In most betas you get stuff like that to help you test the game.  This is more like a stress, pacing test so giving everyone wouldn't be justified.

Probably none as she was a person of very high caliber. I also came from a different family it seems as the set of values we were given doesn't seem to resonate with a lot of people today. Go figure? Such as "I'm bored/if you are bored find something to do or I will give you something to do/there's nothing to do" and then getting chores for the rest of the day. I was never bored again.

Or being held accountable for one's actions such as innocently going through people's yards and taking the acorns that were all over the place only to have our mother make us go to each and every house and apologize for going on their property and taking what was not ours.

Most likely they didn't care but it was about instilling values and respect for others.

I just can't get behind your reasoning. It sounds like feeling of entitlement and that never washes with me.

But you have a good sense of how your post sounds so you seem pretty comfortable with your decision.

I love it.  Fanatstic GM.  I hate the mentality of games catering to everyone who wants everything free.  

 True!   Reminds me of a time I was playing Shadowbane and some scrub decided to move into my spawn (which I was waiting for mobs to spawn even solo).  We were on the newbie island so there was no PvP possible.   Anyhow.. I explained that there weren;t enough mobs and aaked him to move along.. he basicly said FU.  So I spent the next 10 minutes following HIM and stealing killing all the mobs before he could get them.  He called a GM on me.   After we both told him our stories the GM says "We encourage player conflict in our game.  Once you leave the island this guy (me) would just kill you and take your stuff.   If you are going to get upset and call a GM this may not be the game for you.  Our moto is Play to Crush!"   From that moment on I knew I would really like that game!

It is a beta.  I guess it stopped being about the mount and about how cool was their GM compared to the other GM experiences I've had.

I was dissapointed with the mage class in general, that had a part in why I decided to quit.  I hate to say it but it feels like they just tried to mimic the mage from that other game.

I think I know what might have happened: The GM was sitting there watching general chat and getting a liitle ticked at all the trolls saying that WoW was better than Rift and then he got your message, and rolling his eyes and thinking that you were some wow-tard begging for gold, he sent you the response he did...

LOL, it honestly felt like he rolled his eyes before he posted... especially that second time when I offered to preorder the game.  He just wasn't what I was looking for in a GM.  They didn't have to give me a mount but they acted as if I asked for a car.  It was a beta, if someone said they would preorder for a free mount only in beta - I would've said HERE YA GO!

Very true and if the GM had responded to me like that, I would've preorder anyways and then come here to flame anyone who talked bad about this game!

Very true.   Although I wasn't mad when I uninstalled, it was just the thing to do.  I had made a statement and even though I feel half-hearted about it, I will stand by it.
