
While it's highly likely the system won't be in for release, there has been no official word on that.
Q: Will Mech's and Territory Warfare be in game at launch?
Mechs will not be in-game at launch. There will be special announcement about Territory Warfare.

No, but you can use the dna of the critters as one of many ingerdients youll need to craft items. But as far as weapon drops you are correct.

So What Now?
This CGI is somewhat unimpressive imo, especially compared to other trailers.
Usually you want to have a CGI trailer to pull attention for your product, I don't really see this slow paced video doing that with most viewers.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
I"m sorry, but I have yet to see a PvP MMO or PvP servers in regular MMOs that have ever been embraced by casuals. Ever.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Uhh what? WoW has almost the same number of PvP servers as PvE ones, I spent my last 2 years in that game in a casual guild on a PvP server.
And plenty of people I played with in WAR were casuals, same thing in a great number of other games.

Not a bad cgi, not that good either. Animations seemed stiff and mechanical. Cool ride though! I hope those are in the game.
Still interested in the game for it's gameplay though.
