check out a game called NEOCRON pretty much just like it ive played many mmo's and this was the best ive played only problem was no one played it and they stopped adding content so unfortunately it failed but no more sad face because here comes earthrise !! finally
As reading all the other threads is apparently not helping I'll repost...
I can't count anymore, how often this question was being asked.
First of all, Earthrise set to be a post-post-apocalyptic SciFi theme, some 400 years after the WW3.
Second. Earthrise isn't a FPS-game, but a 3rd-person-game with softlock-supported mouse-aiming and slower tactical combat. softlock = target-highlighting and huge hitboxes after the first successful hits are landed. There's no tab-targeting and softlock can be broken by breaking LOS or if you don't manage to land additional hits for a period of time after softlock was obtained.
Furthermore. Earthrise will be open world FFA-PvP with varying zones of security. The zones will be working like high-sec, low-sec and 0.0 in EvE Online. Player-looting with an insurance-system will make the PvP more meaningful and intense and will drive the economy.
PvP will have consequences, if you go rampant and kill everyone at sight. You'll loose or gain standings for killing people in the NPC-controlled territories depending on your own and the targets affiliations. Playercontrolled territories are handled like 0.0 in EvE, where the only thing that counts is player-politics.
The economy is playerdriven and all items, but the starter-equipment have to be crafted by the players. To make sure that there's constant need of ressources being gathered and items being crafted, there's an item-decay mechanic, so every item will break at some point.
Territorial warfare will be all about advanced ressources needed to craft the high-end-items. These advanced ressources are being mined by building mining-facilities, just like POS with moonharvesters in EvE. Territories can be conquered during siege-times only, but they can still be attacked outside these times to cause havoc by damaging buildings etc. The buildings available are mining-facilities, crafting-facilities, defensive structures like walls and turrets, market-terminals etc. You can't craft as many buildings as you like however, but you're limited by the power-plant, so you need to find a good mix between economy- and combat-related buildings. The buildings in the territories need to be crafted and maintained just like every other item in Earthrise. The only building which will be there all times is the HQ and you need to conquer exactly this HQ to claim a territory. It won't be an easy task tho, if the owner of said territory is up to the task of defending their base.
that sounds all good and dandy however note that the devs said on their forums that territorial warfare will not be in at launch and they would make a "special announcement". not breaking the NDA since a dev said so on the forums.

Territorial warfare is not in at release for the reason, that there's no landrush. This way the people waiting for reviews first etc, will have the same chances as everyone else.
The "special announcement" will only announce, when this feature get's patched in actually. That doesn't change the game-mechanics tho.

Yeah like Yalaxy said, territorial warefare at launch is no good. Its much better to be able to level your character and figure out where you want your base for a couple of weeks then just too have a bum rush for everything.

terrirtorial warfare is not in release so there is no landrush? don't make up excuses for it being incomplete
Go read their roadmap, where they explain this part.

you buy into that? LOL
Yes, bacause they hinted at this allmmost two years ago allready.
I'm 80% complete of the best MMO sandbox game you will ever play, i will write a list of features. I'll whack up 7 screenshots and a fraps video of a map i made in unreal 3 editor.
When i release it, it won't be near finished, but i plan on finishing it a bit month by month. This will be funded by the several hundred thousand pounds i recieve from selling the download, based purely on my word and the screenshots me and a mate made.
...
This is what has happened with several indie MMO's that have been released, but people still over and over blindly believe anything they are told. See reviews on 4th Feb, then purchase based on FACTS.

You should talk to people who are in the beta and ask them, what features are allready implemented and how it works.
And yes there's lot's of people you could ask, if you would look around for them.
All this sh*tpoasting about how bad the game is and that it's a ripoff etc, is all based on totally uninformed people, who didn't even took the time to investigate on the game, having not even the most basic of infos.
No one can explain even the most basic of information without breaking the NDA. There is no open beta. There is no stress test (You cannot do this closed btw). There are two very basic gameplay videos in existence. The NDA is still up and they are still giving keys for closed beta...with just over a week until release.
fyi, that means the game is gold and already being put onto disks. So, wtf is the beta and NDA for? Has no one asked that yet? Infact, forget everything i have said prior. The game is GOLD, release state...why is there a fecking beta that is STILL giving out keys, there is soon to be more on this very site. Though maybe i misread something.

There road man reminds me of eve. and we all know how successful that was it tanked and bombed after a month.
As long as earthrise is fairly stable and the core mechanics are decent they have a strong chance of succedding, why because there business model is for a niche market not like rift whch is going for we want 5 million subscibers and give wow a run for there money

Global Agenda in a way, atleast as far as playstyle goes.
I would say a mixture between Anarchy Online and Tabula Rasa.

That about sums it up I guess.
That sir was perfect. Thank you. Thanks to all that responded.

My roommate at the time HG:L was released bought the lifetime sub, and even he wont say "I really liked"
If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1000 MPG - Bill Gates

The Earthrise NDA has just been lifted.

That's not officially confirmed. It's just a user claiming it.
Yup the NDA has been lifted.
They did only post it in the beta forums but confrimed on the normal forums by the site admin.
