Big fan of Tera and very exciting about everything this game will bring to NA. I hear recently they have gone into OBT in Korea! I was actually looking to see if anyone have/know of any articles on how Tera is actually doing in Korea... player reviews etc. Curious in this information because it might shed light on its future here in the states! Can't wait...

Tera was released commercially in korea 2 days ago so is too early for full reviews. We have to wait when people reach the cap for taste end game content.
You can ask this guy when he is on and streaming (playing hours vary). He is Taiwanese and has a lvl42 Berserker & a Warrior (don't know the current lvl). A few of the people who follow his stream speak english, so they should be able to answer your questions.

Insane, could not have asked for more, my sincere gratitude, will be watching for sure.
keep in mind that it has just been released so of course a lot of people are trying it out. the big test will be whether this game will be able to retain the majority of it's player base for any lenght of time.
i actually think this game has made too easy to level. it's been out for 4 days and i'v already herd of people getting to end level. some guild mates are already in the 40s. i hope to god they have a very deep end game ready because people are getting there very very fast.
PS; about the levelling thing, i dont think they wiped the servers from Open beta so maybe that why some people are already at end level.
Tera has been released in korea? The open beta ended?

Tera launched in Korea Jan 25.
there is currently no confirmed date for the NA release, but there have been rumors of an Open beta starting about a month after the Korean release. just rumors of course.
Woo, I didn't realize it actually released over there. Any news on how it's doing/how well or poorly it's been received?
Well for starters there were 37 servers in Korea during OB not sure how many there are in launch now.
Tera in Japan is also planned to release all CB, OB and release in summer from the recent terafans translated article.
I think the NA released will be delayed, the NA Naturalization is going to take awhile as there seems to be a lot of content. Well I least I hope...
What does westernization even mean besides translating? Making everything easier?
Putting on more clothes on the hoho's ingame as to not offend the prudes and sticks in the mud we have over here.
I think the "making it easier" part is done because, excuse my stereotyping, NA gamers are less patient. I think they might want to show us more game potentials earlier on rather than after weeks, months of grinding. However according to previous comments, it seems the leveling curve for Tera is not steep at all as many people are already hitting close to cap.
In terms of translations, I think they MIGHT have to change the lore to appeal more to NA audiences, I can see that taking a bit of time as well.
LOL... very true
EnMass has already said that they are not going to "sex" it down and the blood is staying in the game. The ESRB will reflect that decision.

I agree, leveling is going way too fast IMO. The streamer I have been watching is lvl43 and all he has been doing is quests and Elites.
Oh well, At least it's not going to be a slow ass grind.

If slower leveling means more meaningful gameplay, I'm all for it
If slower leveling means killing 1000000 more boars with hotkey 2, gtfo pls
Westernization means streamlining the gameplay to a western culture audience, this includes translating text (duh), leveling speed, exp gain per quest, etc
And someone pls tell me Frogster isn't the ones doing the westernisation.........Runes of Magic was f***ed up enough =

Sorry dude, Frogster has the pub rights to tera. But cheer up you can play on NA servers if the frog suks. {no ip blocking for EU and vice-versa}

The leveling depends on how you prefer to play the game.I mean if you are more of a group person you could just do the elite and main story quests and get tons of xp.Or you can go solo normal quests instead, which is not so rewarding.I think you can lvl up through pvp too, but im not sure.
prudes are easily defeated, remember age of conans nude mod? it removed the esrb thong of shame and showed the original in game vagina models
So frogster isn't publishing the NA version? YES I think Australia plays with the NA players
So happy I could die :P

A problem with the diffrent culture between Asia and NA/EU is that here in the west, we do not equate difficulty or skill to time required to advance. Making a game take forever to progress to endgame is never considerd a form of difficulty. A lot of people enjoy playing with maxed out charcters, with eachother, as the character you play with and against are as strong as possible and thus a bit more challanging to master, having all the skills availible an all.
Yes ou could call it impatience, however asian games typicall cross the line in terms of too much time required to experience the game as a whole. There is a fine line between proper progression and boredom, and if the mechanics become stale and boring during this trip to endgame, it starts to feel grindy, which is why a lot of games that do extremely well in Asia, tent to flop here in NA/EU land.
A lot of people were turned off by Aions promise to cater to this audience, as that game felt like any typical F2P game out of korea, howevr it was far more polished and well done than the typical korean f2p. As such a lot of people are just going to wait on this game.
People are also waiting to see how the goldfarmer/bot crowd in this game is. Yes it does happen in every game, however in western games, typicall its not as in your face and as much as an issue to your gaming experience, as it is in most korean made games. This is another major turnoff with most korean games. The gold farmers and bots are so in your face you feel that you almost need them to compete. This also highlights the feeling that if there are that many computer bots playing, that the content itself is boring enough to warrent their use. I cant think of a single time i actually saw botting in WoW,WAR,AOC,EQ2 ect, where it was clear as day in Aion and every other f2p game out of korea.
Other than reputation, being a made in korea product, the game does look fantastic, but have been burned too many times by products out of this country, as many have. So im going to wait and see how this one goes before even looking to try and possibly get into it.
- I think the game is doing quite well - all dungeons are packed with people.
- I also find the leveling too easy - I did a few solo quests, a couple of story quests and 3 instance boss runs today and went from ~38 and 30% to 39 and 60%.
- I heard there are already bots in the starting area. This is not surprising really, but it remains to be seen how this will be handled over there and especially when the game launches here.
PS. I love the game, best one I've played in years
EnMasse is the publisher for NA. It's a new privately owned company (whoever owns it has some deep pockets judging by their new office). Only time will tell if they will be any good or not

LOL! Has nothing to do witht the prudes or sticks in the mud. If you get your rocks off looking at pixel panties, guy...knock yourself out. What is bad is that the running animations of females stick their asses in the air so that all you get is panty shots. Like I said if that floats your boat. Knock youself out...but most...its just stupid silly. Same goes for a lot of the armor. One girl I saw was wearing ankle strap pumps. Really! That may go big in Asian games, but not here.
Every weapon in Asian games is the size of a frikking tree. I guess they feel the need to over compentsate. Weapons in Asian games are all like that...and too many gamers in the west and EU ---- it is - yep - you guessed it...stupid silly. It maybe fine for console games...but this is an MMORPG. Most people in the west and Europe play these games for more than just hack and slash...they like the immersion factor. Giving a danty little girl, wearing a frilly maids outfit, a big sword twice her height and width, really does break the immersion most gamers are looking for.
The point is he doesn't get his rocks off by pixel panties...maybe you do tho and therefore are afraid of it.
