Trion worlds for best MMO company, 2011. i'm extremely happy with this game, and it's extremely fun. I am highly impressed how playable this is, for it being a beta. Very few bugs.

This is a marketing move through and through.. probably planned it from the start to highlight how stable the game is and draw even more media attention to it.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

nothing wrong with marketing your product by actually having a good polish product and showing it off. Usually mmo companies talk their game up and then fail to deliver on their words. trion are letting everyone see it for themselves. if people think you are a trustworthy company they are more likely to buy products from you.

Of course, but why should this bother you? :)

They should of said they did it to make up for the server downtimes and bad server sid elag on the first day of this event. Then they could of garnered some consumer goodwill as well as media attention heh.

probably but keep in mind that many people had issues connecting the first day, servers went down, etc.

It's not a bad thing to extend it in light of those facts.

Oh yeh, I totally understand that it's appreciated and made many players happy. I'm all for it. The lack of info in my post just made most assume I was against it, I'm not. I think they are very good at drawing attention to their game and that the game deserves it. I commented more in admiration I suppose than anything else, since I have studied marketing. They had a present for everyone but kept it as a surprise.. everyone loves surprises. Much more impact than simply annoucing this beta phase was going to be longer than the others before it started.

    Oh no worries.

I was just wondering to the "why" as well since they could have just as easily made it to Saturday and be done with it in the first place.

Now... if they would only make it until Sunday as Friday night is for "goin' out".

Dont forget to step outside for some fresh air every once in a while. A buddy of mine has been playing this, ive done some research and this is the only new game id consider playing thats coming out for the good long forseeable future. It doesent seem to bring anything really new to the table but it looks fun. The class system looks interesting. If SOE messes up on the eq time lock server in march I may scope this out. Ill keep an eye out on this game for the future and see were it goes.

Well, tbh , I have played many MMO's... Definately not all of them, but there is quite a bit unique things going on here in rift.

It's constantly some kind of action. Rifts opening up here and there and wherever.  Invaders somehow rifting in and attacking quest hubs... It's just non stop action. Everywhere you go there is some random rift or some force of invaders that need to be stopped.   I can't recall a game in a long time that had this sort of thing going on in the player world.  Aion had the abyss and fortress (which were mostly at a set time to begin with)  Warhammer has there PQs (which stayed in the same spot and just repeated over and over)

Rift has a different system. These things appear in random locations   it seems and there are a shit load of them all over the map spawning left and right.

This game is definately a good buy for year 2011 I can attest to that, and I will be pre-ordering.

I was willing to give Rift a try, but I am a full-time college student and I don't have time to let my Internet connection be idle for 3.5days straight to download the 8gb client. Yes it takes that long because their patcher does NOT allow for picking up where it leaves off if you need to close it for any reason. Very sad coding for sure.

Yes it does, that is the only way I managed to download it using an Orange Dongle...

Which btw took about 3 days downloading it only a few hours a day - ergo repeated shutting down of the RIFT patcher, strange fellow.

    YES!!!!

It is kind of fun when you're passing through a low level area and tromp on some enemy invasions solo, then later get in an incursion furball 7 levels higher than you are and you just have to try and do support action for the higher levels.  The rewards are decent either way.

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...
