I like what I've seen so far, but I'm reluctant to try it after the negative things I've heard about it's performance and control on the PC.
So is this game playable on an average rig, or do you need a controller, the best videocard possible, etc. ?
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

I don't know what you've "heard" but DC runs mint on PC. It is very much "playable".
I have not seen any performance problem comments. The issues with the game is chat, and UI, NOT game performance.
Controller wise, that is pure preference. I use a logitech G13 (left hand) and a G5 mouse and love it. Some use the xbox/ps3 controller, but I prefer my setup.
I m playing with gtx 580 and i get 150 fps everything on max.Dont know how other cards perform but i think a 460 could handle it just fine.
As for the controls are very nice i didnt had any problems with mouse and keyboard and it's very fun at least for the free month.
I run a ati 5770 with a intel core 2 quad. 16gig ram. Nothing is over clocked, and the game runs very nice.
im running it on a pc with
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
with 4096MB RAM
and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512 grafic card
with every thing except shadow on max the game runs very smooth no studder wat so ever even i big pvp fights.
I'm running it with a lowly 8800gt, a 3.02 i3, and a bunch of ram and it runs very well on the highest settings, much better than other games with lesser graphics in fact. The engine seems to be optimized very well.
As for keyboard and mouse, that's what I use and they work well. Your wrist gets a little tired from all the clicking but it's not that bad. Besides that it's very fluid.
eh? id never play this one the ps3. mouse and keyboard work just fine and the game looks way batter on the PC. i have no idea what people are saying about the PC.
The game definitely plays fine on a good PC, and I guarantee the graphics are better.

Graphics look great on my PC which has a 2 year old video card. Logitech g13 and Cyborg Rat Mouse 5. You dont really need the g13, it is comfortable and the joystick for WASD movement is nice but not necessary. Having block keyed to the mouse is helpful.
You have probably read that the UI needs help, but it needs help with a controller or a mouse & KB. I messed around with both and I'd say use what you like and you'll be fine. Still can't imagine how a controller would ever beat a mouse for accuracy of movement or aiming (for movement and for the craptastic broken tabbed targetting).

Both myself and my son play.
My machine has an ATi 5870 and my sons machine has a nVidia GTX 260 (BE)
Neither machine have any problems running the game at full details, I've just got to work out a wireless network dead spot in my sons room
As for controls I've played both kbd/mouse and USB gamepad. Other than the view controls on the gamepad being a bit weird (up/down moves view left right, left/right moves view up/down) either are easy enough to use.
Actually if I could change the view controls on the joypad I'd possibly use that more it's a really nice system. but mouse/kbd works just as well.
While I know there are SOME bugs out there that make playing on the PC a bit wierd, the PC plays IMO way better than the PS3. I also feel that'll have more staying power but that's justa gamble. If they finally work out the login stuff between PS/PC then maybe we'll have merged servers one of these days.
I can play it beautifully with excellent framerates on an old laptop with a Core 2 Duo 2.16 Ghz and Nvidia GeForce GO 7900 GS 256MB and 2GB RAM. In fact, it plays so well and looks so good, even on such low end hardware that it makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with other developers. Hell, even SOE's own Clone Wars Adventures--which is nothing more than a 3d lobby surrounding mini-games--plays like crap on the same machine..

unlike most mmorpg that build their own engine and make it a pc hog(soe very guilty of this in past too!),soe used Unreal engine 3 which is known for been very forgiving on specs and has been refined and tweaked to a very good level over the years.

bioware are a fan of this engine and all their mass effect games including the new mass effect 3 all use this engine
until monday ( when i got my new desktop )
i was playing on a laptop
amd m300 dual core 2.0 ghz
ati mobility HD 4200 gpu
4 gigs ram
win 7/64
played pretty good even in large groups of chars

The game runs fine on pc and if your a gamer who likes mmorpgs and action games this is the game for you. Like any game at launch it has bugs. Not as many as recent launched mmos. However some are annoying.
Such as at lvl 30 your content is done through ques. duos, alerts, and raids for pve or arena and legends for pvp. The ques like to break often.
The chat system likes to bug out and you cant talk in league/guild.
The league has little to no function at all.
The content that is there is to get tokens for gear. Sometimes you kill bosses in pve you dont get loot at all. Or you get equipment but no tokens. Or just nothing at all. Its even happened in pvp where we won the game and got no influence or tokens for winning.
My league managed to full clear the content in 2 weeks. All hard alerts and raids. Thats 2 weeks from launch. It recommends having tier 1, to raid or to do 3 of the hard alerts. We did it in blues and greens. Now that we are in purples everything is stupidly easy.
The game has a major issue with open world pvp. If you dont liked getting ganke dont roll on a pvp server. If it doesnt bother you then go for it. The first content patch will prolly be february 8th or the 15th.
The game plays perfectly fine on a PC with a keyboard and a mouse, though some prefer a controller. Some people who played previous MMORPG's still used arrow keys for turning. If you are at all use to WASD movement using mouselook , you should have no problems playing with a keyboard and mouse.
I would recommend to at least test it with a gamepad. It's personal preference in the end, but I found the gameplay to be more suited to gamepad controls.
sadly thats the way mmorpg go nowadays.most raid content id done by good guilds in a matter of weeks.thus why wow is trying to make it much harder in raids/instances and now having a bad backlash of moaning.
