What's up with the lack of hype about DCUO?

I agree 100% OP. I played the Rift beta for all of 30 minutes before I shook my head and logged out, thinking "Same crap. It's the SAME DAMN CRAP!"

This game has more fun per minute for me than any MMO in the last 6 years (except for maybe EVE Online, but that's a different pace). I literally have to force myself to log out at night so I can hit the sack and not be TOO tired for work the next day...and when I DO finally log out, I go to bed thinking of builds and how to string together combos or powers better, or a new character I want to make just based on a good name (The Procrastinator) and look.

I dunno; I guess everyone's looking for a game that plops you into a world full of Orcs, Elves, Goblins, Dwarves, Humans, and Gnomes and filled with magic crystals and potions and shyte. But they want that game to be set in the same type of world with the same types of abilities and spells and combat...BUT IT HAS TO BE DIFFERENT!!

    *sigh*

As somebody else said in another way. No news is good news :)

Seems like another action mmo, and their are a lot of free games that offer essentially the same features DCU has going for it, and then some more.

I'm sure it's a good game, I hear lots of positive commenting on it, but speaking only for myself, it's at the very least cheaper to play Vindictus/Lunia, and in the case of Lunia in particular, have a lot more content at this point.

I imagine if DC keeps a good reputation going for it, players will slowly trickle in out of curiousty, or as they exhaust themselves on older action mmo's.

Lack of hype ??? Why should we hype a game which is really bad ?

There are still lots of bugs and annoying issues like the missing tool-tips.

It also gets boring really fast. I played the game for 16 hours and stopped playing it because of boredom. It's a click-spam like WoW, but don't have the options to change activities ( auction house/ crafting ).

Its because DCUO is exactly what it feels like .......................a console game.............

DCUO is out NOW and it's really good!

What the heck, I remember way more hype surrounding Champions Online, STO and FFXIV and those games were all AWFUL.

We finally get a good MMORPG for the first time in years and where's the hoopla?

I suppose, for one, people that like it are busy playing it.

And most who don't like it, don't really hate it; it's just "meh" to them.  It's an ok console game.

(off topic aside to Fib: NOW you understand how I feel about Rift!)

I did eventually see your point that's why I stopped arguing with you lol

    hehe it's all good :)

I think DCUO is getting all the attention it deserves, couple of articles a week, some reviews, mild forum discussion.

I got to play a little of the beta and  it is kind of fun and is set in a great IP, looks great etc. The play style is not to my liking, more specifically "its a spastic clicking fest"! NOw some of you younger folks may be able to tolerate a 20 cps(thats "clicks per second") pace I cannot, old  hands start to ache:-)

Some people have compared it to some fps games as far as twitch factor, personally I thought the mouse clicking required during combat in DCUO far surpassed any of the half dozen fps games I have played.

I wish they had done it a little different, was looking forward to it.

Well, I went into it worried about that, but this game is clearly different than others done by them, and other super hero games.

The budget was 50 million and it has all the DC lore going for it.  Missions aren't generic rip-offs like STO or CO.  They really capture the feel and fun of the comic books.

As for it being a console port, well I personally don't see what's exactly wrong with playing a good action console RPG with a thousands of other people on my computer.

I mean, doesn't anyone else want something DIFFERENT with their gaming?  Just because it's not the standard mold doesn't mean it's automatically bad to me.

Plus, even if you only get a month out of it, you only get a month out of regular RPGs anyway, and they cost 50 bucks too.  At least in this one there's PVP and group PVE missions on top of PVE single player content.
