The PS3 version has been suspended indefinatly and SE is going bankrupt because of this game they openly admitted they put all their eggs in this basket.
Bottom line is FFXIV is a failure and eventually SE is going to pull the plug on it......It's sad but true.
I was so excited about this game and couldn't wait for it's release, but it ended up being one of the biggest disappointments in gaming I've ever had.

Source, news, links... Anything?
Please, if you can't support your claims just ... just don't.
I don't like FFXIV, personally I think it's still a pile of junk, but the greatest aspect about mmo is that it can CHANGE.
And don't mutter doom about SE, unless you can back it up.
If The Spirits Within didn't make SE go bankrupt, I doubt any single game/movie/project will do it. Let alone one that can change and hasn't been released to it's core market.

it's all in the latest issue of game informer magazine.
SE put no effort into the game, they deserve all the hate.
-Billing System (Click and Buy) was a joke. They couldn't get their own system going?
-World was basically copied and pasted.
-Races are the same from FFXI
-Guildleve system is basically Fields of Valor from FFXI.
-Most abilities and spells are previous skills from FFXI.
-Storyline quests were poorly put together. Try the rank 42 one... -_-
-Patcher and the first intro screen is sad to look at.
-No uniqueness between any class besides the model of the weapon in your hand.
-Economy is completely broken, there are no ways to sink money so gil just makes rounds throughout the server. Because of this, everything is so cheap. Since everything is so cheap, anything in the game is easy to obtain.
-Notorious Monsters are basically tank and spank with a large health bar. No skill or organization required.
-UI is boring.
-Animations are boring and mostly all the same.
-Not a large variety of mobs when they have a plethora from previous FF games.
-HQing Items while crafting is a joke. You can get up to 800 quality with 50 durability left and still not HQ.
Good things about FFXIV:
-Graphics
-Interactive Crafting
What did SE spend all their time on. Leves were FoV from FFXI, the races were from FFXI, much of the abilities were from FFXI. Most mobs came from the FF franchise. So what did they spend all their time doing? They deserve all the harsh critiscism they get for the years this game was in development.
Why should they apologize "once more"? They already apologized and they're working their asses off to give the players what they want. SE never gives up on their products, especially when it's a MMO and within time they'll make this into what it's supposed to be. Now, if you are too impatient and can't wait for this, just move on.
Because they've apologized and the game still sucks.
It's not a matter of impatience, it's a matter of hoping that one day dev teams will pull their collective heads out of their arses and stop releasing games that aren't ready.
It "is" a matter of impatience, your sentence has it written all over it. They already apologized for releasing an unfinished product and they are working on it.
Impatience? The moment a game is released and being charged for, that is the moment where you cant ask for any patience from your customers. Patience is for before the game is released, not after.

have you ever played any other FF? I'm pretty sure that in all the final fantasies the spells were all called the same thing. At least, close to the same thing. Cure was still Cure the whole time. I haven't been billed for my account yet, so I don't know what billing system you're talking about. What exactly makes a UI fun? Really no uniqueness between any class? Is this because you can equip any skil you want or because all the skill are the same because I enjoy being able to equip Cure II as a lancer. It helps. I have not encountered any NMs yet as I am only rank 23 on my highest class, but in this type of game, even though mobs are tank and spank.....there has to be organization, even if you're soloing. What skill at what time mainly. Yes, you have to think about what skill to use not just spam a row of hotkeys over and over. I still don't know what people mean about a copied and pasted world, every zone I've been in looks pretty different. Who watches the patcher anyway....I let it start and walk away. Fields of Valor probably worked well, I never got through my 30s in FFXI...was too casual. I'm sure HQing an item is doable, I see +1's 2's and 3's all the time. The races from FFXI were good, I think they should've kept the same names. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Anyways, SE is actually doing pretty well with this game, it has a very healthy player base that isn't going anywhere. People hating on it because of their own bad experience for whatever reason won't change anyone's minds, threads like these are useless. Go ahead trolls, throw some more garbage out there about FFXIV so I can just tell you what is wrong with your post.
1) Ignorance - Have you ever had a problem with Microsoft Windows, and clicked on the help tab....You got it....It's worthless. Do you know why that's so ?........They never took the common users advice. They only looked at help from a close minded programmer's perspective.
FF14 UI is a mess, and the common player has to figure it out. They blew right buy the bata players advice and make a Stinky UI anyway !
2) Greed - Catering to both PC and console players to capture both markets.
So there you have it Greed and Ignorance. THATS THE BOTTOM LINE you can candy coat it, you can gift wrap it but it still comes down to Greed, and Ignorance.
Funny....I don't really have any problems wiht the UI.....It's better than XI's 20 something menus tog et to a spell.
Yes it is f2p atm. They have said they won't charge until the game is up to a good standard. I expect the monthly fee to return once the PS3 version has launched.
Why don't they just apologize once more and move on to a different project.
You know what, it's just that I feel sorry for SE. I mean the devs must have worked hard, it wasn't like the devs come in for their shift and they are like "OMG this game sucks."
And now they are trying so hard again, but I feel only to fail even harder.
To tell u the truth im not fan of square enix.Once is was a fan of square soft and thats because of ff vii which was single player.
After ff viii every ff game they release is going worse and worse.
They could simply remake the ffvii or even more create an ff mmo on ff vii universe. But as it looks there is no brain in their heads.
SE put no effort into the game, they deserve all the hate.

*Implying because some of the visuals came from other games they needed no effort to be made.
Because as we all know, creating the concept is the hardest work, not the actual animating process itself. And as anyone familiar with game developer toolkits knows, you can simply ctrl+c an animation from one game and ctr+v it to your new game, essentially cutting the development time considerably.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
I laughed heartily at the idea that S-E is going Bankrupt because they are fixing XIV.
XIII has made them mountains of cash, DQIX has made them mountains of cash, everything Kingdom Hearts makes them mountains of cash, being the publisher for Modern Warfare 2 in Japan makes them mountains of cash, Dissidia Duodecim WILL make them mountains of cash.
The fact at hand is that their expected profits fell, they didn't disappear alltogether.

This is just a hunch, but I don't think XIII or any of the high-production value titles are making them mountains of cash. I assume the real profit comes from elsewhere, like handheld titles (and MMO's). Their production (or maintaining) costs are significantly lower, yet they sell in the millions just like the PS3 and X360 titles. But they still have to keep developing these expensive current-gen games to keep up appearences.

"Too big to fail" is a phrase that came to mind. They've invested too much into it, and it is their flagship product so they have to give it a good try and see if they can turn it all around.

I personally think they should just abandon this trainwreck and cut their losses. Not only does Square-Enix show how out of touch they are with the gaming world by releasing this game in such an abysmal state, but they continue to do so with there "fix it and they will come" philosophy.
Poorly launched MMO's have shown time and time again that their subscription numbers will never return to what the developers originally hoped, but SE seems to think that if they fix the game, people will come back in droves. They need to wake up. It isn't going to happen.
FFXIV has left a bad taste in my mouth (and I am guessing many others, too) and nothing but a complete overhaul of 90% of this game could make me want to play it. I logged in for the first time today to see if anything got better. I grabbed 3 guildleves and headed out to Camp Emerald Moss. I started the first one and couldn't even stomach finishing it. I logged out after the mobs did their standard run to ambush you with some friends. The game just isn't fun, and it never will be with the current mechanics of the game.

Its not the best business strategy, its a business strategy. And when the circumstances are right, just like any other business strategy, it can be the right strategy.
I'll admit I got it for the looks, and I kinda also assumed being a major company with an MMO already under their belts, its would be kinda awesome. However when I found myself in a crowd surrounding a rock in the wilderness getting quests for no reason I knew that no fix could make this game enjoyable for me.

Other failed MMO's didn't have what it takes to rebounce. SE may still not succeed, but they have a honest chance unlike the others.
Because they want to recoup their money invested and the respect and trust of their customers?
If they just dropped FF14 altogether and shut it's doors it would do much more and likely irreversible harm.
