So I got into beta 5 for the first time yesterday and did some warfronts with my Guardian cleric.
It's something I noticed in the previous beta where I also did a lot of pvp ... Defiants seem to have the upperhand in warfronts most of the time.
Now I can't imagine that I was "lucky" enough to each time draw a less competent pvp group, so what is going on here?
Could it be that focused pvp'ers are more in sync with their evil side and thus choose defiant which seems to be the better representation for them or is something else going on?
On a personal note.
I also like to pvp a lot and normally tend to the more evil faction for this when I roll a pure dps "kill em all" kinda toon. I don't feel any regret stabbing someone to death from the back, it even puts a grin on my face. My evil char supports these evil feelings, is able to handle them
For these beta phases I wanted to try something different and rolled a cleric. Since it's a healer type, which basically helps people, it felt better to roll on the good side. Now my primary focus is keeping my comrads alive. Killing people comes second.
TLDR: pvpers are "evil" and choose faction acoordingly?

Most PvP-ers are min-maxers and chose Kelari elves because it's racial is ATM considered OP. That said, i have seen a guardian group on my server own black garden (i think it's called?) for about 5 hours
There's a problem with using such a small segment size, you don't see everyone else's game.
For me, I've won way more warfronts as a Guardian than I've lost.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
It's probably the fact that there are more people that want to play good/light side intending to play a good natured character. Pvpers tend to try and capitalize on the this by playing the lesser used side. A rather small pack of wolves vs herd of sheep setup. There are always exceptions, but this is the general trend I've seen in pvp with just two sides. Specifically sides that are light aspect vs dark aspect. Pvpers and gankers specifically like to play against the large crowd be cause there's more chances to kill someone.
By segment you mean "the server I'm playing on"? Or the number of matches?
Server segment you are right ... I don't have a clue except for the fact that warfronts are cross server, right?
Match numbers, well I can tell you I played a huge number of them.
Hmm, this is a very good point.
If this is true my beautifull theory is crap ... he he he and Trion should address this imho.
Also I am not talking premades, but pugs.

I noticed that the healers in this game are pretty much worthless. I mean the people not the class. Everytime I go to one of these warfronts , I have to rely on my own potions and whatever I have, because the healers are dumb as a brick. Even if you run toward where they are, they don't even realize that you are going back for a heal.
"When it comes to GW2 any game is fair game"
I have played about 10 warfronts with my Guardian Cleric as well and we won every time. Perhaps it depends on the servers?
And to the guy above me... I'm a good cleric
I understood that pvp was cross-server. And my experience on EU-pve warfront in 10-19 range is completly oposite apart from first day I didn't win single game as defiant. On other hand, true issue in first WF is the way how first side to pick-up object wins or one side who does care even for bit and has healers...
There are alot more Defiant so it has subtle effects on Warfronts. Defiant will never be undermanned because they always have people in queue to jump in at any time. Guardians on the other hand will usually be down a man and occasionally down 2 or 3.
Looking at in now Trion really dropped the ball on the Guardian faction. Making them out to be Religious Zealots that hate technology was terrible for Faction balance.
I know right? I can't tell you how many times players run up to me, and beg for heals as they see Cleric, not realising a Justicar isn't that type of class.
Or when a 'Warrior' jumps the mob thinking I'm gonna keep their squishy DPS soul spec'd butt up.
Here's an idea, throw out the lazy other MMO you know concepts of: I'm class X that does role Y, and class Z supports ME! And oh I dunno.. Talk to your group?
I get some will get mad that thier class of greatness now has to compete for the spotlight as Rift throws stuff on it's ear, but touting 'healers' in Rift as a whole when they don't heal you... well did you stop and see if they were actually a healer soul type?
SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011
Did they? I get it may not be the popular option, but no one plays Amarr in EvE?
Granted it's your opinion, but I looked at it from further back, and actually it's the Guardians that are the 'Evil' faction in Rift. They smashed the machines of the Defiants, and caused their empire to fall.
Lore aside, it's not the goody two shoes ring your doorbell on Sat and talk about the Lord kinda Guardians we have here. It's Purge the heretic, Crusades, Salem witch trials, Inquisition, Exsize the Deamon...
Or did no one play a Witch Hunter in WAR as they too are religious zealots??

Yes, a bunch of computer loving nerds are gonna love anti-technology, religion loving extremists.
Warhammer didn't have an anti-technology theme.
As far as Eve goes, everybody rolls Caldari.
Sounds like you maybe bringing another games mindset with you. 'Class' is not like most games, for example one of the strongest healers is a mage (with the right soul) and there are clerics that can completely focus on melee dps or ranged magical dps. Maybe you are running up to the wrong guy?
I call pvpers above pvers why??
Because they dont get psychologically tricked so easily and feel better by winning stupid levels and bosses that are simply created to make players feel better psychologically
yet most pvpers get tricked by themselves to feel better when they won a completely unbalanced fight, but since they cant win a fair battle close battle with someone very good they just fool themselves and believe 10vs 1 is won by their skill
great quote i used to have in my eve bio
"if you find yourself in a fair fight, you failed to plan"
10 vs 1 is not unfair... it just means one persons plan was better.
IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME
Same thing happened in WoW, the horde were heavy pvpers and usually won more bgs.
Theres a lot of history with that but if you generally ask a WoW player who has the better pvpers it would be horde.
As for RIFT I played 3 warfronts as guardian (i think i'm called, i'm the human looking one) and won 1 of the 3. But what I never understood about warfronts is why my computer runs slower doing a warfront with 10 people a side than it does in a RIFT with like 40+ people. If anyone could help me understand this i'd be glad to know.
Also has anyone noticed that its better to stick to one soul system instead of mix and matching? I'm playing a necro (full out) and they get really sick spells higher up the talent tree. As opposed to mix and matching between lock and demolisher (or whatever its called) I get a bunch of redundant spells. ex: 3 armors 3 nukes etc.
And and here we go again, having stupid people believing they are good killing people in 10v1 because thye went around with a guild group because they cant do it alone, its nothing more than an excute you made up to not see how bad you are and get disapointed
Sorry strategy and mind games are nothing like that and most people insult the terms by saying i am better because you didnt ask ur clan to help you
Defiant are evil?
Seems like the Guardians are the evil ones.

The Defiant and Guardians there are no bad or good side its basically Religion Vs Science.
Sounds like my original theory was correct... religious folks are evil.
