    Didnt think so.

Will those playing war quit and play rift instead? On what facts/statistics do you build that on? Nothing?

If nothing else, you should remember that there are only so many hours in a day and so many dollars/euros that most people can afford to spend.

Are War and Rift the same?  Not at all.  But will they compete for time and money?  Absolutely.

And its not Rift, exactly.  It's every MMO that has a better-than-War reputation across communities like MMORGP.com.  THAT'S what will kill War.  Rift is just the first/next/most-obvious example.

WAR is a IP with infinate potential to be a top MMO. That the devs for this game failed so miserably to produce a product both worthy of the tabletop as well as MMO players is shame and, to be honest, inexcuseable. Overwhelmed by a need to bend WAR to the rules and advantages of WoW (among other high selling MMO titles) this is yet another example of a game "designed by a committee of unfeeling concrete monoliths on expensive leather chairs to meet the same fucking checklist of features proven to milk the most money from the C2DE Fucktard demographic" (Yahtzee 25 Jan '11).

It is proven that when you bend a game to fit the IP off which it is based you generally get superior results, not the other way around. And even if that fails at least you can go out knowing that you made something unique and worthy of the both the IP and your players if not the community at large, rather than going out in a fizzle of mediocrity and copy pasta; something that won't be remembered by anyone years later aside from the unoriginality and failure to thrive with a title that by all rights should still be running to that day.

Say what you will about MMO's such as WoW or EVE or EQ (among other lasting and powerful titles) but know that they all saught to make a game that was more commited to the IP and the players than comforming solely to whatever proven money making formulas were around them. That  I've even commented this much should only go to prove my severe dissapointment that WAR was not all that it could have been or should have been. And for that we are all punished.

Nah, it will be GW2 that will be the nail in the coffin.

At least all WAR players I know are in it for the RvR and Rifts strong points is it's dungeons and character customization. Those suck in WAR, I doubt many players play WAR for brilliant dungeon designs. As for character customization it is not really either WAR strong point.

GW2s "The mists" and Guild Vs Guild battles will however go up against WARs battlegrounds and keep sieges and here I see problems for WAR.

It might be able to continue anyways, I do guess that most of the players remaining are hardcore WAR fans but GW2 will be a tough nut to crack.

If it survives Rift tsunami then I guess GW2 will be the killer one for sure, especially due to the lack of subscription cost.

You can't possibly pay for WAR when you can enjoy GW2 for free.
