I kinda feel sorry for Mr. Doubter here. Its like he has been let down so many times in life that he never trusts in anything anymore. Kinda makes me sad for him.
On a bright note, Rift hype is 100% generated by the people who have tried it and liked it. Its word of mouth hype, you know the opposite of what you got from the BETA testers in FFXIV. I'ld call it justified for Rift, just like the negative was justified for FFXIV.
But on a more personal note, someone please make Mr. Doubter feel better, he is bringing the rest of us down.
Lol again, missing my point entierly.
If you had read what i wrote, it was that i enjoyed all those games that failed to keep the long term hype. All of those games are now hated by a lot of people. I didnt get hyped up over them, and was able to enjoy them when they dissapointed everyone else so terribly that they turned into perma-haters. That is not how i roll.
Ill enjoy rift for what it is, its just sad to see a game reach a level of hype that it probably will never live up to, just like every other game that does this.
I think my point may be lost here however. The hype is strong with this one.
He didn't miss anything. You really do sound like you need some cheering up.
I think we all get you are worried about long-term playability and the possibility that a month after release Rift is just another MMO. But, think about this a bit. The positive stuff (what you call over hype) is coming from PLAYERS who participated in the beta events and ENJOYED themselves. What do you wish for Rift? That everyone was saying it was dull? Let down in a couple of months would then be a non-issue because the game would be failing from the get go.
Look, it is human nature to get enthusiastic about something you are enjoying. Let people be people and let Trion enjoy the good start they are having.
