Let's not forgot the whole point of beta's should be about finding these problems and getting them fixed, not that I'd say no if they gave us more time :)

This is only BETA 5. I can't imagine how the launch will go. Hoping everything gets resolved ASAP or the RIFT launch will horrid.

Like vesuvius said in another thread they shot themselves in the foot with the 25 free keys.  I got 50 free keys that i gave to former guildies, most have no intention of playing but hey if you get a free key to play...I dont know if this load is truly indicative of launch, but i think it will give them an idea of how they want to set up queues and such at launch.

Isn't this the reason they have Beta's and Stress tests?

This is why we all get keys, to help bug test the game, not to play some new game for free before its released, like some people seem to be under the impression of.

We learn to be patient when it comes to server up times and issues like these, Like I always say 'patience is a virtue, just don't push it', so as long as they fix it tonight so I can get some testing done it will keep me a happy bunnie.

Peace, Patience & Love for game devs.

I'm not sure whats wrong but I was logged in and playing fine(EU servers), then Boom back to login/loading screen with error message, "Failed to connect".

Hope they fix it soon. Go Rift Devs!

People are bull charging the log in server is all.

Some dev messages in the game said they're looking in to it. I suspect it'll be fixed within an hour or so.

I won't be adding to the carnage any longer. Uninstalled the game again. I just couldn't get pass the quest grind and the same abilities from other titles.

Call me whatever you wish, but the King desires something a bit more.

Will develop an original MMORPG title for money.

    No, not really.

I am developer myself and beta's are NOT for testing ANYTHING that you can test yourself. It is trivial to hammer your own servers. You can easily create a script that can overload your servers any time you want without having future paying customers breath in your neck.

Sadly game developers are in generally highly motivated but not the most disciplined. That it takes them this long to update on the status is very telling. Hello! You are ADVERTISING your game set to launch in about a month here and this is NOT good advertisement. Not only are you advertising this game, you have customer who PAID for a pre-order unable to access the content.

If I pulled the same with commercial customers, I would be out of a job so fast I could actually spend all this evening trying to get into the game. And game customers aren't as patient as they used to be either. A beta is NOT "well lets see if this might work" but "We tested it as far as we could, it works for us, now lets see about everyone else".

To bad but I think this is telling of how the final paid for game will turn out. It is not like they got long, and I don't mean just the launch in march. SWTOR is coming. They either get their market before or don't.

Playing alpha, finding beta in this situation is really frustrating. I thought devs were really into the community and they did a good job about stability in alpha. If you can't handle this many of people, then don't just try make a public beta. They still don't understand they have to be different from other MMOs, yes, even about the connection issues, to be succesful.

I don't know what you develop but it is certainly not applications with complex architectures as that is pure baloney. You can not write a script to test all the systems and subsytems of a game. Sure it's trivial to 'hammer the servers' but that will tell you very little.

This is the frist beta that has not been bang on time or early <shrug>. The one thing that impresses me about Trion is how diciplined they are.  I am not that massive a fan of the game (it's OK but probably a filler for me) but I have been very impressed how they have run things, it's pretty much like clockwork on the whole.

This is why they beta test games before they release.

I think you misunderstand me, I test game mechanics for Devs, not test the game for myself.

I was saying alot of players seem to think the beta is for them and not the Devs to fine comb the bugs out of their game before release.

Oh come on... They created a really good game. Yeah they invited way too many people to this event and yeah it's taking them a bit to fix everything but in an hour or two no one will care. I think you guys are being way too critical of some log in issues when god knows how many people are all trying to get in at once. Doom and gloomers never give up aye?

dude!!  you are quite the little whining snivler arn't you?  i think the only thing you develope is customer service calls.  you really telling us that you can write a script, that could test the conditions the trion servers are experiencing right now??

if you can, do you know how much a company like google or cisco would pay you to work for them????  you should be making 250k a year and eating lunch at googles salad bar, not playing a rift beta.

I don't thing anyone is getting pissed about this are they? It was to be expected. In fact this is prolly what they were looking to do. Can't stress test without putting your systems under stress, right?

We got a few more days coming to us, just be patient.
